Oakleys are perfect for uspsa, idpa and other shooting competitions. Especially when you're shooting at steel. There's always a chance that bullet fragments could hit you and you don't want to risk not having your eyes protected.
It's about EYE protection, not a BODY ARMOUR ! :) Some says "what if i hurt any other part of my body...?Well, I don't know dude, Oakley is the best on EYE PROTECTION, I suppose Oakley Inc. can tell something for those who break their arm while wearing Oakley sunglasses... ;))
Lol, at first I didn't realize the 2nd test wasn't Oakley and I was like D:
Oakleys are perfect for Baseball and Airsoft. Low profile eye protection for airsoft and polarized glasses that don't fall off your face for baseball. Oakleys are definately the way to go.
@FKRairsoft Looking for information about Wiley X, I've read a lot of people enjoying in airsoft the Wiley X due to their cavity seal. So the BBs cannot get in.
Anyone can test to a standard such as ANSI provides as long as you follow the test specification accurately. You can claim a product is tested and passed if you are a certified test centre but the government themselves don't need to do the test.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This test is bullshit you don't even tell us what you're firing, how fast it's going, the weight of the object or how far away it's being fired from or dropped from.
The video's fine. Very well produced but possibly not a fair comparison.. some of the fails look like glass lenses perhaps.
You are bullshit. You are bullshit because you are either too stupid or too lazy to notice that each test is preceded by the benchmark being certified against.
But then an idiot such as yourself who knows nothing, wouldn't know what ANSI is.. Also wouldn't even think to look it up!
@nuclearthreat545 ur an idiot nuclearthreat its tested like that by oakleys and if that was fake that would be false advertisement and thats against the law and oakleys would be stupid because they would get sued and they are a big company they make all the eyewear for the military and there are soldiers that have had shrapnel from an ied hit them and it not break the glasses. so you might not wanna talk shit unless you have facts
Oakley safety glasses saved my eyes, no joke, I'm a carpenter and accidently ran a circular saw over a peice of nail stuck into wood, and it shot a nail shard at my eyes. Didn't even scratch the lense and it was going fast.
On top of that, I wonder how much they changed the velocity of the BB and the inertia of that pole for the crappy pair of sunglasses. Once again, biased testing.
@Brandonduboff You do know that before they show the test, they show the brand of sunglasses on top of "HIGH VELOCITY IMPACT"? They say:
Maui Jim-Tortoise
Ray Ban-Predator
Revo (?)
These are sunglasses that well reach the $200 mark, polarized or not.
There are more test of other people who do unbiased testing and actually show comparisons to the same glasses from Oakley and it's competition. Please do some research before mocking a brand, not your own opinion...
@Brandonduboff Actually these are ANSI impact tests, the gold standard for measuring safety.
ANSI Z87.1 establishes performance criteria and testing requirements for devices used to protect the eyes and face from injuries from impact, non-ionizing radiation and chemical exposure in workplaces and schools.
@Brandonduboff if it is, and this is a government video; I have no idea how you could have gotten the rights to such video. take care, and thanks for response
Cool... Glad I have my Oakley Radar.. The lenses will still no doubt have some sort of a scratch or a mark after impact as the lenses are not fully scratch resistant, but at least they won't shatter all over your eyes on impact.... This is pretty much a fact when it comes to Oakley lenses..
god i hate it when people randomly shoot me in the face with high velocity bbs and stab me in the eyes with giant metal spikes. thank god for oakleys! lol
olhem no site da oakley a lente é igual 1 arco e flexa quando atirado e quando é olhado em camera lenta ele se contorce todo... msm coisa da lente em camera rapido vc nen nota o impacto... se liguem pretos!!
That is pretty cool that oakly reflects them but seriously, If i saw something flying at my head i wont be thinking "Its ok my sunglasses will save me" Im pretty sure ill be trying to find a way to avoid it.
yeah but in the case of the bb, you wouldnt see it coming, and you would be blind if you got hit in the eye with it, so the glasses would have saved you.
Why the thumbs down, they are indeed owned by rayban now!!!!! I bought a spare last year (you can still buy them). I doesn't say made in whatever. I think they are made in China! BTW: I bought them from the Oakley store in the mall!
That's because all the ones that break are of other brands, and Oakley is showing us how their superior lens strength compares to other brand's lenses.
And I don't know why so many people are thumbing your comment down! Weird, eh?
i thought that was a real person at first... i was like who the fuck would volunteer to do this??

High Mass Impact Test Comparison
Metal spike (more than a pound of weight) dropped from over four feet
Real world scenario: Getting hit by the tip of a ski, baseball or other large projectiles.
High Velocity Impact Test Comparison
Quarter-inch steel shot traveling at 102 mph
Real world scenario: Hazardous sports and occupations that expose you to flying rocks and debris.

all they show is the glasses not braking...if you really think about it the oakley lens push into your eye...lol
smartpunk15 2 years ago
They aren't "braking" huh? I think they better "brake" before they run into the brick wall and BREAK their bones.
Break, not brake.
Break = shatter
Brake = slow down
Having your sunglasses "push" into your eye is better than having a projectile and thousands of shards of plastic fly into your eyeballs.
