  • I must ask, how do you get such clear recording? Is the audio recorded at the same time as the video? (either way, it is still amazing!)

  • Hi there. Yes, the sound is what you see. I have a good microphone beside the camera and then sync the sound from the recorder with the video sound.

    Kind regards,

    Per-Olov

  • I'm working on this piece now just trying to clean it up. Well done thank you.

  • Hi Mr Kindgren, please can you do a cover of the Choro of Villa Lobos. It would really help me to play it.

    Thanks :)

  • I was looking for a good recording of this piece. Wonderful to find out that you had one. Always a fan.

  • I remember playing this song and another song by Bach for NYSSMA (music festival in New York) and the Friday before the festival i played this song for my senior choir class and at the part where you do the sweep and end on the B1:48 , I could literally feel the silence in the room. None of them heard me ever play any Classical Guitar before and when i finish the song the were freaking out and thought it was so good. But I am always humble and tried to tell them it was nothing hehe

  • your quality of sound is simply superb

  • the timbre works better when the first E is played on the D string, and that is the one and only critique i have. Very beautiful, wide dynamics, world class interpretation. I give it 5 stars

  • I'd love to listen to "A Lenda do Caboclo" on your strings. Do you already have it?

  • needs allot of filling.

  • I came across your channel, and I listened to a couple of your recordings and was absolutely stunned. I wanted to ask you if you could play and record the 4th prelude of Villa-Lobos, because that is one of my favourite pieces for guitar. But I decided to search for it first. And here it is: one of only two Villa-Lobos pieces on your channel. And what a great performance it is, thank you!

  • i disliked the fact that you started playing TOO fast after playing TOO slow... either speed up the 1st part or slow down the 2nd. its a beautiful music, and i am disappointed.

nevertheless, your other performances are outstanding, and I do consider you a great musician.

  • You are very good!

  • such a magnificent tone! so lyrical! I hope I can be halfway as good when I finish learning this song.

  • how do you get such good quality audio??

  • its a lovely interpretation. V-L is great to play although i havent got very far with him. the music makes me feel like im doing something very challenging i also find i can put alot of expression into it.

  • Dear Sir, I really love your playing. It's exquisite.

    Kind Regards

    Steve Canty

  • such a lovely interpretation of this piece. thoroughly atmospheric

  • Have you ever recorded Milonga by Jorge Cardoso? If not, I request this song! I imagine your rendition will be beautiful.

  • Have you ever recorded Milonga by Jorge Cardoso? If not, I request this song! I imagine your rendition will be beautiful.

  • The best version on YouTube of this song.

  • harmonic on the 13 ? hmm thanks never knew there was one there

  • Can you see my videos and comment please? I would like

  • I play that piece with a different interpretation but this one isn't bad at all! :)

  • I enjoy all your videos. I wish I had picked up classical guitar a few years ago, but hopefully I'll be able to do it in a few years after school.

  • thank you for playing this song you are great like i stated before.

I PLAYED THIS SONG AT CHURCH FOR MY FATHERS FUNERAL, AND

    I CRYED LIKE A BABY AFTER I

    FINISHED PLAYING.

    HE WAS 97 YEARS OLD. I'M 71 YEARS .

    ---------NEVER STOP PLAYING YOUR GUITAR-----------------

  • c'était super franchement. J'ai un petit conseil à te donner: pour le passage avec les harmoniqe tu devrais encore plus ralentir. Sinon bravo

  • I admire you for playing this so well "without" the sheet music! All notes were correct, the only thing you didn't conform to are the speed-specifications, but I like your personal specifications ;-) . I personally don't like the cantabile-part being played too fast, but you managed to play it very clean and musical!

  • love this song ,and sometimes hate

Villalobos. learned this song back in the

1960's. must say, you play like I do.

At 71 years I'll keep playing till the day

I die . Please dont stop playing.

( soul and feeling) iT TAKE YEARS AND

YEARS TO PLAY LIKE YOU DO. FIRST YOU PAY THE PRIZE AND THEN MAYBE YOU CAN PLAY WITH

    YOUR SOUL===============.

  • Mr. Kindgren, I had no idea you had a video of this piece! I'll never forget the day I memorized this one. I enjoyed playing it for some time. I totally forget the whole song now...lol maybe some day, I'll take it out again. I love Villa-Lobos!!!!! Scott

  • Mr. Ouellette :-)

I remember playing this Christmas Eve for my fiancés family when I was 20 years. They all looked like: WHAT!? Is that music? :-) I tell you thay didn't like it! They never asked me to play again. I guess I ruined their Christmas totally that year! LOL

I have a frustrating relationship with V-L. I hate and love him at the same time... Have to talk to my shrink about that... and other things too

    See you Scott!

    Per-Olov

  • Ha ha ....that's a funny story! I thought I saw you in the waiting room...to see the same shrink!! I too have a funny relationship with Villa-Lobos. When I first learned No.4 Gavotta from Suite Populaire, measure 27, there's an A# and a B natural. People always thought I made a mistake! so, I would eliminate the A# for people who don't know Villa-Lobos music!! lol

  • Simplesmente maravilhoso........

  • Great musicality- and amazing harmonics. If you do a bit of checking, you will find that this is probably the best played video of this piece available on youtube. You play the fast section with GREAT musicality-speedy but still nice to listen to. Also, you have a great feel for the piece.

Keep playing! You are a master!

  • You are wrong, greekjorda35. This man is a wizard on the guitar and if you haven't played longer than 8 years this video is a good tutorial on how to carefully execute a contemplative piece in a masterful way. It takes a gentleman.

  • DAMN! thats great!

  • you manage to make the arpegio part quite musical - this is not common

  • exelent peo,que microfono usas para el audio? realmente muy buen sonido.

  • This is absolutely amazing. You are one excellent guitar player.

Did you have your guitar miked? That's a really clear sound.

  • nice trick at 1:33, i don't like this chord, too, but i try to do it correctly in the same speed

  • wow ! what a great sound. Can I ask what woods your guitar is made from ?

  • Dude. Seriously. Some people actually take this stuff for real. If you think his performance of it is so bad, you play it. And pp, or pianissimo, that's supposed to be quiet. You don't "edit" classical music. If you do, it means you're not good enough.

  • snob

  • uouuuuuuuuu, Fantastisco...........

    Abraços do Brasil....

    \o/

    Best Wishes from Brazil..

  • A fantastic performance!

    The inspiration continues... :)

  • have u made saome cds yet?

i would really like to buy alle ur great songs ;)

  • hi mr kindgren, its been a year now that im listening to your music, i must tell you how fantastic it is to see how dedicated you are to your art. your music helped me in some hard moments that ive gone trough, youre a great source of inspiration for me, as i play guitar and piano, arent anyways i could buy your album?

  • An absolutely amazing performance. I am in the process of deciding my guitar examination pieces, and I thought that following the music with your recording would be my best bet. Your performances are always technically and musically perfect. I concluded that I absolutely wanted to do this piece for my guitar exam.

I then read the video description. You played it perfectly, note for note. These videos are of an elite on youtube, of true quality and musicianship.

    Thank you

  • Thank YOU! I am honored. I am glad you can "use" me. I wish you all the best with your examination.

    Thanks for the kind words.

    Per-Olov

  • @D0ug16 dont know about the technical perfection in this piece though

  • i wanna buy the sheet music for this.. you should put it on your website

  • Hi! I cannot put it there because I need the copyrights for it and that is very difficult to get. But try Chanterelle(com)

    I think they have it...

    Per-Olov

  • @munkeey1123 There's a book out there. It's very cheap and has all of his major pieces including the preludes and Choros

  • amazing. Sir! you are definitly better than the very best. thanks for posting your excellent work.

  • Hi there. I am sorry for the late reply but I ahve so many to answer...:/

Thank you. I am honored by your kind words. Please keep listening to me.

    Per-Olov

  • Sensacional... tenho orgulho de Villa-Lobos ser Brasileiro e mostrar o valor da nossa música para o mundo todo. Você representou de maneira magnífica! Parabéns!

    Abraços.

  • This one was recommended to me... for a reason I can see. Thanks for sharing!

  • You noob assl sucide you.++

  • I love especially how you play the first part of the song, it has definitely a lot of feeling and emotion. By the way, in my sheets the first note is picked from the ninth fret on g-string :) But let's get real it doesn't matter, it's just how the player's style is.

  • Peo, I love your playing. just one question. who made this beautiful sounding guitar?

  • Thanks... Eric?

I am happy you like my playing. I play a Philippe Jean-Mairet from Switzerland. I ordered it in 1987. I hve heard 5-6 of his instruments and I am sure I got the best!! :-) But I have to add that I work a lot with my nails and how I hit the strings...

    Merry Christmas,

    Per-Olov

  • Greetings again from chilly NY, Peo. I was introduced to this work last night by my instructor and I thought, who better to get some good fingerings from but you. Wonderful job and I hope I do this work the justice you have.

  • Hi there! And we thought of going to NYC during New Years Eve just to be on Times Square at 00:00 But I think we will stay in a warmer place then. :-)

I am honored you l"use me" as a guidance! Please keep doing that.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • You mean warmer like Miami perhaps?.....:-)

    Can't stop listening.....thanks and Seanson's Greetings

  • Impecavel. Da para perceber, com o meu pouco conhecimento de musica comparado ao dele, que e um otimo violonista. Perfeito, tanto na tecnica quanto na interpretacao.

  • Ola!

    Muchas gracias!

    Saludos,

    Per-Olov

  • i think a bit more vibrato would be cool

  • OK! Thanks. I will think about that next time I play it. Appreciated.

    Per-Olov

  • no komment super

  • :-) You DID comment! Thanks a lot!

    Per-Olov

  • One of the best interpretation I heard of this piece, It might need to be one inch faster though

  • Thank you! Appreciated. I tihnk you are right. It should be slower... I will remember that next time. :-)

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • u wouldnt happent to have sheet music for any of your music would you? i would be willing to buy copies of it if you do

  • Thank you. I have a web shop at

per-olovkindgren(com) please visit and see if there are something you like.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • ur a chode

  • Jeg elsker "mystikken" der er over det nummer. (:

  • Jeg er faktisk i gang med at lære det nummer! :D

  • Virkelig? Fedt! Håber du kan lide det! Held og lykke!

    Per-Olov

  • You are an inspiration to all of us struggling classical guitarists!-thank you very much-Greg Hyslop

  • Thanks Greg! I am happy you like my version of VL 4. Not everybody does :-)

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • I dunno, ChiefofBuddha - maybe he should back off on the gain a little. That full sound is overwhelming the electronics. And it is a beautiful, full sound. Wow.

  • Pelle, This is just beautiful!

  • What a nice way to remark your 100 video!!!

Sorry I didn't appreciate it before.

  • Ah! Do you remember that talk we had 55 videos ago? :-) I was devestated! Now I am counting the days!! 11 is it?

    Yours,

    Pell'

  • Thank you honey.

I am very happy you listen to Villa-Lobos. I like him a lot. Despite his tendency to use repetative arpeggios :)

Hope the fireworks was beautiful last night! I really wish I had been there! :-/ well... Took a video of it?

    Love you!

    Pelle

  • WOW so beutiful !!!!thanks

  • Thanks a lot!

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • Thanks my friend!

    appreciated!

    Per-Olov

  • Hey P!

You gotta fix your right hand ... It's like, sooooo annoying. It moves from the right to the left and arghhh ... I just can't watch it. Where do they teach that sort of thing?!

Lol joking of course. Sure, people are entitled to their opinions, but this is just ... Oh well.

    I'm studying this, yay!

    Love,

    Jo

  • Saludos Jo!

How dare you critizice me!? Ugga!!! Or is it bugga? Anyways, you only have to listen, not looking. But on the other hand I know it's hard not to look at such a handsome man... welll that's my destiny...:-)

I am looking very much forward to critizice your version of this (easy) piece.

    Kiss,

    Per

  • yes that's me! I'm SUCH a daredevil! Ugga you betcha!

Is this easy? I have no idea; haven't looked at it yet.

    Jo x

  • LOL... Hi Jo. For a second there I thought you were mad at me :)

You know very well NOTHING is easy on a guitar, yes? And this isn't either.. But I am sure you can play this beautifully!

    Kiss,

    Per

  • Nooo I'm ALWAYS joking! You know that!

  • ALWAYS? Also when you tell me you like my music!! WOW! I was soooooo fooled! :-) Now I am joking too! It's contagious, I think!

    Per

  • Well, ok, not ALWAYS. Only when I'm saying nasty things, I mean the exact opposite. I need to get back to studying and eating chocolate donuts now ...

Oh by the way; I had my last guitar lesson before the holidays last week, and I got 15 (!!) pieces to study in 10 weeks. Yay!!!

    Love,

    Jo

  • Hi!! 15!! WOW! You will be busy! Adivce: go to the supermarket today, buy a load of chocolate and get starting!

Good luck! I hope, demand, we will hear them on YouTube...?

    Per

  • Sure you will see them on YT! But after I've gone through them with my teacher. It always goes like that; I think it's good enough, post it, and then my teacher tells me I should change this, and this, and that ... So I'm gonna wait for a while this time.

Maybe I'll post one of your pieces!

    Love,

    Jo

  • Hello! I would not mean to interrupt the

    big guitar-playing-chocolate-eating-comment-

posting festival but I think that both of you

are top in my list of favorite musicians

for different reasons. I am looking forward

to all your new videos! - Athan

  • Hi! No worries, interrupt any time you like.

You are one of my nicest subscribers! And that is saying something (they're all so nice lol).

  • LOL---

    Per

  • When I first heard this one....I felt emotionally exhausted!! (that's a good thing). It's soooo dramatic...but I love playing this one. Always a treat to watch your videos...Scott

  • grande...bella la chitarra e l'interpretazione...armonici spettacolari...

li voglio pure io cosi!!!! :P

  • Ciao! Mille grazie!

    Salute,

    Per-Olov

  • All guitarists - Prof. Kindgren is one of the best exponents of understanding what John Williams meant when he said 'The magic of the guitar lies in the dying away of the note'.

He also respects the Segovian observation that the guitar is the most polyphonic of the stringed instruments.

Two simple, but profound, realities. Yet I'm finding even some 'concert' guitarists ignoring these truths.

Are audiences being let down? You bet. And it's time to speak up.

  • Thank you! What a kind comment. And I am happy you speak up! :-)

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • LOL.... I move the R.H. to get a different color in the chords. I don't need to work on that as it's intentional! .-)

I appreciate your comment though and it's OK you didn't like it.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • If you care about the tone of your guitar...you should find a better mic. its pointless on this video as it is flat.

  • Hi ther! Thanks for your comment!

I think I have one of the best mics there is actually. They have been used for many CD recordings (my own too) that has won awards for best sound. So I really think you are on the wrong track here. Maybe you just don't like my sound. That is OK, but the mics are the best! :-)

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • great sound - what mics are being used? many thanks

    K

  • Thanks. I have a AKG C 460 B mic that I bought when I had money 20 years ago. :-) It's very good.

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • thanks for the info - beautiful playing as always Per-Olav

  • That was the funniest guitar-related comment I ever read on youtube, period.

  • the one tellin peo to keep his RH fixed :))

  • I often get bored when I am watching a video that I have seen many times before. BUT NOT WHIT THIS ONE! I find myself sitting for four minutes and listening and enjoying the music as if it was the first time I ever heard music! This is perhaps the most beautiful piece ever written for guitar, and you really play it well! Now I just wonder, where can I get the music sheet? I have been looking for it fore a while. Thanks a lot fore sharing this whit us!

    Anton

  • Hi Anton,

Thank you. I am happy you can listen to this so many times. I like this piece too but it's very modern so it's not many people that can appreciate it.

I tihnk you have to buy this from the publisher (Max Echsig)

    Kindly,

    Per-Olov

  • you are great contributer to this youtube world. Keep commenting. lol...

  • Thank you! Youa re very kind! I try to bring my music out to the world aand YouTube is a great place for that. Thanks for listening!

    Kindly,

    Per-OLov

  • One of the finest versions of this piece I have ever heard, and one of the most unique because you don't follow the music too strictly. The guy who said you were too interpretive is wrong; I think your fingerings sound better than the written ones. I'd love to hear the way you play the other four preludes.

  • Thank you!

I am very happy you like my version. I always look for fingerigs that are "musical" and not always the easiest and obvious.

    Kind regards,

    Per-Olov

  • Awesome interpretation!

Thank you for sharing this piece Per

    It's very nice = )

  • Thank you! I am happy you like it!

    Kind regards,

    Per-Olov

  • your version is sweet

  • Thanks a lot!

    Kind regards,

    Per-Olov

  • You have a superb sound on this piece. I love hearing you play it.

  • Thank you! I am honored.

    Per-Olov

  • This piece is so atmospheric and you played it well and although I am a gentleman of metal I am always impressed with classical. I also just started learning this and it helped, thanks!!!

  • Thank you. I am happy you listen to my playing!

    Please keep playing (and listening)

    Good luck!

    Per-Olov

  • I would like you to be my teacher!...

    I know, I dream a lot.... hahaha.

    You're great!

  • Thank you.

Dreaming is good! It might happen... keep playing!... and dreaming!

    Per-Olov

  • Good Job,Your Guitar Is Grate!!

  • Thanks! LOL Well, what agout me...? Am I good too? :-)

    Per-Olov

  • I prefer this to Julian Bream's version I'm learning this for my grade 7 and watching this has helped me allot. Thanks

  • Thank you! I am honored as Bream is my hero! :)

    Good luck with your exam!!

    Per-Olov

  • Terrific! When I hear this piece I think of the quiet of the forest. An event disturbs a flock of birds and they fly away. After they are gone the forest is quiet again. Beautiful!

  • Hi! Thanks for the "pictures". What a beautiful image you created!

    Kind regards,

    Per

  • Though technically sound, you are too interpretive: We must remember that villa lobos was a guitarist who played a modern guitar, so he knew what he was doing wen he made those fingerings (it was intentional). Also remember that the preludes are homage to the natives of his brazil, and the bass melody is supposed to represent the booming indigenous pipes of that culture and harmonic rhythms represent the a distant group of drums, so they should be much more pianissmo then you are playing them.

  • Thank you for your advice. As a professional, I appreciate that. Did you post it on YT?

    Kindly,

    Per

  • i have just discovered you!!! what I like most about your interpretations are the contrasting tempo dynamics. so many other posters consider music to be a speed competition. The room acoustics you record in are beautiful. The slower sections have a somnolent warmth and atmosphere. the fast sections are brittle and percussive. both are perfectly phrased and judged. Very wonderful. Add me to your list of admirers. elton ritchie

  • just greatful!!!I love you interpretation in every pieces you play!!very good....Have you ever played the second moviment of the aranjuez's concert?I'd be very curious to listen how you could interpret it.

one of your best italian fan :)

  • I spent a few hours last weekend watching and listening to practically all of your videos. Since I can't comment everywhere, I will just do it here - my favorite: great stuff, great interpretations. You are now my second most favorite guitarist - the first being my son (ok, he is not as good technically, being only 13) :-)

Any chance you will record the Bach (violin) Chaconne - you seem to like Bach... (so do I)?

  • Thanks for listening to me. I am honored I am your second favorite guitarist. LOL

I love Bach. I am actually practicing Chaconne but if I will post it here depands...

    Please keep listening to me,

    Kindly,

    Per

  • Yap, I've just established it;

You and me are better than Mr John Williams (when it comes to Villa-Lobos), his renditions are fricking boring!

    Love,

    Jolina

  • YA! Your keyboard is working!! Congrats! Welcome back to civilization! :)

Yep! We are much better than him! Sure! I really loved your Nr.3!!

    Obrigado! And kiss!

    Per

  • Here it is. And I got a "-1" lol. Thank god only 1 person thinks Williams is better than us.

  • (I am really very sorry if I have upset anyone with that remark).

I am just going to say sorry beforehand with everything I say now.

  • Yes, you and Per are really good at Villa

Lobos! Very sober! I also like Julian

Bream's interpretation (there is a youtube

video of it). I am looking forward to the

entire series of preludes performed by

    you. - Athan

  • Aww thanks Athan! Per and I are honoured!

    All the best,

    Jolina

  • Mr. Peo, so happy to see you playing brazilian stuff! I think this is the most sober version I've ever seen, really loved it =~~~~~~~

    Greetings from Brazil, again =D

  • Ola!

Abrigado! Or what ever you say... :)

I am honored by your kind words. This was even a surprise to me. I haven't played it for 15 years or more and one evening I just remembered it like that... strange...

    Thank you!

    Per

  • Hey Peo, I was curious what kind of training you have had. You're a very proficient player.

  • Hey! Thank you. I am educated and have a diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen. I live as a classical guitar professor there.

    Kindly,

    Per

  • Thanks a lot!! I am happy you listen to all my videos!!

    Kindly

    Peo

  • Pretty funny. All lefts reversed. Extremely beautiful interpretation. Prefer this to Williams or Bream renditions.

  • LOL. You saw it! Thank you for listening all the way to the end... :-)

And I am honoured you like my version. Thank you!!

    Kind regards,

    Peo

  • Hi Peo, I'm brazilian and I feel happy to know that you appreciate the music of the best composer in all American continent of the 20th century, I really like your work and attention with music. Keep making this beautiful work. Thank you.

  • Thank you Ze. I love South american music! I was born in Colombia and i love a Venezuelan woman. And I like V-L a lot!

    Per-Olov

  • Awesome job, as usual.

Kind of random question, but have you ever learned Ushers Waltz?

  • Thanks. No I have never seen the sheet music. But I might buy it soon beacuse it's great music.

    Kindly,

    Peo

  • Peo: trust me, the speed is great and there's nothing to fix cause it ain't broke. :D:D

  • Thanks! :-) I tried to answer to your message but YT wouldn't let me. I have made a comment on your channel instead.

    Kind regards,

    Per-Olov

  • What's a "channel"? Sorry:D

  • The page you open when you click on your username above your message...

    Per-Olov

  • Great, But if it have a litte faster than this , everything'll be perfect ^_^!

  • Thanks. Well, I cannot play the arpeggo faster... sorry :)

    Kindly,

    Peo

  • I see there's a lot of work in your right hand and that is the thing that i appreciated (sometimes near the neck and sometimes near the bottom).

It makes it sounds beautiful, different feelings.

    Keep doin' it ;)

  • Thanks. Good observation. That's the way I "color" the sounds...

    Kind regards,

    Peo

  • Very much impressed !

  • Thank you! I'm honoured!

    Kindly,

    Peo
