One game I've never seen was Liverpool's 3-0 win vs City on26-2-1972.It was the beginning of Liverpool's great 2nd revival under Shanks-although Derby pipped through at the death. Anyone seen it?
A match I'd love to see the highlights of, if possible (probably not) : Manchester City 1 Nottingham Forest 0. Can't remember the year but I think it was in the very early 80s. Forest were managed by Brian Clough at the time, City by Malcolm Allison. All I can remember is that Deyna (1st minute of the 2nd half ? Radio 2 missed it) got the winner and City had a very young team. It was the live commentary match on Radio 2 and at the end there was the longest standing ovation I've ever heard.
@zarakhast That Forest game was on 13/10/79. Unfortunately it was during the ITV strike and it wasn't on Match of the Day either. However the BBC evening news did show two minutes of action including the goal. Sadly I don't have it.
As I recall, this was just before the beginning of a long decline 4 City. I think they finished 4th that season. Liverpool defeats 4 many years were pretty much collectors items. It was a different game in a different world. Watching Channon's 'Pete Townshend' swinging arm celebration, it strikes me as being pretty dangerous. If I'd been one of his teammates, I don't think I'd have wanted to get too close! Funny, but we always hate other teams when they're successful. I don't mind Liverpool now!
It's strange to see a Liverpool team with Ian Callaghan and Alan Hansen playing together. Even stranger to think that over a year later that they would sack Tony Book and then split up a team that seemed to have so much promise about them.
Terrible finishing by Dalglish, terrible positioning by the Liverpool goalkeeper for City's second, terrible Liverpool defending for all 3 of City's goals. Just plain terrible.
Dalgleish missing chances, Supersub on from the start, the bell ringing, socks round ankles, Channon's celebration, a real roar from the crowd, jumpers for goalposts isn't it, you know? Great nostalgia post!
Wow, really impressed by the quality of this game. Obviously Liverpool were European champions so that shouldn't come as a surprise, but they're moving the ball around better than the current squad do!
wow Brian Kidd was class

Why are City wearing blue shorts at home?

@Beliasarius They wore blue shorts for a few years in the late 70s and early 80s. I don't like the the look much.

@TheDosshouse That one was played on an FA Cup weekend so the TV companies were showing Cup games instead.

@mcfcvideos Thanks-yes, I remember Everton were at Goodison the same day in FA cup. Wouldn't be arranged like that nowadays.
