nice laptop but i think you should've picked up the 3820TG( i3 2 cores) it's just a bit more expensive but it's worth it ,you would've had a better machine.

i have the 3810tzg (su 2700) and i'm very happy with it. The only thing i don't like is the rocker/clicker on the touchpad. it's too stiff, but if you click it on the very edge where it meets the keyboard deck there is less resistance. i just try to use the tap to click on the touchpad as much as possible.

this computer has a nice keyboard and it's very thin and light. you can get over 8 hrs with moderate use if you aren't watching video. if i watch vids it gets about 6 hours.

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that this glossy screen is slightly less annoying than the average glossy screen. More forgiving than the Asus UL30, for example.

Could you please comment on that?

P.S. As one among many annoyed customers by the glossy fever, I would appreciate some more feedback about glossy screens in general, in your reviews: very glossy, average, not so much... etc. Just an idea.

Personally I'm not understanding this variance of glossiness that I've heard in some reviews - I haven't noticed any glossy display being less or more glossy than another display.

I guess that's a subtle touch, difficult to see perhaps if you don´t have both computers side by side. Or maybe it´s just not there, who knows.

Rocker button on touchpad: lame. Hinge on LCD that doesn't allow much tilting (back): lame. Pay hundreds of dollars more for the dual core CULV: lame. Otherwise, not bad.

Hey Mate, All said and done, would you still recommend this notebook for someone who would use it MOSTLY for some Powerpoint presentations, Firefox windows, winamp together and an occasional CS 1.6 game thrown at it.

Plus does the 8 hour battery life claim hold true?

I get roughly 8 hours with 30% brightness, Wi-Fi ON, web browsing, so Acer's claim is quite true.

This notebook is perfect for your needs. Watch my review first though because I did have an issue with the display flickering.

i've got no audio at work, but does it play hd video (720p -1080p) and hd youtube videos?

Many HD YouTube videos (the best quality ones) do not play smoothly. HD videos like H.264 files / quicktime videos (movie trailers) play 100% smooth and all. If you want to play smooth HD Youtube, the dual-core version of this notebook does it.
