  • This is the reason why I never play Lawful Good. Neutral/Chaotic for life!

  • Short, but good all around. Great job!

  • damn..he missed out on some exp

  • Good thing Uni wasn't in this scene.

  • The special FX were cool, considering this is a fan-made film. However, where is the humming sound when Hank uses his bow and arrow? :-)

  • No! No! No! Kill them and take their stuff! Everything but you are tastey morsels of exp. that are meant to be killed, swindled, or placated long enough for you to become powerful enoough to kill and or swindle them. The only people/creatures you care about are the ones that are supposedly on your team, even then be wary.

  • @Squid1986 hmmmm sounds like your my kind of gamer... I'll be keeping an eye on you just in case lol

  • That fatguy looks like samwise...

  • REALLY THE CARTOON

  • This series *so* should have been the basis for the (awful) D&D movie...

  • Damn am a chaotic good i would have murdered his ass. he must have been lawful neutral because he felt "bad" if he would have killed the orc.

  • That was cool. Well cast, decently acted, surprisingly good special effects, and the irony gave it the final boost to be actually cool.

Although I have to agree with Lionel21000: more leg from Sheila would have been nice. It's D&D, a world where all women must flaunt their hotness, by Venger's decree.

  • Great job very well done! The only thing I didn't like was Shelia isn't showing enough leg. Otherwise pretty darn good.

  • Wasn't Sheila supposed to be 13 in the show? She looks closer to 30 here...

  • @SuperGoliath89 I think the implication is that the D&D 'kids' have spent over ten years in the Realm doing the bidding of the mysterious Dungeon Master - who seems able to send the kids home whenever he wants, but chooses not to. This has obviously worn Hank down, and who can blame him?

Hopefully everyone also realizes that the innocence of the D&D kids is an intentional contrast to the usual hack & slash, loot & pillage adventurer types.

  • @HyperboreanNabob yeah, you mean they are loser's... except Bobby he understands a good smashing

  • I really liked it. alias has something to take out the shaky cam. But I love the story

  • This is amazing!

  • Must have a pretty bad listen modifier to not hear and orc coming

  • always thought it would be cool if someone would do as live action version-thought it would have been smooth if the Xena or Hercules series would have set something up

  • It was an amazing video! But letting an orc alive? It's not the right thing to do. I completely agree with Yoshima69's words.

  • This is what the dungeons and dragons movie should have been. Not that other bloated abomination. Liked it. Nice dilemma about shooting an unarmed man. Shows that they were fed up and at breaking point. Well done.

  • Very well made and deserving of even more views. I hope you make more similar videos.

  • The girl coulda been a little more animated, otherwise, good stuff. A little naive of both of them to kill a creature that's devoted to killing and destruction, though. I don't understand that part of the script - but hey, I'm just the viewer =P

  • I get it. He Killed a man! Yes... That would give you pause, even for an orc.

  • Kill the Orc!! you'll gain a level.....lol

  • Wow. I never thought you could convey that kind of emotion from D&D cartoon characters. That show was awful, but this is great.

  • I can't seem to find the other videos...

  • great job.. one change I would make.. a better sound effect for Hank's bow.. needs to be louder and sound more like the cartoon effect.. ..just being picky.. loved the casting and visual effects! female actress needed to attempt to be more convincing but.. I realize these aren't PROS..

  • Loved it! 5 star!

  • Very impressive. Acting wasn't bad and the effects were spot on. Good Job!

  • wow, in such a short video you created mood and atmoshphere and a story, awersome job.

  • heh cool! Better graphics than the D&D movie! lol jk

  • The kids from the cartoon all grown up and still stuck, lol. Overall this is a pretty good quality production, great work.

  • Love the video but I gotta say this: "No Hank, please, dont." I'm acting.

  • Arcane Archer For the Win

  • Ha, "Doesn't make him any less dead."

  • This never gets old. I was a huge fan of the original series. It's just as fun and entertaining as the first time. I've always wanted this to be longer, so it answers some of the questions it leaves us with. Who, exactly is "She"? Tiamat?

  • Very clever thoughtful work

  • This comment comes from a fellow 1980s kid: I feel this is great. Their acting's convinced me...Their outcome in the Realm has jaded the pupils, resigning Hank to possible existence here forever. I like the special f/x.... The music's chilling elements add a nice touch, too...it's suggesting peril lies thinly veiled and deadly close. Sheila's really honed her abilities over their 3 years in the Realm. My thanks to the writers, actors, conductor, concertists, foley, grips, and effects artists.

  • Really good job!

  • Always loved Dungeeons and Dragons. We make D&D live action movies now and use actress to keep the movies interesting. I totally understand the plus hits here..

The movies we make are on You Tube done by Shadowyn films.

    movie titles:

    Soul Searching

    Wintertide a christmas movie

  • Very interesting work. Its great to watch movies like this. Come see my Fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons like movie by Shadowyn films.

    soul searching

  • I think your effort has potential. (Yes, the acting was a little wooden. But I understand this to be a "rough draft" more than a finished product. The costumes and effects were pretty good, though.)

Do you have any more clips? I would especially like to see your take on Venger.

    Favorited.

  • sadly he decided to drop this project, it had some promise though, for sure...

  • Great Orc!!!!

  • this was awesome! I really loved that show when I was younger!

  • Good work. Acting, camera work, background music and sounds. I would enjoy a feature length film by this crew more than the original D&D movie.

Only, I really despise the source material, that 80's cartoon was way too childish to be based on a game for teens and collegians.

  • pretty cool! the bow look really neat...just one thing though...i need to see Deckeon!! lol

  • Gunganfan - I suppose they are refering to Tiamat...

  • Is that really supposed to be Hank? He looks more like a really tall Samwise Gamgee.

  • GREAT

  • "She"? Who's "She"? What made that creepy sound?

  • I assume that would be tiamat, but why the orc would know her cry, would be beyond me...

  • Isn't Hank based on that D&D cartoon? As far as I remember they never killed anything in the series. I suppose it's because it was a kids show. Then again, there were other out there where the heroes did kill the bad guys.

What it comes down to: I agree. The notion that good guys never kill is retarded.

  • To fat to be a Hero.

  • Fan-tastic.

  • Hank got fat

  • KingObould said: "Hank got fat ". @KingObould : Agreed. So how did he beef up? We all know the kids rarely find anything good to eat.

  • In that kind of environment he had every reason to kill the Orc. Where did this ridiculous notion in modern media come from, that to be a good guy you can't kill no matter what? Were we supposed to put all the Nazi troops on the battlefield in handcuffs in WW2? If they're going to be complete pacifists that would be respectable, but why even carry weapons? Why have them 'pretend' to fight, only to let evil monsters loose on whatever innocents pass by later. Those two are villain accomplices.

  • Batman, spiderman, superman...They don't kill while their enemies continue on & the media tries to popularize them...I've questioned the murderless hero too many times. It's blatantly retarded, but it's what's outhere.

  • How could true pacifists be "respectable" heroes to begin with? Something like Ghandi? Offering themselves up to be slaughtered until the minions of evil get enough bad press from foreign journalists (or minstrels in this case) so they stop due to international pressure? They'd more likely stop when they die from exhaustion from slaughtering the innocent :)

  • @dtstrain The notion comes from BATMAN. Seriously, what kind of self respecting nerd are you?!

  • @dtstrain

He has a bow that can tie someone up. In war you kill the enemy because it's the surest way to stop them. If you can break their ability to fight without killing, you do that too.

And in WW2 shooting a German in the face after tying him up would have been considered a war crime, just like it would be today.

  • @dtstrain That's how they are. "Protectors of good" and "Paladins of light" and all that crap. I honestly prefer to go a bit darker in D&D, just devour their souls. :)

  • He'll never go up it level if he keeps holding back like that. Now the orc will just have another chance at them; I hope he feels good about his "chioce" when he wakes up to find his companion's throats slit.

  • Not bad and the orc was pretty cool, Job will done, Maybe make more short clips like this and try using the other characters from the cartoon.

  • whats thet black guy

  • Where's Presto? He's my favorite.

  • reminded me of the old D&D cartoon series from the 1980s...

  • Interesting video actually...Unfortunately the female in the video acted so horribly she almost ruined it. If you had replaced her with someone that has 2 ounces of ability to speak, it would have elevated this vid into something really special.

  • I could'nt have said it better myself.

  • hehhe

    nice

  • very good short

  • This is very cool, I like the drama at the beginning, you have very good actors! The special effect were only a plus for this! I would of loved it in anyway shape of form, good work! A+

He should've killed that orc, I mean, he was an orc!

  • Orcs are people too :D

  • Very Good!

  • Completely Epic, awesome song.

  • Tah + ou - legal. os atores são pessimos. hehe mais valeu a tenmtativas desses Fãs. ~^

  • Nice work!

  • Excellent! I just got the animated series for Christmas...this was well done! Invisible cloak and magic bow effects were sweet! I want Eric whining next :-)

  • Very well done!

  • Comment removed

  • WOW awsom !

  • That was some good acting! I must admit, it far surpassed my expectations for a D&D scene.

Photography could use some work, maybe with some better angles and more fluid dialogue, but it was compelling nevertheless.

    Good job. A+.

  • good job!!! effects on the bow were great!!

  • Slow at first, but I'm glad I kept watching... 5 stars =)

  • I like the magic items depicted in the video. Are they from a manual or personal creations?

Amazing video, BTW. Should be turned into an entire series of short film format stories for television. Good job.

  • D&D cartoon as a live action movie? hmm, it could work. But you should keep it to the tone of the cartoon don't you think?

  • nate klergie 5 hjas tom morello and sean connery playing dungeons and dragons

  • Very nice, good costumes, good acting, all in all a nice bit of film making. well done.

  • Very nice amateur film

  • Mooore...please give us moooooooore

  • The special effects were really good.

  • Must've have watch this over 60 times, never get bored of it!

  • i always thought those kids were cowards my sessions have my sex and violence than most movies

  • man that was great! Loved the Orc,, that was the best part,, Looks like you made the armour out of a welders's jacket.. I did the same thing.

    very nice effects too

  • Good part: Redhead is sexy. Bad: The acting.

  • I liked it. Hank's acting is good enough for a feature film.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Storyline was good, effects, apparel, and setting were good, but the dialogue... nothing wrong with the words, but they could have had a bit more emphasis from the girl.

  • This was a great video. It isn't often that I get to see something this good based on something that I loved as a child. The music was a nice touch. I've heard it before from Heroes of Might and Magic 4 and Dungeon Odyssey. Where does it come from originally, what is it called, and who composed it?

  • Fantastic! I've been gaming for 24 years and that was just great!

  • what program did u use for th fx

  • 3dsMax and After Effects

  • @mackdaddprod really good job, i love the special effects

  • @kilroy8989 I know. Its pretty good for computer generated acting. XD

  • that was awesome!

  • that was cool

  • this makes only a few times i have seen the video, thanks for the video, it's a good one, and explores hanks darker side, great job

  • excellent,

  • good idea for this film that they may never git home

  • Thanks very much, it raises an important detail never addressed in d&d and its nice to see it made the centre of attention!

  • I have the D&D dvd set and is excellent! "Choices" is a wonderful short film! I hope to see a very long version of it.I'm from Puerto Rico and I love D&D cartoon, it's my all time favorite! Thanks Mackdadd for than excellent video. The effects are great, the costume and the actors, first rate! I hope your company make the final episode of the series "Requiem" too! Again thanks and God bless your great talent!!!!

  • Awesome!!

It would have been cool if you had used the same sound effect from the cartoon for when Sheila vanishes

  • oh my god I'm dungeons and dragons cartoons fan since I was a child¡¡¡

this film is fantastic¡¡¡ thank you¡¡

when can we see a really film of dungeons and dragons cartoons?

    does anybody recording it?

  • Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this vid. makes me want to see more.

  • The effects were very clean and used sparingly as only to enhance the story... Im feelin that... the same in ur other short "A thousand Words" I think was the name... very nice work. Software? AE maybe?

  • Thank you for noticing! Yes, I try to use effects to enhance stories, not BE the story. "A Thousand Words" will be posted here on youtube as soon as I'm able to put it up (currently tied up in the iStock contest). Yes, After Effects for compositing, 3dsMax for all 3D, and Premiere for editing. Thanks for checking it out, everyone!

  • I thoroughly enjoyed your video! You're absolutely correct about using the effects to "enhance stories, not BE the story." Growing up playing D&D I imagined how dark and harsh it would be to actually be there--absolutely enthralling to see this created and acted out with such quality. Please continue your storytelling--you're right on!

  • yes! wooooooooooooo!!!!!!

  • What editing software did you use?

  • that is amazing!!! I really love it, and I would love to see more :)

  • If you guys can ever get a budget, it'd be great to see more.

  • Hey man! Really fantastic to see this!! The effects turned out great!! I really enjoyed watching that, you did an excellent job on this, and its great news that you've got on the DVD! well done man!
