O'Neil did calculations in the 60's the economics showing in favour of orbital manufacture rather than boost from ground. Has that changed since the 60's? Also the estimates that I've seen only make the price per kWh delivered for a boost from ground work if you use rotating momentum exchange tether lifting where big rotating tethers pickup suborbital payloads and boost them to orbital. As they 're driven electrically against the earth's magnetic field there's no reaction mass to lift

I remember back in the mid-70s this was going to be the ultimate future in solar power. The money and politics weren't there; solar energy was used as a 'negative' by conservative politics. I hope these billionaires who made fortunes in technology will get on board with this... because we aren't going to have another,'before this decades out' speech from an American president. The best use of Maser transmission I can imagine, unless the 'orbital tower' thing can be done by 2025?
