People always eyeroll at me when I tell them this movie is a comedy with Sylvester Stallone in it, but I have to force them to watch it for them to start rolling in laughter XD
I must admit that the singer, Earle Patriarco, rides over all other attempts. He manages to make it descriptive. Other singers seem to see it as a world record attempt to out Caruso Caruso, but Patriarco sings it as I imagine Rossini intended.
omg! when i was like 5 i used to watch the opening of this movie all the time, i loved it so much. it's like something from a creepy nightmare. memories.
This version is sung by the professional opera singer "Earle Patriarco" if you don't believe me his name is also listed in the credits at the end of movie and hilariously the animator also took his stage movements from real life, as well as this is him singing the song. So basically this whole scene revolves around Earle himself and his stage presents as well as this is his cover of the song and voice. He is also my absolutely wonderful father <3 Hes amazing.
Figaro belongs to Mozart.....imbeciles....orignally was written by Mozart I don;t know what rossini did with this but Mozart wrote the opera Figaro so stfu idiots who think that figaro isn't Mozart's
this version is the best of all that i have ever heard and i've heard many. live performances or on cd. but this particular version rules them all. and i can't find it anywhere but here. any ideas?
@fakinjutub My father sung it his name is Earle Patriarco, if you look him up you can probably find him anywhere online, hes a very famous opera singer from the metrapolitan opera in new york city.
@erlandday I'm exactly the same way! Another song I dearly love is "Con Te Partiro" by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman. Check it out, you may like it (if you don't already) =)
Sly is my favorite actor and this movie was very underrated - one of the funniest comedies from 90's. Sly, Ornella Muti, Vincent Spano, Chazz Palminteri, Don Ameche, Peter Riegert and Marisa Tomei were brilliant.
No. Actually Mozart wrote "La Nozze di Figaro" (The Marriage of Figaro). That's a completely different work from The Barber of Seville (here, Figaro is the name of the barber)
I always look for this movie to buy when I go into a store but can never find it. I haven't checked the internet yet. What a great show. I was12 when it came out and I remember watching it over and over again always laughing.
WOW! I use to record this opening alone on VHS when some channel showed this movie on tv. I think I recorded back sometime in the 90s. It didn't record the whole thing unfortunately est gdfgf.
oops ignore those last words.I think I also remember playing Mario Party 2 game around the time I watched this opening. Those were some good times indeed!
Why the Hell has Mozart to do with this movie?!?!? Maybe the song? This song is "Largo al Factotum" from "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" and it's GIOACCHINO ROSSINI'S , not Mozart!!!!!!
Great Movie. Our first dachsund was named "ANGELO!" so I could yell it out like Oscars wife in the movie. Our 2nd dachsund was named Vincent Lingardio Gambini the II or (Vinny bag of doughnuts) Anyone know what movie this is from? Hint Marisa Tomei was in this movie as well?.
Man, really, really thanks for this upload!! I love this song and the movie is great. Years ago I tried to find this movie just because of this opening! But it's really difficult to find old movies here in Brasília. And now I've found it here.
very funny movie, Sly The Best!!!!

It´s not Mozart, idiot. It is Rossini.
Lardawan 4 years ago 11
idiot, am i? check wikipedia.
dganiteg 4 years ago
Let me explain: Mozart made the opera "la nozze di Figaro" (the wedding of Figaro). It's different from this song here.
This is "Largo al Factotum" from the opera "il barbieri di Siviglia" (the Barber of Seville), composed by Rossini. 'Figaro' is the name of the barber.
Lardawan is right, but he's not polite.
