I mean, it looks, up until that point (and a bit afterward) like the *True* Godzilla reboot we've been waiting for. (Sigh) I don't live in Japan, but I have to hope that this short segment stirs up enough hype either there or abroad to warrant Toho working with a a production company like Legendary Films to expand this into a full length film.
Legendary's Godzilla picture should take notes from this scene. This is what a Godzilla movie should be, a showcase of an epic disaster down on a human level. Showing Godzilla's tail take out that family's home not only shows how dire the situation is, but it also gives the audience an idea of Godzilla's scale without holding their hand. Legendary should follow this approach, showing only parts of G at a time and keeping the focus on the inevitable human protagonists Legendary will implement.

This was... interesting, to say the least. The CGI Godzilla looks good, and I hope the 2012 film can pull it off. The 1994 project's Godzilla models looked equally awesome, though, and what did we get? An iguana. G-1998 wasn't a bad film. It just wasn't a film about Godzilla. It was about a seperate monster being mistaken for and referred to as Godzilla by the American army, and Toho actually confirmed that in some of their films. Still, I'm looking forward to 2012.

@nammm3 Well, ToHo is a Japanese company and this movie is a comedy, filled with all sorts of references to japanese pop culture, like anime. Though anime has'nt been around nearly as long as the Dai Kaiju genre, which Toho pioneered with the first godzilla movie.
Amazing how this little clip from this movie generated so much excitement even though it's not an actual Godzilla movie. Even though it's CGI, if done properly and represents the real Godzilla, People will enjoy. Sooo...when they make the real movie, don't try to remake, just continue from the story line. Even though it's CGI, if done properly and represents the real Godzilla, People will enjoy. Sooo...when they make the real movie, don't try to remake, just continue from the story line. When he shows up, everyone knows it's Godzilla and they know stopping him is like trying to stop an earthquake. Depends what distracts him (another monster) or when he decides to leave.

This is what the 1998 Godzilla attempt should've been, agreed! GINO is not Godzilla; it was a Velociraptor wannabe with rose thorns on its back and power puff breath that RAN FROM A FIGHT. Godzilla doesn't run from a fight; he STARTS AND FINISHES the fight. Godzilla is an unstoppable force of nature as destroyer. Godzilla is eternal. This was beautifully done, and I am an old school suitmation fan saying this, too.

It was much more credible. This one really looks fake. But I think you grew up wiht the old and true godzilla movies that all look like this one so I respect your opinion!

Why Not? Although it will probably be in 3D an 2D... I kinda hope they go the 3D root for this one. As i am usually a fan of this Cheap 3D phase Hollywood is going threw. If they spend the extra money an do Godzilla right this time. Could you imagine High quality effects of Godzilla, Not to mention his atomic breath just blowing up in 3D + IMAX. That would def be the Ultimate blockbuster if they don't mess it up. It's budget will no doubt be 150 million +

@superdouradas There was nothing "realistic" or "credible" about Zilla. Just because you grew up with Jurassic Park and the hacks who made the 1998 film preyed on that does not make Zilla realistic.
Iguanas are not Velociraptors. Velociraptors are not unstoppable nuclear juggernauts. Iguanas are also vegetarians, they don't burrow. Nor do they reproduce asexually. Despite the Tristar Godzilla's fanbase's pontification about how "realistic" Zilla is, it mangles science as badly as Toho does.
