  • Denver, Jake, Doy, Big Chief, and Hovie, the best lineup the Statesmen ever had.

  • I like gospel that's more like big band (like the Statesmen, for example), and less like country. It used to have its own distinct sound, but now, a lot of times, it just sounds like country with clean lyrics. This is wonderful stuff!

  • Chief's voice was so smooth and rich! I really love how he could hit the low notes and the high notes with such fineness.

  • Thanks for another video of this wonderful and best group of the Statesmen!

  • I know this song is on Statesmen Encores on Skylite records w/ Rosie on tenor. It may also have been released as a single.

  • Another great Statesmen video. I was so born in the wrong era. I'd love to witness them in their prime. Chief's voice is VERY moving :)

  • I myself am too young to have been blessed with seeing Denver Crumpler perform, but I have seen the rest of this lineup on multiple occasions. Let me tell you, no video or recording comes close to displaying the artistry and explosive energy of a live Statesmen performance. I sure hope there's a corner of heaven dedicated to gospel reunion concerts!

  • That's what I've heard. I'd love to be able to go back in time & witness that. To hear Rosie sing "O, What a Savior". To Jake's smoothe leads, Doy's sweet tone, & Chief's booming voice. Yes, I hope in Heaven that there's a stage just for all these groups that have gone on to be w/the Lord.
