  • No I'm wrong it was wrote in 1943, the singer was born in 1913.

  • I got swave

  • where the hell is Big Daddy ??!!

  • Ey Pisan, Goodfellas brought me here. You shmuck!!!

  • This seems like a good song to play ironically - the only places I've ever heard it are in movies/ video games where the ill-fitting music makes the scene creepy.

  • The stage looks like the Flip Wilson show

  • cool song ice cool singer

  • He died young

  • Hot damn! Charles Trenet or him?

That'd be a tough choice to make.

  • Thumbs up if Bioshock brought you here.

  • @MrRidge7 And you cant entertain someone with an amazing voice? Good one.

  • Comment removed

  • There wont ever be an entertainer as good as Bobby Darin.

  • @gl7371 except for michael jackson and maybe anyone who actually moves on stage. Don't let your nostalgia get in the way of the fact he is a terrible entertainer. He has a great voice but he's as entertaining as a pack of bologna

  • Comment removed

  • @MrRidge7 He is an amazing entertainer, I think that video shows how much Charisma he had and besides, I often sit and watch a pack of bologna for hours. It's captivating.

  • My boyfriend sang this for me while we went for a walk :3

  • When was this recorded >?

  • bioshock, anyone?

  • What a great entertainer he was! So sad there wasn't the know-how back then that there is now . . . he'd still be alive and singin'.

  • never gets old.. beautiful song

do checkout my attempt on this masterpiece, thanks :)

  • now its 3:51 on newyears moring

  • I accidentally drank my moms wine and now im singing this on New Years Day at 12:15 and I feel good

  • Would you kindly hit the repeat button to watch it again?

  • @21kmac12 Such powerful words...

  • This song is about Aragon and Arwen.

  • what happened to music?

  • @Eebra I keep asking myself that! But stuff like this is still very much alive!

  • Bioshock? Bitch plz Finding Nemo...

  • I got here by typing "beyond the sea bobby darin" into the youtube search...

  • i have played this song for my 77birthday 30/12

  • I'm in Middle School and I love this song, but none of my friends like it.. haha

    Happy Birthday!

  • Bobby Darin and this song brought me here. Bobby D. AWESOME!

So many hits, gone too soon. RIP.

  • RIP... died too young

  • Why can't music be like this nowadays? I'm only 18 and love this type of music!!

  • @dreaminofmyknightley

This type of music -- a swinging song -- is still around! Check out Michael Buble, for example. It just isn't as good now.

  • @Drblooter99 I love Michael Buble, because he has the same sound as my favorite people, but no one can replace: Sinatra, Elvis, Bing, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, and all the other awesome singers that used to be around :D

  • @dreaminofmyknightley Music from all times and places is played by afficionados at concerts dotting the world. That doesn't mean it should stop evolving when it hits something good, it just means the good music needs to be preserved, listened to and re-performed, which it is.

  • bobby darin brought me here? cum on guys

  • @i8tevverist Thats what she said.

  • Good taste in music, brought me hear :)

  • Bobby Darin was one of the best. Loved his voice, just like matt munroe, all natural and no autotune. Bioshock??!?? what a load of bollox. and i couldn't careless about being trolled.

  • @xlgosling Oh cmon, its bringing jazz to the masses, who would be offended HOW they found the music, your opinion is the same.

  • @ImYourDeity Fair point. lol. It was the pirates of the caribbean montage that brought me here in the first place.

  • great what more can i say

  • Once again, young Bobby Darin.

  • I think music like this was simple for it's time but for some reason i can't stop listening to it. music back then was much more entertaining than today's stupid hip hop/college rock crap.

  • I love Frank but Bobbie swings like a barn door. What a shame he flew the coop.Good on ya.Bob you where cool.Take it easy Man.Jeffrey.

  • YES

  • lovin it

  • Thumbs up if Finding Nemo brought you here.

  • i am gonna sleep, it is a very very nice song, make me comfort

  • Haaha what a stupid fight. First things first:

    1. Bioshock is a good game and the rest is down to opinion

    2. This is an amazing song which goes well with Bioshock but was famous before.

    3. Gay means happy.

  • Ok, I saw the fight bellow and I find it stupid, this song

Goes really well with the game knowing that I have played the game Bioshock 1 and 2 I listen to the song outside of the game

Infact! I have the song on my phone and Ipod. Theres nothing wrong with Bioshock or the song so get a grip.

  • Nemo !

    xD

  • Um no. You will never change that, it will always be taboo. It will always be an insult unless it is part of Christmas lyrics. Gay means happy? That's the gayest thing I've ever heard. Happy means happy. You shout out loud in a giant crowd "I'm so gay!" and see how many people don't misunderstand. It is not unnatural for heterosexual males to see gay as an insult. Why do you think it is also "queer"? Strait guys get it which you obviously don't so you must be gay.

  • @onexero1 OK! Just do some research on Wikipedia to find the original definition of gay. I can also mention two songs were gay has the "happy" meaning. The first one is "That's amore" by Dean Martin, the second one is "When Johnny comes back marching home". But it seems you are too bored to do some research before talking. Also, you use the word gay to offend someone, so you basically think being gay is something people should be ashamed of, so you are a racist. Logical assumption.

  • @alerommel1 U mad bro?

  • @onexero1 If I was mad, I would swear. It's you the one swearing, so obviously you are mad. Bro?

  • juste un petit rappel : il s'agit d'une chanson créée par Charles Trenet, crée en 1943 et adaptée en anglais par Jack Lawrence sous le titre "Beyond the Sea", interprétée notamment par Bobby Darin en 1960.

  • AWESOME SONG! Also, I didn't like Bioshock. I came here because of the song!

  • @alerommel1 You are gay.

  • @onexero1 ?????? What? And why exactly? You know, if you offend people who didn't say anything wrong, and without giving any reasons of why you do that, you give the impression that you are a troll.

  • @alerommel1 It's a reply to your gay comment. Bioshock is awesome and you know you like it or never played it. You just want some kind of hipster cred by saying you hate something that made this song awesome.

  • @onexero1 You have issues. (Btw I'm a fan of bioshock)

  • @onexero1 Bioshock is nothing more than a mediocre FPS, with horrible shooting mechanics, shallow RPG elements, a storyline copied from System Shock 2 and Deus Ex, repetitive environments, no replay value. It's one of the most overrated games of this generation. This song was awesome wayyyyy before Bioshock was released. If you heard of "Beyond the sea" only 4 years ago, and you think you are cool by offending other people, then I laugh on you, and I am sorry for today's generation of gamers.

  • @alerommel1 Shut up you hipster.

  • @onexero1 LOL! Just to let you know, your trolling is awful, it doesn't work. You still have to learn a lot of things in order to become a succesfull troll. Keep practicing though. Either way, it seems you have no better thing to do in your life, other than fighting on YouTube.

  • @alerommel1 You are a gay hipster who doesn't like good video games that are unique works of art. Everyone else thinks it is awesome and enjoys the music from it and you want I don't know who to give you some bullshit cred because you liked the music before it came out. You get a life. Bioshock breathed new life into a song so that newer generations could appreciate classics like this.

  • @onexero1 Bioshock is a mediocre game. It is not bad, but definitely not a work of art. Tell me, what was really so original in Bioshock??? The horrible and clunky shooting? The ridiculously shallow RPG elements with the Little Sisters? The fact that the game is easier than Super Mario Bros? If you expect from dumbed down, shallow video games in order to start appreciating the classic songs, then it's people like you, who ruin both the music and the gaming industry. The first one because (con.)

  • @onexero1 you people are too bored to search of old songs, and you start appreciating them only when a stupid game comes and makes these old classics look "COOL" by adding them in a cutscene with a "COOL" scuba-diver with a "COOL" drill, you kills you in a "COOL" way. You destroy the gaming industry, by lowering your standars and forgetting that games like Deus Ex did everything Bioshock does, plus 100 more things, and that it was released 7 years before Bioshock.

  • @onexero1 Oh, and please, stop using the word "gay" as an insult. I hate when people do that. When people use words like "gay" in order to attack someone, they just show how racist and immature they are, people who can't accept different sexual orientations. Except if you use the word "gay" with it's original meaning, which is "happy", but I highly doubt you are doing that.

  • @alerommel1 Hey. Bioshock is great. Keep the salt down buddy.

  • @ConscienciaEterea Heheh! Ok, I didn't like Bioshock, but I was just aggressive because the other guy was aggressive too. I just said I didn't like Bioshock, and he kept trolling me again and again. Anyway, I don't think Biosock is that great but there is no reason to do this conversation again! LOL!

  • @onexero1 I played both Bioshock games and they are good, but to say that game made this song awesome is a complete dishonor to one of the greatest voices of all time. That's like saying Fallout 3 made Billie Holiday, when her song "Strange Fruit" is often recognized as the song of the century! Seriously, research! Darin's life story was quite amazing, should you choose to look it up. He was taken from this earth far too soon, but he will live on much longer than that little game, I assure you.

  • 133 people think this song was sung by Frank Sinatra.

  • Shame he missed out on so much joy he bought to so many.

  • How I wish I was born in the 1930's, Bobby Darin I would be dreamy over you <3

  • This guy was a great singer, and a classy comedian. What a guy.

  • Oh my lord the ending is beyond hilarious :D

  • pls checkout my cover for this amazing song, tks :)

  • singing this for chorus :)

  • @doglover1283 You're chorus is awesome.

  • God rest his soul--Bobby Darin was just about the the greatest popular musical recording artist in all its variety of styles RIP

  • This guy will be in the history books of crooners as being ......very very cool !.. Keith Abbott (The British Crooner)

  • Wow, what a God amongst men. Only a fool would argue that.

Jesuis desolé Charles mais cette version est la meilleure.

Most of that is actuallly improvised. Take that, Lotte Lenya

Ladies and gentlemen, the Great Bobby Darin!

Irving Berlin dreamt about him performing his stuff. When I come to power my first action will be to merit him the Bundesverdienstkreuz(First Class) for being so utterly fantastic. Posthumously, sadly so.

  • Yes.

  • I love how he pronounces suave as "s-wave."

  • Bioshock and Pan Am. Yes. <3

  • They don't make people like Bobby Darin any more. The world is a lesser place.

  • Bioshock

  • Check out him trying to tell them to stop playing!--- He just has to keep singing-- "...Song ain't got no ending..." - LMAO

  • Man he is suaaaave!

  • he "sings" like he's talking :s

  • GREAT WORK BOBBY...MY FRIENDS PLEASE SEE ME DO THIS SONG GO TO YOU TUBE AND TYPE STEVE DITULLIO..SPREAD THE WORD THANK YOU SO MUCH...STEVE DITULLIO

  • Great clip! I got a kick out of the cue cards!

  • I feel like a contradiction sometimes. I love the past, but am a huge sci-fi fan, as well as a pretty big gamer. Yes, I heard this because of Bioshock, and I love the Ink Spots because of Fallout. Heck, Mafia II was neat because of the era cars and such, but the music was my favorite part of the entire game. Not to mention the huge relevance of "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" in both Mafia II and Fallout New Vegas. Old music > New music in a majority of cases, especially this era of music.

  • shoutouts to Bobby Darin for that freestyle lol

  • Bioshock brought me here.

  • @LemonsRgo

gmod idiot box episode 2 brought me here. And i never knew that this song was on bioshock.

  • The original one La Mer is better in my opinion

  • BIOSHOCK

  • I wish someone would post OTHER HALF OF ME by bobby Darin

  • Hell of a voice, the bit at the end is excellent.

  • @ptpt1 there was probably someone with a sign telling them when to applaud

  • God, now this is MUSIC!! I WISH music like this was still around :(

  • I wish he wouldn't regain his suave, the last part of the song sounds awesome. Anyone know more songs that sound like the ending of this version?

  • There are performers who play ON the stage and there are those who OWN the stage. Bobby Darin owned it. And he was cool too. He possessed the indefinable quality, swagger, to the nth degree. Most guys never get it. Sinatra had it too. When they performed, you couldn't take your eyes off of them and they had absolute control over their voices. Rare indeed. No one has it today, some get close but that's it.

  • @AlynSymsMusic Il Volo. Just do me a favor and look it up before you say that nobody today has this talent. :)

  • I have the sudden urge to throw bees from my hand...

  • Comment removed

  • Nemo? ... Nahhhhhh! ... Ewan McGregor in "A Life Less Ordinary" :-D

  • @TheRumpoKid a life less ordinary? .. Nahhhhh! ... "Bioshock" :-D

  • @murdoc0niccals666 I was hoping I wasn't the only one brought her by bioshock.

  • @Silk7301 your not alone man.

  • Thank to youtube finding lots of stuff like Bobby that love as a young teen!

  • I like Wililam's cover better :p

  • Thanks for posting this video, while I was watching it I realized that Kevin Spacy Looked like his twin.

  • Why doesn't the 21st century have amazing talent like this?!

  • This never fails to shower me with goosebumps and fill me with a tide of happy childhood memories by the beach. I miss my home.

  • This really looks like Kevin Spacey. Good casting!

  • Waldon James Casotto was a great voice!

  • i'd give this awesome guy a bro-hug for sure... man he is slick

  • I'm only 15 but I feel nostalgic when I hear songs like this I was definately born in the wrong generation

  • @remington71360 me too man... i'm 16.

I'm actually listening to American Pie by Don McLean right now.

I don't know if you know it, but should check it out! Reminds me of some good times :)

  • @handyguy007 im also 16 and i love old songs like this. idk why but i don't really like moderns music im stuck in the past dacades like the 50s 60s 70s and 80s.

  • @xXHomerSimpsonXx me too! Im 17 and love old songs like this

  • @handyguy007 How were listening to American Pie by Don McLean on a Bobby Darin video? (o .O)

  • @LaidBckLev with the magic... of iTunes... :P

  • @handyguy007 American Pie is one of my top 5 favorite songs ever written, its such a good song, look up and read about it, it has a lot of meaning behind it too. Assuming your new to the song you probably don't know its history, its a good song with a story.

  • I know this because my parents used to play this all the time and we'd dance to it. Good times :)

  • I LOVE THIS<3

  • Notice how quickly I regain my suave.

  • This is music. This is Entertainment. Imagine if you go to a restaurant and Bobby Daring sings in that evening, and now imagine Justin Biebershit singing in his place. Which? is better?

  • He farts at 1.11, with appropriate musical accompaniment.
