The explosive wasn't set to go off over Detroit Michigan USA. It was set off over Windsor Ontario Canada while desending to land in Detroit as stated in initial reports. The plane was headed for Detroit not yet in Detroit.
The media is making it sound like the attack was in Detroit but, it wasn't. Windsor Ontario Canada and Lake St.Clair would have been riddled with debris if the bomb worked.

Saintlewis, I just watched a passenger being interviewed by Alex Jones, and he stated him and his wife, as well as others, witnessed Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab being allowed to board that plane without a passport. How does that make you feel? The same witness stated that a bomb sniffing dog alerted officers to a bag carried by another passenger. He was wisked off to another room, then was removed with handcuffs, and escorted out of the area. I haven't seen any news on that! Interesting huh?

I think they have sleepers in all key locations to facilitate plots like this one. Security agencies should be screening airport staff very carefully, in my opinion. In the UK, Al Qaeda people have even applied for jobs in the security agencies. There's nothing better than an inside word, and in the case of airports, nothing better than your own man in charge of who gets on a plane and who doesn't, perhaps passes you through screening or gives the nod to your papers.

He was on the "do not fly" list and had explosives on his person. The lapse in security was profound. I'm usually not the first to jump onto U.S. govt. conspiracy theories, but it does almost seem like someone on "our side" wanted him on the plane.
