  • thanks for my video! :)

  • If that actually played in school maybe kids would be more willing to go.

  • that was my first final fantasy game i played and my fav one then FFX-2~

  • Holy fucking nostalgia.

  • 11 people don't like hotdogs

  • Balamb Garden felt like home :)

  • I would have loved to attend Balamb Garden. Beautiful building, serene homely atmosphere, it can FLY and all of your female classmates are cute and wear miniskirts all the time. You learn how to use magic, weapons, and Guardian Forces from a hot blonde Instructor who wields a whip and shoots lasers from her eyes. And once you graduate, you're fully capable of squashing Time Kompressions, rescuing damsels from moon monsters and saving the world from evil Sorceresses who speak in MK dialect.

  • That's it!!! I'm transferring to Balamb Garden! Screw Community College!!!

  • This was my first FF too. I put this theme on my iPod, not because it's the best in the game (it most certainly isn't the best part of such a brilliant soundtrack), but because it's the one I probably heard most often in the game. Instant nostalgia.

  • WHY DO MOST VIDEO GAMES NOWADAY SUCK?

  • @VanMedia BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS!

  • @SimplyTragon EXACTLY lol finally someone gets it. real rpgs no longer exists. they are all "Action rpg" and but action they really mean FPS lol..

  • Comment removed

  • This was the first Final Fantasy I ever played, the first videogame I ever played, as a matter of fact, and this theme (and the whole atmosphere of Balamb Garden) just made me so calm and peaceful.

Schools should be spacious, welcoming places with waterfalls and peaceful music. I would have certainly responded better if my school looked more like this, and less like a prison.

  • @clyhiz

This was my first video game and Final Fantasy game as well.

Balamb Garden was peaceful, but I also found the music to be somewhat creepy.

    Like it was too peaceful...

  • @clyhiz This would be perfect school for me!

  • @clyhiz Same here! Ff8 was the first game i ever played......i think......and then i broke my memory card.

  • @clyhiz first video game you ever played? the gods must have been smiling on you.

  • @clyhiz lol i know what you mean, my school is right beside a police station too XD And we have bars on our windows. Ugh, the way schools are set up makes it so un-motivational to WANT to learn, its all forceful learning.

  • @TheStephenTColbert

It's not weird. Why video games can't inspire people as do movies and books?

  • @APerfectSystem Haha thank you I've been saying that for years. I'm sure if someone like bill gates wanted to, they could found something like this. Not a military academy of course but some other form of advanced technological school.

If you look into some of buckminster fullers real life design plans, they look remarkably similar to balamb garden

  • @DELPHIIII

Not just technologically advanced but also socially, where individuality is not the enemy of community, where our faiths and beliefs is not an obstacle, a source of conflict between us, because in the end, we want the same thing, be happy.

I wish this school to be the beginning of a new form of social organization, where the SeeD of Brotherhood will be planted in the heart of each new generation, gradually eliminating unnecessary suffering, opening the eyes of our race to the Truth.

  • @APerfectSystem I'm not sure about the whole broterhood and Truth thing, sounds a bit too culty to me, but go ahead take a look at the venus project website and youll see what was probably the inspiration for this garden. Also check out some TED talks on education reform. Pretty cool combination of you ask me.

  • @DELPHIIII

LOL! Thank you for the sincerity! You sound like an open minded individual!

Do things sounding "culty" is bad for you?

Believe it or not, i watched Ken Robbinson talks on TED 2 years ago, and i already know about the Venus Project. I even conversed with the user @SilverGalford in one of the Projects videos and i got very interesting insights after it.

Also, what do you think about discussing this subject properly in some Final Fantasy forum?

  • @APerfectSystem Yes I thinks cults are generally a bad thing.

And although ken robinsons talks are quite funny, if you listen closely he's not really saying anything new or substantive. Take a look at people like sugata mitra or rich baraniuk who are actually implementing reform small scale.

And thanks for the offer but theres really not that much to talk about. Although we are very much likely to be kindred spirits with similar goals :)

  • @DELPHIIII You're revealing yourself a valuable source of information, i appreciate your patience. I'll check those quoted.

About the "cult" thing, don't get it wrong! I just meant that the world would be a better place if we considered each other as brothers and sisters to some extent. And to identify yourself and others as spirits is exactly

    the first step.

And i believe there's much to talk about it. I even considered discussing it in the Eyes on Final Fantasy forums, it seems very active.

  • @APerfectSystem identifying or labeling yourself and others as anything other than who you already are, including "spirits", is generally a bad idea imo.

If the form you mentioned has a discussion about a real life school like this I will check it out. An interesting topic for me for sure.

  • Really nostalgic song. Makes me think back to my childhood whenever I hear it...

  • I used to sit in Balamb for hours because of this music, I miss playing this game, I think ill unpack my ps2 and play it, good memories, nothing like a classic game to get the stench of these so called modern games outta you.

  • @Dragonitlas Lol, touche, my friend.

  • this song reminds me of many nights in my younger days, trying to stay up all night playing ff8, and this particular song overpowering my desire to stay awake.

  • @uhhsam

    It usually makes me sleepy!

  • A school that flies... Who needs taxi service? :P

  • HORRIBLE game! Lame story with terrible character design. I try not to hate Tetsuya Nomura.... but damn it, he's not making it easy for me. But the music, I've always admired as it is Uematsu. Great song.

  • @Beledal

    Rage Harder?

  • @Faroger97 lol might as well. For me, this game has almost no redeeming qualities. The music has always been great though... but this was the beginning of the end for Final Fantasy (9 is an exception). Final Fantasy is not an anime nor should it ever be... but it is under Nomura's control.

  • @Beledal

No it went down hill after 10 IMO

  • @Beledal no redeeming qualities? ff10 was terrible and ff9 was good but the end was too fairy tale for me. everyone has there opinion though

  • @Beledal so your telling me that if possible you would choose NOT to live in a flying school and learn what they do in this game, youd say no? the game had a very different story yes but you cant honestly say it was terrible. if the title on the box wasnt "final fantasy" im sure you would of had a different opinion lol

  • @TripLxChaos If it had a different title, I wouldn't have bothered playing it at all. lol Honest answer.

  • Played through this game hardcore using lethal junction combinations all the way up to disc 3 and missed a GF that I couldn't have gotten until the end game. Rage quit.

  • KING K WUZ HERE 2011

  • If I were to become a headmaster I'd play this and Ami on the very first day children start their education; further more I'd play it on breaks along with rest of FF soundtracks classic's and great music from other rpg's.And if I were to catch some smart pupil who wants to play jb songs, I'd put in him detention for a year.

  • My favorite Final Fantasy game by far.

    *prepares for backlash*

  • really we should just let the square enix guys serve as guide for actual architects

  • this song was so peaceful.. 8 was a great game.. the love story pissed people off and the draw system too.. i thought it added a little challenge.. .. for a while. then you got powerful enough it didnt matter.. but still.. the story was awesome and fighting some summons to get them was fun also.. still dont see why people hate SO much on 8... i loved it..still have my copy to this day..

  • Oh, what I would give to attend Balamb Garden... haa... It's perfect! Interesting classes, field combat missions, Playin' triple triad with your buddies... and the badass uniforms too!

  • Brb playing cards with that stupid girl group to take all their rares.

  • sigh... anyone else miss old school games?

  • @KoreyKu

indeed....... listening to this and FFVII songs make me think back to when I was 10 years old, buying FFVII and never be able to stop playing because it was so good.... the game, story, music, they where so good back then, now its all about the graphics....... and make games shorter....

  • reminds me of my old home how life was so much beter and most importently it reminds me of school and my wonderfuly friends

  • you know cause i really like the music, game asset and environment in balamb. i can stay and spend a lot of time in balamb even though i knew where i had to go for the next mission. i just love this place, this school should be exist

  • When i said "I would like to do things my own way, but i can't do this alone.", i meant that i will have to accept ideas from others, and put that School above my own self.

I also wonder what you all think if the first Balamb Garden was built in Brazil?

Not that there will not be it in other countries, but in USA and Europe, it's quite common this "kind" of school (boarding schools and academies, respectively), so the society there can wait a little more for the influence of Garden.

  • I still remember when I borrowed this game from a girl I knew... 4 disks... One of the best games I've ever played... Was so sad when I had to return it... Then I found it on PSN and played through it again... just never gets old =)

  • yeah...sounds refreshing :) its makes my problems wash away ^_^

if I went to school..I consider it as balamb gaarden ^^ and looking up the sky's so blue and the feel the winds refreshin ^_^

  • This is the song I hear when I go to class everyday :D

  • Ahhh so much memories

  • I remember my sister was allways pissed with this music... she also hated FF9 main theme... But these are the best songs I've ever heard in my entire life... Thanx for posting ;-)

  • i love this music ...fack

  • I so loved to go back to the garden in FF8 just to listen to this song ^^

  • Final Fantasy VIII, what a great game. Not my favorite FF, but probably my favorite soundtrack.

  • Even if I play this game like four times the music still takes me away~

  • @Riokogen ikr i would leave this game playing in the background all day long. good times.

  • i wish this music played when i walked to class, then maybe i'd actually want to go

  • Comment removed

  • I had this song played over the intercom during lunch at my school it was amazing

  • Wish there really was a school like Balamb Garden. I would be so content, especially with this song playing in the school the whole time! Why can't schools have their own great music to play in the school while walking around?

  • One of my favorites, I tried to learn how to play this on the keyboard.... maybe I should start practicing that again >.>

  • if they made a school like this i would sign my ass up IM-ME-DI-ATE-LY!

  • @iamchris4lifefan11 tha makes 2 of us

  • I would like this music to be played at my university

  • Awesome song !!!

  • Check out my video when you get the chance,

  • Balamb Garden is the only school i don't want to explode by intelligent missiles...

  • Wouldn't it be nice if they can play this music in detention?

  • Let's build Balamb Garden?

Of course it will not have certain elements from the game, but it will not be a normal school either.

What you FF8 fans think? I mean, i feel the world needs a place like this, i'm speaking seriously here.

I really want to build it, and believe many others do too (we are fated children maybe ;D?).

What do you suggest for a real building of Balamb Garden?

  • @APerfectSystem Ok, get the monsters, I'll make the flying school of teens mercenaries.

  • @APerfectSystem hell I still have this as my dream house:D. I totaly love the place

  • @APerfectSystem I suggest you grow up and quit playing vidya

  • @APerfectSystem I suggest you grow up and quit playing vidya

  • @MetaLeir93 It's not a question of maturity. The game just gave me inspiration to build a school with a new approach to teaching.

  • @APerfectSystem Then let's see you get the money and paperwork to do that with the help of real "serious mature" persons

    Just saying

  • @MetaLeir93 It's not about building a place from some game, nor building a place at all.

    It's deeper than that.

It's about building the future. For better. Real "serious mature" persons want that, and will help me, as that is not only my dream, but probably is also yours and of many other people.

  • @APerfectSystem Then why were you so focused on building this place, the Balamb Garden?

That made me misunderstand it, anyway, let's pack our hates and phobias and get this First International Garden working already irl. Can't wait for it.

  • @MetaLeir93

    I'll explain.

There is a main purpose, and this purpose will only be reached through the existence of the right environment. This environment is Balamb Garden (or whatever name you call it).

There, the right environment can be produced and developed, so, the school is necessary to reach the purpose, not the purpose itself.

About an International Garden, I believe the best is to create one Garden per country, all ruled by an international organization, called Garden Group, maybe.

  • @APerfectSystem I know a VGM band that has the exact same idea too! xD

Anyway, yeah, that would be nice.... seriously I'd send my children there.

  • @emillioe do you know the name of that band?

  • @APerfectSystem

Yea, it's a new band they just started like a couple of months back but the leader has always been babbling about the school, they're called "Obverse Overture"

You should be able to find them on facebook, sadly the music seems to be taken off for now though, there used to be a shitload of those, but I think they got signed =/

You should drop in to say hi anyways ;)

  • @APerfectSystem the problem with real life is that theres no background music :/

  • @guitarmanbadass yea. i wish i could hear this in the background everytime i go to school that way i can feel like im in balamb garden. oh well. at least i have this song in my ipod.

  • @APerfectSystem it has to be able to move around the world thats for sure.

  • @APerfectSystem That would be the Best College ever!!!!

  • @APerfectSystem if this would be a real project i'm in *-*

I would love to help build this~

  • @APerfectSystem i wish i had the money i would do it

  • @APerfectSystem yea if every i was super rich i would recreate all my favorite video game landscapes and stuff.

  • @APerfectSystem ivote for u...but da money?

  • @APerfectSystem bitch !

  • @APerfectSystem

    Let's do this!

But I want the Battle-Zone in it! With big dinosaurs and Fungurus thingis :D and a Tombery as my private butler :D

and the garden should fly, so we could land in the ocean near a tiny villiage and scare the shit out of 'em :D

  • @Chaosman12 fuck you cock!

  • @APerfectSystem I've always said this to my family and they agree with me :) Balamb Garden would be the best school in the world ;) I wouldnt mind going back to school if BG was around lol

  • @Riokolove I fear that we like it just because we know how boring and impertinent the educational system is.

Maybe the kids that will study only in Balamb Garden can think it is the boring and impertinent educational system.

Kids must like to be in their school. It's their second home! That's why we need to focuse in creating this place primarily with a better environment for developing kid's vocation.

This educational standard is the key to ensure a better future, a perfect system.

  • @APerfectSystem you like boobs?

  • @coincui

    Yes, i do. And you?

  • @APerfectSystem you like blowjob?

  • @coincui

I like to give and receive any form of pleasure, when there's consent between the two parts. Actually, that's the reason we all are here.

  • @APerfectSystem A prime example of the population putting their very being into creating something of beauty and perfection. I've loved the idea of the futuristic Balamb Garden school coming into existence and should the people work together to form this artwork then I too will join them, you have my full support!

  • @theocan I hope we're all talking about a new educational system, not just about a futuristic design.

Even if we're talking about a new educational system, we may be having different ideas about it.

So, before we go looking for the NORGs of the real world, we must first decide things like in which country the first school will be built, how do we will teach the children, if we will depend on donations or not, among other things.

I would like to do things my own way, but i can't do this alone.

  • @APerfectSystem if there was a Balamb Garden,

    I'd totally enroll

  • @APerfectSystem IMO, that would be awesome in Vancouver, BC or Singapore. :D

  • @APerfectSystem umm something exactly like it? you can make your dreams come true on minecraft.

  • @APerfectSystem

we gotta build something right? i mean the ancients built pyramids and huge monolithic apparatus; its time to construct balamb garden!

  • @TangerineGroovin well..technically we build skyscrapers 3 times the size of the pyrimids. im not dissagreeing we need to build balamb but bad example ^_^;

  • @APerfectSystem this is the best idea ever..as long as this music is always and forever playing

  • @TripLxChaos

What if the students choose the music that will play?

I personally vote for Canon in D Major, by Pachelbel, it is wonderful (but not playing forever, of course!).

  • @APerfectSystem Yes for sure, If I ever win the lottery im building a place like Balamb garden!!

  • @Dragonitlas

None of us need to win the lottery. Sponsorship is the way to go. If this dream will depend on donations or lottery (or both), it can take a long time to be created (or maybe not even built at all).

Also, donations are a risky variable to base the school. I believe a private boarding school is a very secure system for it (like our good and greedy NORG did in the game), in a country with the least possible economic problems.

  • @APerfectSystem You know what? I see myself becoming rich within the next 5 years or so. I'll fund a big part of it when that happens ;)

  • @APerfectSystem That would be so awesome. We DO have to change something though, there is no way i am going to stand in that huge line for hotdogs.

  • Its so serene.. FF8 was, and still is, a great game :)

  • this sounds looks great!

  • altho i giggle everytime im here hehehehe *sniff* i wish i had a time mashiiiine

  • Why does listening to the classic make me want to cry?

  • @animenagai make u wana cry why dont u do it im doing it rite nao

  • AHH WHERE CAN I GET THIS AS A RINGTONE!!! It would be my ringtone for life! <3

  • @TacoSupremeBeing i have it. :)

  • You know this song used to put me at peace when i was young. I used to search for something that made feel at home an somewhere I belonged; but this song was all i had. It was like I didn't belong anywhere, but the place that was inside this song.

  • master norg disliked this video ten times

  • good memories :)

  • @GuitarMarc89 you like FF8 ???

  • @coincui

    You didn't?

  • i think i heard 1:17 part in FFVII....

  • Dude.... this brings back a lot of memories. Of course i sucked at rpgs at the time and i didnt know how to save :D so i would just kinda hit new game and i would listen to this song over and over and over again. so this song kinda runs through my mind on every first day of school i have.

  • @crazypikachulol that happened to me with the green hill song at Sonic.

  • Shit! This brings back childhood memories. Early in the morning I used to hasten up myself eating my breakfast, then I take my cup of coffee at my playroom, then I sit on that wooden chair and start playing this freaking game...

  • I wish I could get my school to float after attempting to save it from a deadly missile strike.

  • Played this 10 yrs ago. I like this music best in FF game.

  • I remember this school had long ass hallways lol

  • @jwild611 ... but don't you wish you could have picked Quistis over Rinoa? I think this was the best game ever created but that was its only one flaw.

  • What a fucking awesome game that was.

  • this reminds me of me at 11 years old playing FFVIII... with no responsibilities but a whole real world to explore and imagine!

  • my heart is swelling at the sound of this wonderous music!!!! I wish my life had this music playing in it whenever I go to classes!!! FFVIII truely was a masterpiece!

Too bad the newer games dont give that sort of feeling anymore :(

  • @Shoinie haha yea i remeber when i first played this game i had it as a greatest hits cause it was kinda old i was like 12 and rember when the characters were older than me now im older than the characters i thought that was kinda funny man it was been awhile also checkout shadow hearts covenant and legend of dragoon

  • @matrixlone hey yeah me too!! I played it when I was like 13, when the game had been out for years, but I still loved it!

  • FF 7 (VII) and FF8 (VIII) are Best PSX (1) and also Best Console and my Favourite Games....Also best Music to Chill...

  • Squall should have had the choice to pick between Rinoa and Quistis... because to this day I am still in love with Quistis. STILL... this is my all-time fav game.

  • final fantasy 7 - 9 are the best!!

  • Love 7-9 Final Fantasy soundtracks <3. This is one of my favorite songs, it's soooo relaxing and brings back good memories....I used to play this with my childhood friends so much!!!! ;)

  • This song reminds me of 7th summer vacation. I spend the whole summer trying to beat this game. There was a window near my TV, and I remember listening to the birds outside as I played. Then, my dad's (ex-) girlfriend's son stole my memory card. I was so close to beating the game and losing all the save data depressed me so badly I haven't played the game since.

  • Matron: did you boys stay good? you havent fought right?

    Young Squall: (. . .) :'(

    Young Seifer: Nope... XD

Matron: ohh what happened Squall, why do you have a bruise on your arm there?

  • i have finished thed game 1000 times

  • this music means so much to so many, im not alone =]

  • FF8 has the best music of all the series

  • I wish tonight I had a dream n wake up at Balamb Garden as Squall, I miss the day when walking around balamb garden with a very good music accompany me along n playing cards with peoples there, meeting Zell, Rinoa, Irvine, etc Fighting hidden bosses, searching GF. Arghhhh fuck, writing this makes me wanna play it once more!!!

  • This takes me back 12 years.

  • @Ramagamma Well I feel old.

  • i wish they remade this game or made it into a movie like how they did with advent children! FUCK CLOUD... SQUALL FTW!!

  • ITS NOT A SCHOOL, ITS A MERCENARY CAMP!!

  • FF8 was the first RPG I ever played. This game and song brings me back to my childhood when everything coming out was new and refreshing. I miss not having to care about life's struggles and playing FF8 for hours on end, getting new cards for the card game, or leveling up my characters and progressing in the story. RIP to real RPG's.

  • The perfect school ever =]

  • the game may have it's flaws... but the music was not among them.

  • VGM? lololo

  • @juanjm12 Video Game Music.
