If teens are constantly being exposed to sex, and encouraged to do it (I won't really argue with that) than it's only logical to teach them as much as possible about protecting themselves. A condom isn't a 100% guarantee againsts STD's but it's better than nothing. Teens are going to have sex so there's no point pretending they won't. And sex education is a very important part of public health so it's actually a very important issue in this country.
You don't lose anything when you stay a virgin until marriage. Sex is a good thing, in the right place. Most of the people I've asked have told me that if they could go back in time they wouldn't have had sex, and these kids were serious. I do not regret my virginity one bit, and it's a decision I made in my heart, and not just my head.
Not to mention part of the hard evidence for condoms working is the fact that there are examples of couples who have sex regularly, one of whom is HIV positive, use a condom every time, and the other one never gets HIV. If condoms were really so ineffective you wouldn't expect that.

These retards came to my high school like 7 or 8 years ago. I couldn't get past the first 2 or 3 minutes...It's all opinions and misinformation. I don't even want to get into tearing apart their argument. If your going to teach abstinence at least teach harm reduction with it so when these kids do have sex they go about it in the safest way possible. Sex isn't bad, it's part of being human...shit

The point isn't that abstinence isn't the best choice. The point is that teens don't want to listen and they're going to make their own choices. If we don't treat them as adults they won't act like adults. Thus, they should be made aware of how to protect themselves so that they don't make a mistake they won't regret... like have a baby or get an STD.

although, it really shouldn't be a shocker since 95% of college-age people (not just those IN college) engage in PREMARITAL sex. Obviously people who wait are a very small minority. For good reason too: those who wait are more likely to marry earlier (they marry the first person they want to have sex with - bad idea!) and thus be less likely to pursue higher education. A lot of the "key points" you make are BS. a) Slightly less than half of high school students are sexually active, so you can't have 89% of them saying they wish they had waited when most of them DID wait! b) the majority of girls were disappointed with their first time having sex and wish they had waited longer (NOT necessarily all the way until marriage) but most boys were glad they had sex when they did. c) Condoms DO protect against STDs. It is also directly linked to obesity and stress and sometimes suicide. I could not believe my eyes when I read all this stuff. So, yes, these are really important stuff. You just contradicted yourself. If teens are constantly being exposed to sex, and encouraged to do it (I won't really argue with that) than it's only logical to teach them as much as possible about protecting themselves. A condom isn't a 100% guarantee againsts STD's but it's better than nothing. Teens are going to have sex so there's no point pretending they won't. And sex education is a very important part of public health so it's actually a very important issue in this country.

Not to mention part of the hard evidence for condoms working is the fact that there are examples of couples who have sex regularly, one of whom is HIV positive, use a condom every time, and the other one never gets HIV. If condoms were really so ineffective you wouldn't expect that.

Excuse me, but that is the most ridiculous of counter examples - the point is not that HIV incidence is removed, but that it is only reduced. This means that 'safe' sex is a lie, it is really only 'safer' sex. I personally know a couple who fell pregnant even though using condoms - and sperm are significantly larger than the HIV virus. Get your facts straight.

Because he's telling people that condoms don't prevent HIV. You know what happens when you tell people that? They still have sex, but don't use condoms - DRAMATICALLY increasing the risk of transmission.
Telling people to wait to have sex is fine, but lying about things that could make them safer (even if not completely safe) is wrong.
