He palyed most of this series on one leg and still looked twice the player of Mitchell Johnson (Wasn't he supposed to be a bowler or something?) and in the final test got rid of Australia's only current "legend" with a brilliant run out, when it was needed.

In 2005 he ripped through all of Australia's batting legends (Hayden, Ponting, Gilchrist) and hit a pretty decent century too. If he aint a legend then you set the bar pretty high.

I don't think Aus played badly in 2005 and your bowlers weren't good enough this time round. They played to their potential (apart from Johnson) but there potential is a long way off that of the england bowlers. Our batting line-up stinks though!

The thing about a couple of series isnt quite true, it was more like a few years, before he got injured; but he can hardly be blamed for that. He probably isn't up there with the very best but neither is Punter (Great batsman! God awful captain!)

Bang on 23discord. Both sides were better in 2005 although I'm so happy for Strauss. I actually thought both teams were pretty average this time around, Strauss deserved the accolades but Clarke is one hell of a player too, they also missed Lee massively. Harmison is a liability and has a huge chip on his shoulder. If he tried HALF as much as Broad or Anderson he could've been some bowler, real shame about Simon Jones injury back then though!

I pretty much agree, but you may be being a bit harsh on Harmison. I think he struggles with the responsability of being the senior bowler and with the expectation rather than just a lack of effort. Strauss has been brilliant this series, which I didn't expect. Personally I though Key should have come in as captain, straight after Pietersens dismissal as captain (I still think Key should be batting instead of Bell). But I also thought that Broad should have been dropped, so what do I know?
