@narusaku9978 Speaking as a vocalist myself, I love that moment when an audience starts to applaud during the final note of a song. I love that they were so moved the felt the need to express it right then.
@eruleptanero and as a member of the audience, as well as a competitor/vocalist at this convention i entirely agree. It was just too impressive to sit there and do nothing on the final lock.
The initial post is an example of why Tim Waurick simply is not the greatest tenor the society has ever known. Turn the volume up a bit, or put your headphones on, and listen to his tone. Revealing, huh?
There's just no reason to oversing in barbershop (excepting very brief passages, consisting of less than a bar, where improper vocal technique is used for schmaltz) -- if you want to hear a classic godawful shouting match, look for "Tonight, Tonight." Note that I am *not* referring to the 'Stix. :D
No sir! I meant the video by a novice or not-quite-ready-for-International quartet. The post is ghastly -- unless you're Chris from Gotcha!, you /sing/ barbershop, you /don't/ scream it.
Im not sure if you ever listen to barbershop... but its fairly obvious that you dont appreciate good singing when you hear it. Tim Waurick is the best tenor to ever hit the society... Best posts EVER
@Gman8990 in your opinion, but remember, if u put tim waurick in another quartet, it mite not be soo great, i dnt think you can claim one person is the best coz he can post long notes. tony de rosa can post long aswell. but yes he is amazing.
@Gman8990 Not so. Rather, my criteria differ from yours. Barbershop was once an art form accessable to Everyman. Over the past twenty years (for example), technical difficulty has displaced style and originality. Listen to some Michigan Jake; it'll open your ears. Contemporary contests seem to favor singers with extreme vocal ranges. Great to listen to, fun to sing, but not particularly easy to teach to someone who the barbershop bug bit just last week.
@ainandil i have to politely disagree with you, barbershop still is accessable all men. but then again not every barbershopper can live to be in a international award winning quaret can they?
God tim you need to work on your control breathing towards the end you obviously cant hold a long note :P OMG that is such a lie :(
HOW OFTEN DO YOU TRAIN??
To hold on for 27 seconds, that pitch and that loud you must have powerfull lungs, I have seen videos of uyou holding notes for 30-33 seconds but I have heard you do an even more impressive 36 seconds.
He used to have a recording on his website (still available if you know the direct URL) of him singing a 37-second hanger — in the FEMALE RANGE! The recording is a SWEET ADELINE learning track demo!
Found it!!

Another tag ruined by a stupid audience.
Sote9108 3 years ago
Well, since this was recorded from a camcorder, surely the live audience still heard the entire tag just fine. I hope so!
And, you know that as a performer, when they start clapping before you're done... you've succeeded.
