You know, I was satisfied with my Chromebook for a couple of days, settling on the idea that the benefits of such a computer for its simplicity and no-nonsense operation outweighed the inconvenience of a cheap, slow, nearly useless Atom processor, but then a Google Chromebook Ninja "helped" me, wasting hours and hours more of my time because she refused to acknowledge it was the processor, instead blaming my connection.
@kissdarkwindful Have I tried a Chromebook? Yes. Although I live in Vancouver, BC Canada, I bought one off craigslist from a couple who'd gotten one given to them at the Google I/O conference. I'm actually using it right now and it's my only computer. However, I have had a kind of change of heart. This computer is the ideal computer, save the realistically slow processor. I just get angry and frustrated waiting for pages to load, and the waiting time gives me ample opportunity to swear loudly ;)
Well, I got my grandma a ChromeBook for Christmas and it was so difficult even for me to figure out how to use Video chat that I didn't even bother trying to explain it to her. GMail is also pretty far from the easiest possible interface you could wish for. If Google was serious about making an easy-to-use UI that can be taught even to "Grandma" I'd say they failed miserably.
only one drawback : No games No Connecting HW devices No downloading No Bios to repair pc if fail somehow No privacy No burning Dvd,s No watching Dvd,s ! No skype No programs google doest like ( like all of them except 4 google BS ) Yes: overprices bullshit with a fast boot
@kjah11 WRONG! loads of games, wireless connection to many types of printers and wired connection to everything else, no need to download stuff because it runs in the web and if you must download just plug in a USB stick! BIOS? you're kidding... IT DOESN'T GO WRONG! Incognito mode for even MORE privacy, DVDs are for TVs and not laptops and a skype webapp. Did I say that it is cheaper than a PC or Mac?
I'm not going to go through all that shit you just said, but WHY should anyone (especially your grandma) need to worry about the bios? Anyway, it handles all of that during boot.
ew years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand;sorry i didnt want that happening to
Ok - So I'm a grandma - I don't have a chrome book but I have been using internet for years. The ad for a chrome book popped up on my screen and as I'm thinking of buying a new laptop would like to know more. Can someone tell me if any word programme is included as standard?
@tonyb730 Google Docs is great, ZoHo is maybe a bit more feature rich. Chromebooks are only the web. You have to think: can I do it with Google Chrome? Yes? Then I can do it with chromebook. No? Then I cannot.
@qwertyfshag JayCut, or Stupeflix. The cool thing is you don't really need a powerfull pc to edit video's. These two programs show that the muscles are on the other side, you only need a good GUI. Good luck!

@vbgenechten Ok, my comment had some really tough words... What I meant is that you can only open the web. You can't use it offline, you can't install anything on it. And I hope it's not *just* the web browser on it, I mean, how would you get a photo on it and upload it to facebook? How would you talk to others with skype and a lot more stuff... It's just too simple... P.S. I really care about photoshop, so...
@dominiclucey123 commas, they help other people understand what you're saying.
The proper way to put your sentence would be "Well said, i agree". A good way of knowing where and when to use commas is to think about when you would pause your speech, if that never applies, you also need to slow down your talking.
