  • I did 53'2 in high school. I wasn't even considered for the states. They were throwing over 60. 35 years later winning throws in NY are less then 55. WTF

  • @kragseven not many people seem to want to throw anymore or like my high school i graduated from, Battle Ground High School near Vancouver, WA, the incoming kids just dont want to compete. my freshman year there were about at least 100 total athletes on our team. last year (senior year) there were less than 80. there were about 8 to 10 total throwers. Skyview High School in Salmon Creek has at least 20 throwers and they're all relatively big kids whereas BG's kids aren't that big. All kids want

  • @kragseven these days is to party and screw around. And some of the people who come out are forced to come out and compete because either their parents tell them to or a coach for another sport tells them to. Even my little brother didn't want to try cuz he's a lazy ass. i got him to try the discus a couple days ago and his first ten minutes he's throwing the 2k discus over 40 feet and throwing the 1k over 70 with literally no technique. hes got the build for disc and with some training, he'll

  • @kragseven be awesome

  • @kragseven Hey I won indoors with 62'4. It was funny cause I'm a 5'10 glider. Second place was 54.

  • @kragseven Hey I won indoors with 62'4. It was funny cause I'm a 5'10 glider. Second place was 54. NYS

  • Yeah I threw a 38 footer as a sophomore..... Just kidding I can't brag hahah my school sucks. I did through 38 feet but the kid ahead of me throughs 50 feet sooo.... yeah fuck me right lol?

  • Damn, when i was in high school anyone over 47' was beast and a 50-53' throw would win state.... that is Illinois though, now im coaching and i have a freshman learning the rotational, he's popped off a couple of 40' throws already, im pretty impressed by that.

  • its weird seeing hoffa out of the back on his left he has adapted to doing like a hammer turn out of the back it through me off seeing him on his toes

  • Hoffa actually does look like he is hammer turning. i think he does it to get a low and aggressive charge out of the back

  • yea, im about to become a sophomore, my best was like 35 feet this year and im in southern jersey. Although that was from the stand, When i do the glide i lose like 5 feet because im not doing it right, and my spin is horrible. This was also my first year, for my region i did pretty good i guess as a first time freshman ^.^

  • Well yeah Vena is a monster but 61ft is a very solid throw. So when you say only 61ft remember only 20 guys were over 60ft this year

  • Also Corey Abernathey, who will be a senior next looks very promising, i throw with him all the time and even though he only went high 50s in comp this year i have personally seem him throw over 64 many times. Also, mcsaucy, we have some very good young discus throwers coming up

  • @mcsaucy99 And how far do you throw mcsaucy? 61 is still a dang good throw.

  • @mcsaucy99

I love it when people talk shit on Youtube. 61' amazing and is going to get you somewhere.

  • I was just at Jesse Owens in Ohio for the State meet.

in All Divisions there were 5 to 6 60ft throwers.

The top throw was in D3!! 68ft

Dj Duke. Ohio has the best throwers.

    Period.

  • Ohio has the best throwers. . . except you forget about Nick Vena from New Jersy, a Sop who has gone 72'8, or Bailio and Saenz from Texas, both of whom have goen over 72. What about Mason Finley from Colorado? 71 in shot put and 236 in discus? Or the the Oregonians with their 67 / 202 Ryan Crouser and 238 Jav Sam Crouser. Ohio has the best throwers, right.

Also California had 8, maybe 9 60 footers this year, though no Dj Duke.

  • If your talking about top end, then no, Ohio was not the best last year. But if your talking about most top end depth, then Ohio has just about everyone else beat. Next year it will be really competitive because 4 of the top 5 returning shot putters in the nation are from northern ohio

  • @foulfoul50 take nj's top three shot putters as a relay team and it smokes any other state. therefore. youre an idiot.

  • @tonzy74 Actually if you look at the top 3 from NJ and top 3 from Ohio and add up their distances. Ohio has a total of 196'5 for their top 3 from last year while NJ is 193'7 and Ohio had no throwers over 70' last year. If I was to add up top 3 this year Ohio would be over 200 while NJ would be near 180 at best. As of May 4th 2010.

  • @tonzy74 Dustin Brode threw 71' this year.... that's pretty damn close to Vena.

  • i only throw 42' with shotput and im 14 yrs old and a freshman. :( Do i suck bad or am i good? i throw father then everyone in my school and 5th in my division

  • liar omg kid stop trying to be cool and stfu

you just wish you could throw that far

  • u cant throw forty two with a 10k shot..

  • its a 5.45k... i wish i could throw 40 with a 10k shot id be beast...

  • In florida 45 is like wtf man.

    -_- Sad

  • you all suck i threw 53'9 my sophmore year in high school.... and i am not even that good... and its reese hoffa whoever trickour is, is a complete tool... and its a 8lb for middle 12 for hs and 16 lb's above that level

  • OOOO Good for you! My bro throws shot in high school and 40-50's are state quals. Alot of them are going to big 10 and pac 10 colleges throwing 50's. So good for you man!! But go fuck yourslef, my money is on the other kids that you reffer to as "sucky." I bet 2 years from now there going to out throw you with there heart and your ego...

  • Usaully above 57 feet are going to the big 10 and pac 10 colleges lol. Not anything below 51'9.

  • you are such an idiot... everything you said is completely wrong, or makes no sense. I go to a division 1 college and am a freshman. I throw 58.60 meters in that hammer because that is my event, even though i still place in shot put with 14.2 meter throws. I am stating facts, and you just do not know what you are talking about.

  • Sorry, I throw for a Big 10 school and I had to walk on with a 61'9'' throw. Nobody recruits 50 foot throws for the Big 10

  • ohio state does. matt dechant threw in the upper 50s at avon lake. now he has the school freshman record

  • I said 50 foot throws, not 57-59 feet like Dechant threw. And Dechant is a freak as of now. Not sure why he didn't compete outdoor (possible injury like me?) but he's an absolute monster.

  • ooo you threw 53 feet...but you cant insult somone for throwing further than you ever will sooo.....

  • you are a complete dumbass... i was never insulting reese hoffa at all... people are just soo stupid sometimes

  • damn, even though it is a fowl, throwing 70 ft in high school is pretty damn impressive, my furthest throw when i was a sophomore was 41 ft with a 12 lb shot, apparently apparently thats not as good as i though it was

  • When I was in high school 41ft was like... HOLY CRAP THAT KIDS STRONG. I remember seeing my first 50ft with the 12lbs and being like.. NO FUCKING WAY MAN!

  • in NYC it's still like that. 40 is like OMG

  • in washington 40 is like wtf that kid takes steroids

  • in utah 50 and up is considered pretty good. 40 and up for a soph is very promising.

  • haha in Los angeles its like that, cuz its rarle seen over 45 i guess

  • in ohio 40ft is like weakling, ive thrown 56ft before.

  • nice.

  • i have been at a meet where 4 people have been over 56 feet one was my teammate... in ohio

  • same here... but i'm hoping to get 50 this year

  • dont misinterpret 42ish and over is avereage.

  • he fouled i don't care how far it was.

  • I saw a guy throw 43 feet and somethin inches.... hes in middle school. i was throwing against him...

  • he fouled so this is completely useless

  • this isn't legit, fouling out the front gives you at least another foot or two on your throw, why'd they mark a warmup anyways?

  • thats not always true about fouling out the front, i actually throw 2-3 feet less when i go out the front. if you try and stay in and bring your right hip all the way around, you get a farther throw and it makes it easier to stay in

  • i see where you're coming from. it was a generalization though. think about it if you go over the toeboard you're throwing from further in the second usually

  • he was doing so awesome, then fault, damn

  • Good starting technique.......FOUL!

  • FOULLLL

  • Did you even read the description, this is a warm-up?

  • that wasn't even measured, and it was a foul

  • That was the title of the video when I found it so I put it up they way I found it.

  • oh ok i get it

  • @drewdog90 oh really? A foul? No one could fucking tell

  • Reese Hoffa never - ever threw 70 feet in high school.

  • agree he said he did reach 60 until he was a senior and i dought he increased over 10 feet

  • that was a warm up throw, i met him and he says his official best for highschool was 67feet 9inches

  • no sry it was 64ft and 9inches

  • ...? Explain yourself. High school shots are only 12 pounds and he throws a 16 pounder 70+ feet now. Look how large he is.

  • oh, mines high school

  • :( i wish i could be like him....i only throw 34 feet, right now when i go back to school im going to be a junior, i promise myself though before i graduat in 2009 im going to throw 55 ft or more so maybe i can sumday go to the olympics

  • haha 34 ft thats horrible.... im 130 in 8th grade and i can clear 40ft

  • grade school shots are 8 pounds... if a person in 8th grade couldnt clear 40 feet with an 8 pound shot then they should kill themselves.

  • well thats funny because we just had an innvetatinal with 19 teams and the farthest throw besides mine was 37 8

  • lawl, most of my friends threw at least 40 in 8th grade

  • ok well in my area we have weight classes and im in the lighter weight class ... your friends are probably humungous.

  • yea, you are a lot lighter than most of my friends, but only by like 20 pounds

  • maybe your region just sucks then....cuz at a 4 team meet last year, all top 3 throws were over 41 feet, with the winner throwing 54 feet

  • do u live in florida? cause thats how my regionals was

  • nah, Im in Orange County, CA

  • oh, cause my regionals was the winner at 54 and every1 else around 41-49

  • how many schools competed?

  • umm wow about....38

  • well California middle school track is a complete joke, There arent really organized sports run by the schools at all. There was only one track meet, which comprised of the 4 schools in the district. hte winning throw was 54, 2nd was like 45 and 3rd somewhere around 42

  • i live in florida, and the furthest throw was around 56. this is middle school right? the funniest thing was it was a seventh grader!!! he is some kind of new breed of beast.

  • i was taking about high school

  • okay high school. but i mean we still throw 12 pound. so i figure if you throw the same weight you are the same recognized level of athlete.

  • if it was middle school i dont think you would throw the 12. the official weight for kids under 15(almost every middle schooler) is 4k... im not saying he didnt throw 56 but i dont think it was a 12.

  • I know.

  • wowo super throw back
