There are tons of great ideas on these HGTV shows, but the camera work/ editing is maddening! There never is enough time to actually gaze at the subject .
I can't find your website. I would love to do this in my kitchen. I've been wanting granite countertops but I can't spend the money. I would love to see exactly how you did your kitchen. thanks
hi i just wanna know what kind of sprinkle you use on the countertops?and please if you have time.. can you list all the things that you use, like what kind of paints.. etc.. thanks
Everyone must visit Jen's website OMG!!! Amazing stuff...you are very talented! Would you please let me know the colors you used for the counter top along with the gold speck and dust brands? I need to redo my yellow formica counters :) Thank you so much!1
I have a counter top similar to yours..but I have the little aluminum trim in the corner that connects the counter top to the tiled wall..did you paint over that trim?
I just reviewed your website:) WOW!!! You are a very busy gal:) I too enjoy painting..but no where near your work at all:) But..I would like to redo my formica counters. Could you let me know the colors you used on this project? Along with the gold leaf specks and dust? Thank you:)
Wow! It's amazing what can be done with paint and a lot of talent. It has inspired me to consider doing a faux finish on a large formica-topped table for my sewing room.
You are very talented. I just painted cabinets now of course would like to do counter and tiles/backsplash. I am interested in your kit or if you can tell me as well what type fo foil you used for tile and where to purchase, also the counters shopping list.
I love this too, and I am so going to do it in our new house! Our kitchen looks about like your before pics and is so boring. I think the foil she has used here was rainbow foil done sideways from jones tones. I think you can get it at walmart. I love the rainbow tiles the best =) Now if only I could figure out what sort of metalic dust you used for the countertops! lol
Awesome eye for beauty, Jen! I echo the questions about where to buy the foil adhesive and the metallic sprinkles. I also wondered what colors you mixed with the glaze for the tiles? I'm no good with colors so I'd love your advice. Lastly, how do you clean your countertops? Can you use chemical household cleaners?
Thanks, Jen! Your talent is incredible. Thanks for sharing your process.
Hi, i was wondering what was that thing you used to seal your counter top. I also was wonderign where to purchase the foil adheisive and the chalkboard paint. And when you asnwer please please teell me where to purchase them and also the sealer counter top thing. THanks.
Awesome, questions: Did you prime before paiting tiles? Did you use an adhesive before the foil and did you seal the foil afterwards? If so, what did you use. I tried your website but cannot connect.
Just saw your video absolutely loved it. I tried your website but it is not working, hopefully you'll get this email and respond. I too have very white wall tiles and would love to do a similar treatment but I need more info such as: did you put anything on the tiles before stamping on the paint? Once paint was dried did you put an adhesive before using the foil? After applying foil did you seal it and if so, what did you use?
Great ideas and fantastic results in your kitchen! Ironically, I had planned on decorating my kitchen in a chef and fish theme. I am an artist who is fascinated with fish - I have painted several large oil fish paintings. (I live in Florida too!!!)
Can you answer a couple of questions for me? Where do I purchase the foil for the walls and the sparkle materials for the countertops? Also, what is a brayer (spelling?)- the tool used to place the poster on the fabricated brick wall?
I really like what you did with your kitchen! I need to do something with my kitchen and my counter-tops are attrocious. I absolutely ADORE what you did, but I am afraid of ruining my countertops as this is unchartered territory for me.
Where did you purchase the metallic dust? Where did you learn to create such a finish??? Is there a video or book that you used that I can purchase somewhere?
I have been a scenic artist (faux finishes, theming out theme parks, restaurants, etc) for years. Painting on all kinds of substrates are "industry secrets" - no secrets anymore. The key to painting is the prep work. Sand (to give "tooth", clean. and Prime well... after painting... seal and let cure!!!!) Remember... it's just paint... you can't really "destroy" anything... if you don't like it just start over and paint over it! :O) Go for it!
Hey Thata is really great and I love your entrepreneurial spirit! Awesome! I have one question....I have a lot of children whom will be cleaning and using my countertops....so would this finish be durable with that type of use? Thanks so much!
Thanks! I have 3 kids of my own and YES it is absolutely durable if all of the prep work is done and sealed well. That HGTV segment was filmed over 18 months ago and the finishes look the same. I have done faux finishes in all of my homes on all kinds of surfaces and they have all done great. Go for it! :O)

This is my inspiration for my college apartment. It made me so happy to see that I could remodel my place and make it wonderful without going broke. I came up with million ideas and thank you so much for posting it.
LOL... Thanks! I am in the process of doing the rest of the house including bathrooms... I will post those rooms and I will post my first HGTV segments soon as well :O)
You are amazing, my hero I bow down to you, I thought I was kool when I painted the walls and stained the kitchen sink. you are something else, post the other rooms
I used an oil based polyurethane since I used water based paints. You can use a water based polyurethane if you spray on the first coat, then brush on the remaining coats.
Amazing job in the kitchen!! I have a question: the paint you put on the tiles, is it removable?? I've been thinking of painting over my bathroom tiles, but it's a rented home, so in the end I will have to remove the paint. Could you give me any advice on that, please?
Hi. Thanks! It is not removable and I do not recommend painting in shower tiles yet. I am coming up with a solution for that. .. However since it is paint it can be painted over for a different look later on.
Jen, you are a very talented individual! I decorate houses for a living and will keep your kit in mind! It's a wonderful place to retreat to! And it makes you want to cook like a real chef!!!!
Yes! You do not need thousands of dollars to re-do your kitchen. What you do not pay for in labor you pay with some creativity and some "elbow grease"! I am offering kits with all of the specific supplies needed (along with step by step color photos) to create all kinds of finishes for your own home. :O)
I am actually offering do-it-yourself kits with everything needed to re-create my finishing techniques including step by step color photographs! I will have a shopping cart added to my website for individual purchases! :O)
Your segment is great!! I just have one question. Where do you buy the foil adhesive? What brand? Appreciate the info!

Very clever done, and very nice. I got a few ideas out of this myself. :-)
But still, it's a bit fun to watch how designers (professional and not) imagine themself european styles. :-D

Hi Jen-
Love your video on HGTV. Just a few questions:
1-Did you use an adhesive for the gold foiling on painted tile?
2-Did you seal the painted tiles?
3-If so what type of sealer did you use?
I want to try this so badly....
Thanks!

I just saw this today on HGTV and went out to buy everything needed. Two questions-
1-Did you use any type of foil adhesive to apply the foil on the painted tile?
2-Did you seal the tile? What was used if you did?
Thanks-you are a goddess!!!
