They broke up for many reasons. Aside from their debut album being leaked before its release, Travis wanted to go solo, V acting, and Kevin got the role of Artie on Glee, then Justin became part of One Call. Sad, but I guess they felt it was for the best.
I agree with you. NLT didn't seem to go far after their album leaked. If they stayed together, I'm sure their album wouldn't even be released anyways, so, some things are met to happen. We could still all support them! (:
