  • That thing sure goes down low before firing.

  • how much is it worth

  • @th19940305

Realisticaly I could probably get $600-700 around here.

  • @SmallEngineMechanic Cool what did you pay? And its gas right? Like regular gas?

  • whats it run on

  • @th19940305

    Straight gasoline.

  • thats a really cool engine

  • @MrJohnjake

    Thanks, one of my favorites.

  • ahh man...sweet but uhh thats gotta be such a pain :-( no garage space someone needs a shed or addition??

  • @NRP1991

You know it! I have actually been renting a storage unit for over a year now, thats where the rest of my stuff is at.

You are so lucky to have that shop!

  • Can you get it to "hit" more frequently?

  • @coffeefish

Yes. When a load is placed on the engine the flywheels slow down quicker and the governer allows the engine to hit to keep itself at operating speed.

  • How much work can that thing have done. I mean, come on.

  • @coffeefish

What do you mean? The engine is rated at 3 horse power at 500 RPM. It is 88 years old, and judging by the signs of wear in certain places I'd say it has more thet a hand full of hours on it.

  • @SmallEngineMechanic It is just hard to believe that that engine could get much work done, based on the crazy way that it runs.

  • You think with a name like Hercules it would be more then 3HP!

  • nice engine..I like the steel wheels on your cart.

  • @GatheringSticks

Thanks, I got those wheels from an old industrial cart I found at work, they have roller bearings and grease fittings.

    The axles are 3/4" stainless.

  • I agree it sounds like a train neat old engine I wander what it was used for back then?

    great job!!

  • @ncrdisabled

This engine came from a cement mixer built by a company called Jaeger. On the flywheel opposite the magneto you can still see the large drive sproket which drove a chain that tumbled the barrel. There is a Jaeger decal still visible on the water hopper.

  • @ncrdisabled Oh, and Thanks!

  • You got that thing running really good!! It sounds like a locomotive!!☺

  • Now thats how a hercules should run. Great Job!
