  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • now i want mac os again....

  • 5:05 windows looks modern and easy to use, 5:17 back to the 80s

  • Ewwwww.....The SCULLY ERA (ICK)!

  • I'm blown away by the 3D car at 1:30. Sophisticated 3D graphics...makes Avatar look second rate. I'm amazed. Incredible. Leaves me speechless.

  • When I still in high school in the early 1990's I always walked past two nerd kids who were arguing loudly with each other about whether macs or pc's were better. They both would have whacked this guy over the head with a rolling pin for being so irritating.

  • Apple had the voice of SIRI 16 Years ago!!!!! 0:38

  • ...

Is it really to fucking hard to do this yourself?

  • even in this video -> the mac user used his mac to install windows <-

  • Even to this day voice recognition and virtual reality are still somewhat bad, although it is a lot better.

  • Apple made this bad promo! I can't believe it. Even though some of these features are amazing compared to what the PC could do.

  • @nicdem25 you must remember that this was created during the dark ages of apple...the period when steve jobs was fired...he came back in 1998, and the ipod came out in 2001...

  • Not worth it, listening to some guy in a suit drone on about some computer so old it's creepy for 7 minutes... TOTAL FAIL! But still something very amusing about it...

  • I've always wanted to drag 3ds max files into notepad. Make it happen.

  • Imagine all the money people wasted back then. anyway this is funny, I dont mac back then could be anything but boring. And win95, Im using 98se because with all the right mods it can do almost anything and very fast. But anything below is useless in my opinion

  • pcs are better because macs cant play games

  • That guy looks a LOT like a PC

    Espionage anyone?

  • This salesman is speaking total BS. I was doing uni mathematics in 1996. An Apple could not crunch numbers at all for say, optimization software that came with a uni textbook. You could not pass a uni degree in applied mathematics using only an Apple computer in 1996; I KNOW because I WAS IN that position as a maths student. So, I used a Windows PC for maths and the software in your maths textbook ONLY worked with a Windows PC.

  • @heavensgateufodriver (or it could've worked on a mac with a pentium card installed)

    .

sorry... just had to say it.

  • It's 15 years later and voice recognition is still just as useless.

  • @element271 Google's made incredible progress with Voice recognition and marries up very well with Android. Of course, Jobs launched his stupid "thermonuclear war" against them. Maybe Google should sue apple for using anything of google in their OS.

  • @oldtwins Don't like Apple, don't like Google, FUCKING HATE Voice recognition, its a inefficient and inaccurate way of interfacing with a device.

  • It's 2012 and macs have finally got a cut feature. Revolutionary, right?

  • its an early version of siri!!!!

  • What's a VCR?

  • @SnommeK VERY CRAPPY REPLAYER

  • Wow, this is actually somewhat informative

it's also boring as shit and the idiots who buy legit macs would think that PCs are now cool and hip.

  • Comment removed

  • Well, you see, they just didn't show a man in a suit talking. He made tons of valid points. You have to admit that.

  • @Hildron101010 Agreed, I'm actually more inclined to buy a mac back then after seeing this commercial.

  • wow, i remember that pc-mac switching thing from when i was in high school... i guess that's why "Bootcamp" wasn't that impressive to me.

  • that's because whenever Microsoft tried to do this, stupid apple put a copyright on it. At first Microsoft couldn't even have overlapping windows!

  • @MrMinecrafterEXTreme You should go invent or innovate something, see how you protect it and copyright it.

  • Siri

  • This kind of shows how Apple just missed the boat. To this day the company can not let the total package mind set go, and in the end that limits the use of the platform. Windows is starting to adopt that and it wont help MS.

  • @TheShowThatSUX

MS Win is and probably will always be a cross computer platform compatible OS, but the flirting with the all-in-one software and hardware package known as xbox could lead MS on different thoughts. Besides, its bloody expensive. I myself is just waiting for Canonical's Ubuntu (or one of the other Linux distros) to catch on enough to gain attention from high end 3rd party software devs. Until then, I'm dual booting.

  • its PC! (mac vs. pc commercials)

  • ok now im impresed about the things that were pposible back then i tried runing win95 on my wii and sound was terrible but to see this im impresed by mac

  • Lmao my school still uses QuickDraw 3d as its drafting class software. Small world huh

  • WINDOWS 8 NOT WINDOWS 95 (AKA I HAVE WINDOWS 8 NOT WINDOWS 95) WINDOWS 8 HAS 3D LOL XD

  • boooooring !

  • hahaha... lol... old computers still suck

  • Screw this.

    Amiga for life.

  • @irclifford

    Damn right!

  • Todays computers both Mac and PC have those features...

    -.-

  • anybody know how much this was back in 96

  • this is the biggest pile of bullshit i've ever seen

  • @toyota339

It does matter. You appletards always have to rewrite history in your favour. If it's not so important to you appletards then why brainwash the media and the general public saying Steve Jobs created the GUI,and the mouse, and the cellphone and everything else. Why? Because you want your precious Saviour to be more than he really was which was nothing more than the biggest asshole in the world.

And for the record I live on my own and have done so for 12 years now.

  • @snake2006 That's alright. You don't need to buy any of the products. Unfortunately, there are people like yourself that waste there own time insulting those that praise Apple products. It really doesn't matter if they didn't invent the GUI or Mouse. (Only the ignorant think Apple invented them. Apple never claimed to inventing these products) However, I pretty sure your among the ignorant ones that claim that Apple do not revolutionize the market. Your just as bad as the so called fanboys.

  • @toyota339

It's a Cult no a religion. Apple has got the world so brainwashed now that when Jobs died they began to give him credit for things he didn't even do. Like creating the first GUI which HE DID NOT, creating the mouse AGAIN HE DIDN'T. According to the news media cell phones didn't exist before iPhone. The cult is so bad that they are attempting to rewrite history in their favour. Next they will say Hitler was Apple's biggest supporter, that is how fucked up Appletards are.

  • @toyota339

It is a cult. Look up people like iJustine on this site alone. They take their apple fandom to the most retarted level. Look at the idiots who line up and sleep outside in the cold and rain just to get a fucking iPad or iPhone. Look when Steve Jobs died, you had fucking idiots buying extra apple stuff JUST TO LEAVE IT OUTSIDE Apple HQ as memorials.

It's a fucking cult. Look up people like Apple Soldier on this site. They are brainwashed.

  • @snake2006 I'm pretty sure you are also describing Microsoft about 15 years ago. Being devote to a product or person is merely subjective. If it isn't obvious to you yet. Than you are clearly thick.

  • did anyone else try to click next on the creative setup?

  • NEVER, I will never ever turn to the dark side and join Apple.

I hate Apple and the sooner they go out of business the better the world will be.

Then the sheeple can WAKE UP and see the lies Apple shoved at them for decades.

  • @snake2006 One day you'll wake up and see how much Apple has done to the computing industry. By the way the argument Mac vs PC is over, use whatever you like, no one care.

  • @DoberFrann

    Name 1

Commodore has done far more than Apple ever did.

And to this date the C64 is still the best selling computer of all time.

The Mac did nothing the Amiga couldn't do and the Amiga did it better.

Apple didn't create the GUI, that was Xerox used in the Xerox Parc system Apple just licesned it for their mac.

The first mouse goes back even further and again the Xerox Parc was using it long before the Mac.

Nothing Apple has EVER done influenced anything. Stop lying Sheep

  • @snake2006 Fortunatly, Apple was the only company that invested in Xerox at the time. If it wasn't for Apple implementing the GUI or Mouse. Companies would of never touched what would of been known as a 'Gold Mine'. On a side note. C64 is not the best selling computer to date. It used to be in the 80's.

  • @MoreBoingPlox

Go check the Guniess Book of records right now. The best selling computer is STILL the Commodore 64 with 30 million units.

It still holds the record. Facts are facts.

Also Steve Miner was working on a GUI for the Amiga platform which debuted 1 year later, and Jack Trailmel was doing the same at Atari for the Atari ST. If Apple didn't do it first in the personal market the other 2 companies would have. So once again you appletards are changing facts as usual.

  • @snake2006 Need to check that fact out (Best selling computer). The simple fact is that that Amiga came later. You can't just say "If Apple didn't do it first..." your just contradicting yourself. "Fact are facts". Apple did it. That is all. In no way does it make them superior either. The huge Apple fan base are not concerned about numbers and figures of the past. Apple don't make crap. Get your head out of your ass. It's a company. Your just as bad as the ranting fanboys.

  • @snake2006 In fact we saw how well these other company have done in the past 2 decades. So now you say "if Apple didn't do it first" someone else would have done it so they have no merit; but when some other company would have done it first they have all the merit? So once again we can tell how narrow minded you are.

  • @snake2006 Apple may have not done anything first. The innovation we all talk about is that they had taken the risk to bring some of these things to the masses. If you ever read the Innovator Dilemma - and maybe stop the hating - you could understand that sometime innovation is not just pioneering something but also implementing them in the market.

  • I never said that they created anything, and that Apple has never influenced anything is the biggest lie you could tell to yourself. Your rage make you blind.

  • @DoberFrann

Apple influenced nothing. Commodore had more of a influence than Apple ever has.

Commodore made computing mainstream and easy to use. Commodore 64 was the first home computer to have built in sprite capabilities and a built in dedicated sound chip called the SID chip.

Commodore 64 started the homebrew scene on a massive scale.

Allot of todays game designers started with a Commodore computer. Linus Torvald of Linux fame started with a Vic 20.

  • @snake2006 Also the Apple II is the first successful mass produced PC.

  • @DoberFrann

Once again WRONG. The first successful PC is the Commodore Vic 20 which the first computer to sell 1 million units. The Commodore 64 is the computer which ushered in home computing in the first place, with a affordable computer and one of the most powerful ones to boot. It had 64k Ram standard while the Apple II came with 48k expandable to 64k. It had little sprite capabilities and poor sound. While the C64 came with the SID chip and sprite capabilities with the Vic II.

  • @DoberFrann

I am going to continue my war on Mac till all your god damn morons WAKE UP.

It's time to put that cult to bed. The sooner Apple dies the better, and they are well on their way now, since their savior can't save them this time.

  • @snake2006 I presume you like companies that monopolize markets and have a great control over there consumers. No thank you. I'd like Apple to stay in the game. They begin trends and revolutionize the product market. The fact that Apple is around means that others must be competitive. Please go back to school.

  • I don't know where I saw this video, but this was the video that convinced me to buy a Powercomputing Clone Mac.in 1997 -- you have to admit, although dry, very thorough in it's info.

  • I love to watch a James Bond adventure

  • Hey, PC. What are you doing advertising the Mac?

  • @EpicEarn I hate it when people call Windows PC and not Mac. PC Just means personal computer

  • A survey with 50'000 PC users? OMG that's a lot of computer users!!! Imagine if THAT many peoply were using computers today!

  • show them siri and theyll shit their pants.

  • Visual Basic Script didn't exist during 1996?

  • can it play games?

  • why does he say world wide web its so 1990s

  • "Hi, I'm a Mac, and in 1996, I was also a PC"

  • OK i didnt know "Paralels" already ran that well in these days... !

  • Siris mom

  • This promo is pissing me off. I also now know why Apple managed to get the majority of the Multimedia community.

  • it is like siri

  • and now pc is better

  • @pcpik3r What is the difference honestly? There are PCs worse than a Mac. There are Macs worse than a PC. I am a PC fan, but really don't start this shit because technology retards will come in saying Mac is better, when it's a fucking operating system, so Windows can't be better than Mac, Mac can't be better than Windows. It depends on what your specs are...

  • @lilfunnydude41 i know i still ove mac and pc

i have three hackintoshes (pc ith mac os)

  • There were significant hardware differences. People often say no one buys a platform because of hardware, but that's never been true - still isn't true today. Macintosh was a great OS on top of great architecture, but my favorites back then remain the Silicon Graphics computers and the Amiga. When it came to 3D and video, Win/Mac were okay. I used mostly 3D Studio on DOS, then Lightwave and resisted the jump to 3D Studio Max. Amiga was just the best.

  • To creaate 3-D graphics you need a HIGH POWER WORKSTATION? Something like a AMIGA?!?!?!?! Hahahahaha! :D

  • The computer WILL OBEY!

  • Apple did all those Mac vs PC commercials and I wondered where they got the PC guy. After watching this video, I now know. He was a Mac guy first. This is the PC guy or his twin brother..LOL

  • In what way is this bad?

  • Siri back in the day... 0:27

  • Comment removed

  • lov

  • cool

  • See wat happens when Steve I gone

  • The most amusing part of this video was how they mentioned you can write documents on a Win95 or IBM compatible PC and transfer it to an Apple computer but not the other way around. By the way, this wouldn't have been so easy for Apple if they wouldn't have shoved lawsuits so far up Bill Gate's ass that he offered continued Office for Macintosh.

I don't hate Macintosh computers, I loved OS 7-9 but you can tell Apple was being desperate in this video.

  • When it came to graphics, nothing could beat the Amiga. It was a graphics beast.

  • This is better then Windows 7 for gods sake

  • The 3-D Truck Wouldnt Work On Win 95 Because He Dragged The Icon Into Wordpad, Not Paint.

  • @thomaje68 and it would probably do same thing today as it did than:D:D

  • This says at the beginning copyright Microsoft. This isn't owned by apple.

  • @CJEmusic No, that's the copyright screen for '95, but it isn't entirely clear what it's doing in this video.

  • Great machine vs. bad marketing :)

  • apple did was better back then. But I always got a normal pc and 'windows' Because I could choose how I wanted my "pc" to be

  • I expected a Touhou remix...

  • Sound's like Siri's grandma.

  • 15 years later and apple is Still Trying to sell speech recognition: SIRI

  • annoying guy.

keeps his nose pointed up and eyes looking down on you.

    just annoys me.

  • PC Guy also forgot to turn off his cell phone while making the video!

  • fuck macos fuck offff apple, long live microsoft

  • @MyZeta4 Fuck Yes

  • Siri is the descendent?

  • Siri 0.0.0.1

  • wow 3d!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is this the first version of siri? WTF

  • GLaDOS anyone? ;)

  • In a way, the mid nineties were the best time to be a mac fan. You KNEW you had the best operating systems available at the time, but yet the masses rejected them and you were a tiny minority if you went Mac. You really had to believe to keep the company afloat. This old video reminded me how I use to say those same things to get my family on board with Apple. Thankfully Steve Jobs came back and made videos like this unnecessary.

  • Man. Computers have come a long way.

  • HA! Only millions...What a joke.

  • Very cool advert, it shows how inferior Windoze was to the Mac.

  • I'm assuming those PC Virtualization cards were around the same price as a cheap new PC.

  • 0:28 The Siri of 1996.

  • Hello mike. Lol, this is siri! From like, 1995!! Lolololol

  • "Hello Mac. This is Mike"

"Hello Mike. Let me change your desktop background for you"

    LOL!

  • The funny thing is that Windows 95 clobbered the Mac even with those 'extra' features. Speech recognition was a joke, and that 3D app was a gimmick at best.

  • that is siri

  • siri

  • In 90s steve jobs was pc user and his own NeXT computer.

  • One more thing.Back in 90s,i can play game on my pc.

  • Back in 2000 i could use mac os on my pc using softmac emulation.Windows 98 runs Mac OS 8.

  • 0:00 DOS

  • who's the suit?

  • I still have the 8500. It was a beast back in the day.

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder how many takes it took to get that speech recognition to work.

  • Its Siri lol

  • I could install Mac OS on my PC (in 1996). Oh wait...nevermind, I can't, because Apple won't let me.

  • @ipeters61 Sure you could. I did. DOS compatibility card, and a handful of early virtualization programs. There certainly wasn't any Windows virtualization programs available back then.

  • @orac666 how

  • @ipeters61 no, you couldn't because Mac used PowerPC processors and PC used Intel ones, so absolutely incompatibles. And the PowerPC processor was too way complex to be emulated at all on Intels (it took years)

  • lol at 2:57

  • While I sit here typing on a mac mini running Lion, (Snow Leopard being the best OS ever) It is amazing how much things have changed just in the last decade.

  • I wonder if this guy had any idea that thousands of people would be watching this comercial on a PC in 2011.

  • Love the user of the phrase "world wide web" TECHIE!

  • Why the hell is the human PC advertising Macs?

  • @EvilUncleFrank Because at this point of history another human-PC had fired steve jobs and as a result apple where.... kind of lost in the lameness forest, or where until jobs came back

  • @EvilUncleFrank

Yes. WTH!? How the hell did he even return to mac advertising because of this?

  • wow, Siri still sounds the same as she did back then -___-

  • Apple was run by fat Gill Amelio at that time and getting close to bankruptcy. Steve Jobs came back in 1997 when Gill bought NeXT, and Steve saved Apple and made it great once again.

  • @HHGFHJGFHJGFJTYFJDGY after getting bailed out financial by Microsoft.

  • No it wasn't cool because there was a PC narrating the whole thing... I guess.

  • Love how he actually says, "World Wide Web."

  • Sorry, the mac OS in that year was a dog and extremely painful to deal with. Extensions make me twitch.

  • This looks like the PC guy.

  • Siri.

  • "Many PC makers say, 'Someday you'll be able to tell your PC what to do, and it will obey'". Siri ftw!

  • i was going to ask what was so bad about this until i saw the end.lol.

  • pretty good for 1996...

  • i didn't think this was bad. i actually found this very interesting, made me search up that 3d program, but then i found out it was discontinued :(

  • But now you can have Windows AND Mac OS running on the SAME processor! Otherwise...it would take 2 big heatsinks in your tower, a power supply good enough to handle everything smoothly, and those 2 CPUs will probably output a lot of heat!

  • system 7.5.5

  • Good god, the computers voice.. *shudders*

  • "But now" oh god, the way he says now...

  • Speakable Items is ready.

  • I remember using crappy performas as a young kid. power pete lol

  • Ouch ... this is not good.

  • That actually is Steve Jobs.. he went to Disney and asked them to give him a makeover and one of Eisner's old suits. He then snuck onto the Cupertino campus and made this promo video.

  • Siri is very old as it seems

  • And people wonder why Apple was in the shitter..

"Apple is like a ship with a hole in its bottom, and it's my job to point the ship in the right direction!" - Then-CEO Gil Amelio.

  • If only Apple was still leading the way in the desktop OS world. Wait I forgot--all the new OSes this year stink.

  • AppleScript= Siri in 1996

  • Hey, I just have to give Apple a thumbs-up for selling their systems based on its tangible functionality, even providing a direct comparison against windows, rather than trying to sell you on "it looks cooler" or "you'll be hip, just like all the cool people." If I had seen this ad growing up, I might have actually ended up going with Apple as my system of choice.

  • you have to admit though for what they were showing in about 95 was pretty impressive at the time

  • @ryanthetaylor say that when looking at NeXTSTEP which was around the same time =P
