Wow that sucked.. Never talked about the most powerful spec. Blood Mage. I played a Blood Mage/ Arcane Warrior and Blood Mage was WAY powerful.
Screw mana. Max out your con and sit on a pool of 700 life used to stay alive and cast spells, add in the fact that Death Magic is like death syphon but for healing. Then go on the offensive controller mage using Blood wound, Sleep, Mind Blast, Glyph of Paralysis + Glyph of Repulsion = Paralysis Explosion, Crushing Prison and Crush Prison + Force Field.
Winters breath is amazing for the cost. I made a bad mistake the first time through buying the staff of the magister lord. I should have just gotten reapers vestments and winters breath, better value.
@ZodiacStationAlpha Because the Arcane Warrior was lost when the elves got taken over by the Tevinter Imperium. Only the Mage Warden could be one because he found a phylactory of an Arcane Warrior.
lol I have a robe who gives me 18 armor, looks the same as the robe this guy is talking about (it gives me a lot more then 18 armor but I don't know all of the attributes etc. And the dragons-breath staff eats the winters breath (I own them both) I think the staffs should be more powerful ..
And my character picked up a blood magic kinda spell (I'm a lv 15 mage no specializations) I cut my throat and get mana in return lol, My mage OWNS
Legobuilder its during the redcliff quest wen u go into the dream talk to the demon there she'll offer a deal take it if u want to be a blood mage. But this isnt without concequence
@KRaZyGamin123 get something expensive and put it in junk when your at a vendor hit both sell, and sell all junk. timed right you get extra money works best using the reaper's cudgel
I have a question. Don't you have to get the amount of strength in order to wear the armor? Cause you said to mainly focus on willpower and magic. I can understand this part but what about strength? Cause i like to level up to at least a level 19-20 at ostagar(you get darkspawn blood but not the scrolls and keep talking to duncan and you get alot of xp) and i don't think you can use alot of it(51points at lvl20) and focus on magic, willpower, and strength. Can you help me with this?
@MassiveGamer7 Arcane Warrior has talent that lets you use Magic instead of Strenght to determine what gear you can equip. In other word you can keep your STR low as possible and wear Massive Armor if your Magic is atleast 42. Do note that Magic doesn't affect your attack rate at all so having couple points in DEX might do you some good.
And for the love of Maker don't power level yourself at Ostagar, it just ruins the game.
i find the arcane warrior hybrid the best. i wear plate armor (ill be using wades super plate) which gives me insane defense + mana regen, and staff of magister, rather than a sword/shield combo. and since i used the mana potion money glitch, i got all the highend side gear too (amulet, both ring, best belt).
@theeyeofthestorms Oh yea, Arcane Warriors are pretty much invincible. U should try usin Duncans sword and the Fade Wall, both give mana regen. That combo + Wades Dragon Bone Plate armor gives u pretty much an unlimited amount of mana, even with all buffs on. Thats a tip for newb mages. As soon as u get the chance, pick Arcane Warrior. Game over.
@Jericho921 I dont need to. i play on nightmare with alistair morrigan and wynee in my team (3 arcane warriors + tank.. is that hacking or am i evil? .. yes i am)
its so insane i dont even use wynee as a healer.. i use them as 3 hybrid mages.. in fact, my main mage has 300 hp/500 mana at lvl 20 ^^ (no DLCs). so alistair is in fact dead weight.
I might try to play solo later.. then itll come useful.
@theeyeofthestorms True, u really dont need em, i use em cause i like bein the tank. I usually roll with Wynne Morrigan and Leliana/Ohgren. Both Wynne and Morrigan are healers (mainly Wynne), and i also am a healer, so no one ever dies. Its basically cheating legitimately. Its not even fair to the AI, sometimes i feel sorry for em lmao, especially the bosses.
man i wish i thought like that... i just run slash laugh like a hillbilly and fuck the ginger... i gotta change my game, clean myself up. hence this video, i wont make the same mistake on DA2
thank youu! i been trying to find how to train my mage in order to lead to arcane warrior and i played through it my first time and my cousin "accidently" deleted it right at the final boss, but i was a dual-wield warrior, but now im ready for mage and just thank you
I have a Arcane warrior Blood mage and i prefer to keep my enemies at bay as i bombard them with blood magic spells. My team mates are wynne, morrigan, and shale ranged specialization build. All are mages, except shale who is a golem. I inflict damage on multiple foes with little effort due to my teams abundance of area effect spells. I AM A GOD...........
Are mages good at close combat, like im saying if you HAVE to fight, is it possible they can win and not be wimps? (Are they sort of like a Paladin from WoW?)
@IcyVirtualBoy if you have a arcane warrior with heavy armor, not plate, and the proper built you can solo every boss in the game on nightmare difficulty
Arcane Warrior-Juggernaut Armor-Ring of ages and the Spellweaver Sword. If you decide to play a Arcane Warrior those are the three Items you might want when wrecking face as one. there are other items you will want to add but those 3 are key
@Phantomblade3000 Crossbows, yes. Most bows have a high dexterity requirement which your mage won't have, but your magic stat can make up for the strength requirements of crossbows.
The only way to make a worthwhile mage is to max every single point into magic and go for blood mage. By cycling using health/mana and blood sacrifice+heal you will never run out of energy any way, and with maxed out spellpower (+wisp/spell might) and +spirit damage you will wipe out anything with ease using crushing prison, hexes, mana clash, blood wound etc.
PLEASE don't put anything in willpower. as a mage you need only magic and constitution. from the circle quest you'll have enough willpower to support all your defensive arcane warrior spells.
i put 5 into dex just for extra attack but you don't need it.
i recommend 40 constitution and the rest in magic. with the spellweaver you'll be doing over 90 dmg and with the best items which unsurprisingly mostly focus on constitution, ex. Reaper's Vestments and Life Giver, you'll have like 450 life.
You don't even need anything into Constitution. You only need enough health to survive ONE attack, because then you will get healed. Plus, you should never get hit anyway. You get yourself a good tank and a lot of CC. Monsters are either scratching your tank or CC'd.
Dude, I've played this game 8 times, 7 of them being on Nightmare. You DON'T need Constitution. With sufficient gear your mana regen will work. Maybe when you are fighting the Archdemon do you need to pop a lyrium pot. Even if you are playing as a BM, just get off Blood Wound and go back to mana. You don't need to pump Constitution in ANY char builds. You need high Magic so your CC lasts longer and can't be resisted. Bosses WILL resist a lot if you are only using 50 or so Magic.
All you need is enough Constitution to survive ONE hit before being healed. Even as a tank, you want to pump Dex so you get more defense (less damage taken) and have a higher chance to dodge. This way, healing spells are more efficient. For example, if you don't get hit that much, and take reduced damage when you do, that +40 hp heal does more for your smaller health pool than you getting hit all the time but have a larger pool of health.
And if you are playing AW, with the right gear, you can max out magic resist, which means no spells can work on you. As for physical resist, end game armors (remember to upgrade them if you got them on early levels), combined with Arcane Shield, Rock Armor, and such will reduce so much damage that they are mitigated by your health regen. I played an AW/BM through Nightmare on solo so I would know.
@AuraofMana eh you DO need to get some constitution even as a n AW/BM if youre not that good OR do to mush damaga that you take al agro whish I do I can either pown on solo or die in less than 3 sec whit group so it rly depends where how many enemys how mush damage you do jow mush agro you take etc
Use a spelling aid next time... and no, you don't need any point into Constitution or Willpower for any character build in the entire game. I've beaten Nightmare with the Enhanced Difficulty mod, it's not hard. Spells like Heroic Defense, Lifeward, and other sustainables you have keep you alive. More points toward Magic -> higher damage for AW/BM or caster Mage.
@AuraofMana when I use that firebolt thing whit blood magig I lose like half my health and even whit rock armor, shimering shield etc. i dont yhink I can take agro of 7 ppl whit half my health and if I dont use blood magic il have to pop lyrium pots every spell I do
When I mean run around with no Constitution and Willpower, that means you should have allocated your attribute points right and gotten appropriate gear. If you don't know what gear to use and/or where to get them, consult a guide. The reason why it works for me and not for you is because you didn't build your character like mine.
You seem to know a lot about this game, haha so i'll ask you a question. I got the game a little bit ago, and I make a character and get bored, so I make a new one, I can't stick with one! Haha I like to do some massive damage, but i want to have A LOT of fun doing so, could you please just help me out on this little problem? Thanks.
You could play a DPS DW Rogue or DW Warrior. With Rogue you concentrate on backstab (Hit 35 Dexterity, hard pts, hard pts+equipment bonus for 20 for armor, and rest into Cunning). Get all Rogue class talents, 4 Assassin, 3 Bard, 3 top row and bottom row for DW. Get Rose's Thorn (main) and t7 Crow Dagger. You can backstab any incapacitated enemies, dealing massive damage (important to have a CC mage on the team). Also get your mage to sustain Haste so you attack faster.
To play DW Warrior, get all Warrior class talents (except Perfect Striking), 4 Berserker, 4 Champion (dmg) or Reaver (utility). Get all DW talents. You can either use dual full size weapons (pump str) or daggers (pump dex), take your pick. Get enough attributes for talents, and pump the one for your choice. You can actually tank with a DW Warrior pretty well (or just offtank). Run in, Taunt->Whirlwind->Disengage to deal massive amount of damage. Death Blow gives stamina back
Define fun. What exactly do you want your character to be doing in the party? Heavy DPS is one thing, but other things, such as CC and utility (DW Rogue) or the ability to offtank (DW Warrior)? DW Warrior is more about AOE damage as you can destroy everything around you while the DW Rogue is more about targeting a single enemy (i.e., boss) and dealing a tremendous amount of damage. With the ability to CC and run away if something goes bad (like drawing aggro).
Well in a game, I like to deal a massive amount of damage, but still be pretty stable, but I would just like to be like the boss of the battlefield, being able to kill anything in my way, with some fun and cool armor of course.
I have good gear and if I use blood magic and do my fire trap I get myself killed THATS why u want con and if u dont have will u cant cast as mush spells so if u only put in magic it only gives punsh to ur spells. btw im not the kind of scerdypants who have a three mage group and a 100% tank
I don't run with 3 mage and tank group either. I am pretty sure 1 Healer/Buff Mage + 1 CC/Nuke Mage + 1 DW backstab Rogue + 1 SnS Tank (or Shale) outDPSes every other party build in the game. Putting things in Magic improves damage, duration, and effect of ALL your spells. That's why you need it. There's no need to pump Constitution or Willpower because you can chuck potions. Again, you only need enough Constitution to survive ONE attack before heals trinkle in.
Not to mention, the more health you have, the less effective heal is. If you want to build a tank, it's better to pump Dexterity as it allows you to dodge. The more you dodge, the less chance you get hit, which means each heal on you is worth more as a percentage to your health. If you have high health but low dodge, you take more damage, so heals have a harder time to keep your health up percentile wise. My build works for NM+enhanced difficulty mod, you are struggling on Normal.
@AuraofMana my mage pretty much uses only health for casting and blood sacrifice puts others to a use. with low con. a blood mage is not as strong as it could be.
if you've finished this game 8 times you really need a life. not to be mean, just concerned.
@ibclappin You are supposed to turn on Blood Magic to cast Blood Wound, then turn it off. The reason why using Mana is better because Blood Magic reduce the effects of heal on you (even regeneration). There are also more +Mana Regeneration gears (Stamina stats on gears spills over as Mana as well, including regeneration).
I finished the game 8 times because it has been the only thing I've been playing since its release. It's only the best RPG in recent years after Baldur's Gate 2...
@AuraofMana the reason points in con. are better could be that an AW with 73.5 life is a little more useless than an AW with 440 life and casting spells with blood magic cost 20% less, and why cast too many spells with your AW anyway? you want the thing to be trying to hit the enemy more, no?
best RPG since BG2 maybe but 8 times is still too much if you'd at least consider the fact that there are a lot of other games if you actually have to spend 500 hrs a month playing video games.
@ibclappin No, Blood Magic makes casting spells cost MORE because it itself alone adds 5% more Fatigue. The only way to reduce it is by getting "Improves Blood Magic" items, which there are only 2, and one is a robe you get from Warden's Keep, and another is a Blood Ring you get from Team Proving in Orzammar. Neither of which are very good.
Because as AW you don't cast that many spells, that's more the reason not to sustain Blood Magic (-heal) and even less to get Con because you don't need it
"Improves Blood Magic" does not reduce Fatigue, it reduces a percentage of the health needed to cast spells under the effect of Blood Magic. The bonus is so small it's not really worth it as there are other better gears to get. Leaving Blood Magic on also reduces all healing done to you, including natural health regenerations. It is terrible to sustain on a tank. As a tank, your priority is to stay alive and draw aggro. AW doesn't have the aggro control a Warrior does, which makes it worse.
@ibclappin If you really want to play a tank, pump Dex instead of Con, as it makes healing spells worth more percentage of your life. Con and Willpower are the easiest stats to find on gear, and + the fade bonus, you have more than enough. Go read guides on AW on NM builds, they would tell you to throw everything into Magic because you don't need anything else.
And about the playing, I do play other games. DAO takes like 15-20 hrs per playthrough at this point, and this was over half a year.
@MicroWare1 I have an issue with importing characters between DLC the last DLC Witch hunt sandal sells me a tome so now my mage has 4 specializing classes. but i have reached the level cap and can't add points to it i started a new one and went right there got the tome finished the DLC but this mage can't be imported into any other DLC except golem's of amgarak why not Awakening?
that mana gain from the corpses only works after the battle ends and thats why i found it little sensless.you can regenerate mana quickly after battle anyway.mana regen at the battle is most important
actulay i was wrong. today i watched more carefuly i saw that during the battle is work as well.but you dot get mana from unddead like skeletons or walking corpses thats why i got mistaken
@lizardstrikes In the video he says that the Libertarian's Cowl is on the 3rd floor in the templer quarters. The templer quarters are actually on the 4th floor and that is where you will find the libertarian's cowl. Hope that helps.

You can actually tank with a DW Warrior pretty well (or just offtank). Run in, Taunt->Whirlwind->Disengage to deal massive amount of damage. Death Blow gives stamina back

and what if you wanna use a two handed or shield?
bollenjr 2 years ago
What class is more fun out of them? Because I want a powerful and fun class.
MyFatalTouch 2 years ago
@MyFatalTouch
AuraofMana 2 years ago
Well in a game, I like to deal a massive amount of damage, but still be pretty stable, but I would just like to be like the boss of the battlefield, being able to kill anything in my way, with some fun and cool armor of course.
MyFatalTouch 2 years ago
I have good gear and if I use blood magic and do my fire trap I get myself killed THATS why u want con and if u dont have will u cant cast as mush spells so if u only put in magic it only gives punsh to ur spells. btw im not the kind of scerdypants who have a three mage group and a 100% tank
bollenjr 2 years ago
@bollenjr
AuraofMana 2 years ago
@bollenjr
AuraofMana 2 years ago
@AuraofMana my mage pretty much uses only health for casting and blood sacrifice puts others to a use. with low con. a blood mage is not as strong as it could be.
if you've finished this game 8 times you really need a life. not to be mean, just concerned.
ibclappin 1 year ago
@ibclappin You are supposed to turn on Blood Magic to cast Blood Wound, then turn it off. The reason why using Mana is better because Blood Magic reduce the effects of heal on you (even regeneration). There are also more +Mana Regeneration gears (Stamina stats on gears spills over as Mana as well, including regeneration).
I finished the game 8 times because it has been the only thing I've been playing since its release. It's only the best RPG in recent years after Baldur's Gate 2...
AuraofMana 1 year ago
@AuraofMana the reason points in con. are better could be that an AW with 73.5 life is a little more useless than an AW with 440 life and casting spells with blood magic cost 20% less, and why cast too many spells with your AW anyway? you want the thing to be trying to hit the enemy more, no?
best RPG since BG2 maybe but 8 times is still too much if you'd at least consider the fact that there are a lot of other games if you actually have to spend 500 hrs a month playing video games.
ibclappin 1 year ago
@ibclappin No, Blood Magic makes casting spells cost MORE because it itself alone adds 5% more Fatigue. The only way to reduce it is by getting "Improves Blood Magic" items, which there are only 2, and one is a robe you get from Warden's Keep, and another is a Blood Ring you get from Team Proving in Orzammar. Neither of which are very good.
Because as AW you don't cast that many spells, that's more the reason not to sustain Blood Magic (-heal) and even less to get Con because you don't need it
AuraofMana 1 year ago
"Improves Blood Magic" does not reduce Fatigue, it reduces a percentage of the health needed to cast spells under the effect of Blood Magic. The bonus is so small it's not really worth it as there are other better gears to get. Leaving Blood Magic on also reduces all healing done to you, including natural health regenerations. It is terrible to sustain on a tank. As a tank, your priority is to stay alive and draw aggro. AW doesn't have the aggro control a Warrior does, which makes it worse.
AuraofMana 1 year ago
@ibclappin If you really want to play a tank, pump Dex instead of Con, as it makes healing spells worth more percentage of your life. Con and Willpower are the easiest stats to find on gear, and + the fade bonus, you have more than enough. Go read guides on AW on NM builds, they would tell you to throw everything into Magic because you don't need anything else.
And about the playing, I do play other games. DAO takes like 15-20 hrs per playthrough at this point, and this was over half a year.

for the last spell to Animate dead how much willpower or magic do i have to have to get it and what level do you have to be ?
UndeadGamer911 2 years ago
@UndeadGamer911
The easiest way to figure this out is to simply look at it in game. For the pc press "P" for spells and talents.
Req 33 magic
upkeep 80
fatigue 10%
For more info at what is animated, search my channel for my animate dead video.

arcane warrior is the best class spec
Steveisamonkeyninja 2 years ago
if anybody has tried the arcane warrior specialization they know its f'in incredible.
theblindzebra247 2 years ago
@theblindzebra247 typical but arcane warrior plus blood mage = death to every enemy
sixarmedtiger 2 years ago
@sixarmedtiger yes but you cant deny that the arcane warrior specilization is still really good on its own.
p.s you are right though
theblindzebra247 2 years ago
@theblindzebra247 im really annoyed though that everytime you cast a spell ur char puts away ur weapon and takes even longer to cast it...
sixarmedtiger 2 years ago
@sixarmedtiger yeah thats pretty much my only problem with the class
theblindzebra247 2 years ago
that mana gain from the corpses only works after the battle ends and thats why i found it little sensless.you can regenerate mana quickly after battle anyway.mana regen at the battle is most important
tanerakyol 2 years ago
@tanerakyol
Morrigan is using it during battle. I will try to make her use animate dead, but the corpse is already gone.
Warriors and mages also have a sustained skill that heals them, but i dont set my characters to use it.
Can anyone else confirm whether it is used in battle or only after battle? "Death Syphon".
MicroWare1 2 years ago
actulay i was wrong. today i watched more carefuly i saw that during the battle is work as well.but you dot get mana from unddead like skeletons or walking corpses thats why i got mistaken
tanerakyol 2 years ago
@MicroWare1 both
sixarmedtiger 2 years ago
@MicroWare1 Yes, it only regenerates mana after battles, which makes it sort of useless.

@lizardstrikes In the video he says that the Libertarian's Cowl is on the 3rd floor in the templer quarters. The templer quarters are actually on the 4th floor and that is where you will find the libertarian's cowl. Hope that helps.
