I personally think the best approach is one that mixes in elements of these two 'types' of the militant vegan who yells at everyone vs. the pacifist vegan who 'respects everyone's choices'. I think we need to be highly critical of people, and not water down our arguments, but we need to do it without letting our (understandably strong) emotions get the better of us. I don't think we should be afraid to tell people that they are harming others, that they are supporting moral evil...

@kimberlily1983 ... but we can do that in a respectful way. For instance, I've said something to this effect to people:

"I know you're worried about missing dairy, etc. but this shouldn't be your top concern. The first question you're asking yourself shouldn't be 'What if I don't like my new diet once I make this change?', it should be 'What will the animals go through if I don't?'."

MOST people don't get offended when you put things this way, honestly and respectfully, without watering down.

The word "militant" derives from the French 'militaire' meaning "to serve as a soldier".

I dislike and reject the connotation.

I'm not a soldier - I'm the opposite of that.

I watched the 'militant vegan' video and this video, and i can't believe how stupid i've been. Acting like a complete ahole, its like someone tried to tell me the other day 'you catch more flies with honey, than you do with vinegar' and its so true now i've seen these two videos. Nice one. Cheers x

She needs to wake up and realize that by banning people she isnt going to change any young minds over to her side. Also She should realize that freedom of speech is very important.

Oh and besides, you can't say I didn't give you the chance, you started to message me and seemed like a fairly decent person. I am tired of trolls thinking that everybody must put up with their trolling. Trolls are in a combative, abrasive state of mind, and trolls are in a state of mind that is inhospitable to thinking and changing one's mind.

Second, "militant" was the wrong word to have used. I think that "militant" shouldn't be used negatively. A better video title would have been "vegans who are abrasive". Saying that, I don't think she should be roasted for using the wrong word.
