My mum used to sing the chorus when we'd offer to make her a cuppa, funny found most of my dads lines were robbed off Bob Hope & Peter Sellers looks like mum was the same..........& she used to sing Shrimp Boats by Jo Stafford if we threatend to come home late, You better hurry hurry hurry home.......
@Thaiholidayhomescom It must be my English background (my dad is English), but even though I've lived my whole life in the States I LOVE my Earl Grey, and other kinds of teas too! hehe
Too true my dear...How frightfully delightful..divinely English...is there a song about fish & chips? I must look for one, ta ta.. pip pip.. toodle-oo and all that stuff...
The song is from C.B. Cochran's revue of 1937, 'Home and Beauty', which was written for the Coronation season (I think it was at the Adelphi). So the recording was probably made that year. Sung in the show by Binnie Hale, it was the big hit of the revue. Nelson Keys, Gitta Alpar and Greta Gynt were some of the other performers.

I love the scene in "The Dresser" when Tom Courtney sang it to to the sick and failing Albert Finney. Very intertaining. The song wasn't written in the original play.
This song is cute and pretty catchy! I love it! :)

Can anyone tell me which piece, written by Herbert/Sullivan, this is from? I'm trying to credit them in a quote :-)
Thanks!

A lovely song and a great singer.
I have a copy of this record and enjoy always.
Perhaps it's due to the fact i drink 20+ cups of tea a day.
