  • could they not use a Canadian ?

  • A Johnny Cashpoint

  • I remember in the middle of a nervous breakdown landed in Toronto didn't even know where the hell I was going. but I landed there. In front of the Royal York a billboard was advertising Johnny Cash at The Roy Thompson Hall. I went to buy a ticket but was sold out, someone didn't attend so I got tickets to the show.

The tickets sold at 7.00 dollars and it was to advertise the Johnny Cash Bank machine thing. haha. Front row seet. Waylon Jennings was a special guest and Marty Stewart played lead.

  • Well if Johny Cash uses this bank, then I must use it as well.

  • ha, that was cute.

  • Its real. Pretty awesome eh?

  • would of been a bigger seller if the machines played ring of fire or walked the line.

  • This was many years before Canada Trust merged with Toronto Dominion Bank.

  • Whoa, I thought for sure I'd only imagined these things, when I was a kid! LOL. I once asked my mom if she remembered Johnny-Cash machines, and she looked at me, as if I were totally nuts! Then again, she dealt with Scotiabank. Not Canada Trust. Guess they really DID exist! :D

  • @babygiraffe123 I remember an instant teller machine at Scotiabank as early as 1982,3 years before this commercial aired.

  • I like this. Johnny Cash. Get it?

  • Hey I worked on that commercial! Johnny has a soft spot for London, Ontario because that's where he proposed to June Carter Cash.

  • People thought i was full of shit for years when i told them i remembered watching this commercial when i was like 3 years old. They didn't believe such a thing existed. Now i can finally tell them to stick it because its real.

  • These guys must've had some serious U.S. connects. I was a TD add with the old guy from Law & Order.

  • Hell! I still remember that ad.

  • i still have one of those bank cards in a drawer somewhere

  • whoa whoa wait a second here. is this commercial for real or a joke? were canada trust atm's called johnny cash machines, for real? hahaha, thats amazing. and the fact that the man in black himself did this commercial, even more amazing.

  • Oh yes, these were the real deal. I only wish I had stolen the cardboard cutout of Johnny Cash from my local Canada Trust back in '84!

  • @Retrontario I remember those ads too! I wonder how much was he paid to do those ads anyway?

  • @Retrontario my grandfather was there when he proposed

  • @Drakenxile so wasy mu uncle!

  • Just think...those ATMs/ABMs are all over the place now so we take them for granted.

  • truly amazing!

  • Haha JohnnyCash Money Machine!
