I don't know how one can put a price on such a beautiful piece of art like that.By the look of it,clearly a man who took pride in his work and his art...
for some reason iv always loved old type guns like flintlock, blunderbuss, the repeater and so on,even tho im 16 an i was born in an era with a desert eagle,m16 ak-47 and so on iv always like the oldie guns.i wish to have even have a replica one day..but dont get me wrong i like all the guns but the oldies seem more luxurious and beautiful.
@gravedigr12 Haha! You wish! More like: 900 hours production time x 50 to 80 dollars/hour = $4500 to $7200 for labour PLUS materials say $2000 to $3000! You are looking at a one of a kind gun at about $6000 to $10200 from a MASTER craftsman. OR you could get a factory gun, a Pedersoli say, without all the fancy engraving and woodwork for about $600 to $1200.
I have a Replica of a 1777 Charleville Musket and it has a really hard trigger pull, real hard, can you please tell me how to fix this, there no gunsmith here that works on flintlocks.
Hey Don! If you're listening.. God Bless You!! What an amazing pair you represent... A beautiful life, mirrored through beautiful guns.. You are what make it all worth while...
lyman and traditions make longrifles that are good for rendezvous and very affordable. If you google "custom long rifles" and be patiant you can find other makers lik Pecatonica or Gobbler knob
They're basically the same thing. The design originates in Pennsylvania, but became known as the Kentucky rifle because of it being carried by frontiersmen to Kentucky. The term "Kentucky rifle" also became common because of a popular song of the day called "The Hunters of Kentucky." You can tell that the rifle in the vid is an early Revolutionary-era design because of the sliding wood patchbox.
completely different guns, i like them both. the .44 desert eagle will do some damage and it's a blast to shoot. The flintlock is more of an antiquity and has a certain grace when you shoot it.
everyone knows that every thing accurate and beautiful weither it be muzzleloader or target rifle comes from PA just one mans opion sorry kentucky guys i know this will piss some people off.
That is a work of Art..!!.I have an intrest in antique firearms and would like to make a flintlock, caplock too. I agree with seanboy..ask Don if he could put that work on display. Very impressive. Great vid btw. Could you display more of your pieces..?
a few of don's guns have had national recognition, the one in the end credits traveled with a display of other US historical guns to a couple museums. Don made it and the owner allowed it to go on tour.

Fine rifle. Too fine to shoot.

It is made to shoot. If the maker is willing to shoot it, what right do we have to object?

the cart thing at 5:55 is not a charriot. what is it called? like those fancy colonial, or victorian wagons you know
condorlegion89 2 years ago
Do you mean the Amish wagon with the horse inspecting that tree?
Jrhoney 2 years ago
Yeah but I meant those fancy ones from the victorian era. Are they also called wagons? cause wagon sounds kinda too western/cowboyish you know
condorlegion89 2 years ago
Stagecoach?
Jrhoney 2 years ago
Yeah, but that's like a western diligence no?

I just finished my first flintlock build. He makes it look so easy! Suffice it to say mine has plenty of gaps, cracks and corrections.

Indeed very beautiful gun. All hand made. The stock is brilliant. Did you bought specialized machinery for one gun? Well, I like this gun.5/5

How awesome is it that when the rifle goes off the dog runs forward straight to the jug. not all art is on canvas or clay that is for certain.

But if it were in a museum, it's true beauty could not be enjoyed.
