Why can't they make movies like this anymore :( A movie that can make you laugh, tug at your heart, and leave you in the end learning a valuable life lesson. I miss John Candy and John Hughes, thumbs up if you agree.
God, I know that sometimes the good dies young for a certain reason. We may never know that reason until years from when it happens. But I can't take it any longer!!!! Why did John Candy have to go sooooooooooooo soon!!!
True, this is a hilarious movie, probably one of the funniest I have ever seen. However, what makes this a classic is the emotional depth in the movie. Never have I seen a movie which can make you both laugh and cry hysterically as much as this movie does. This is an unbelievable performance by John Candy, and this movie is one of a kind, and, unfortunately, the last of its kind.
@baseball15man i could'nt agree with you more and the music on this clip and his death makes it all the more sadder rip jc. i don't know was he married or had kids? but anyhow whoevers concerned i wish them well

John's father died at about the same age he did with a bad heart. He was a great guy. The only guy from SCTV who really made it big, and the funniest.
@akkuma420yahoocom Family Guy's jokes are completely unrelated to the plot. You could interchange ANY Family Guy cutaway with any other-they are completely irrelevant to the situation. Seth McFarlane relies totally on 80's pop culture references for people to laugh because he can't do it on his own. Every character is flat and predictable. In 20 years, Family Guy will not be understood or funny. The only laughs FG gets are shock laughs and references. That quote wasn't funny either, just like FG
@akkuma420yahoocom I love how you completely forgot about everything else I said and focused on the troll comment.

And considering the fact you continue to quote the same unfunny line repeatedly leads me to believe you have Autism.

It really just shows what a lack of a personality and sense of humor you have. I bet you do that shit all the time. I'm starting to feel really bad for you dude.
@akkuma420yahoocom No no, it doesn't piss me off. I just think anyone who find it necessary to quote an unfunny cartoon needs to be told that isn't the way functioning members of society interact with one another.
I honestly feel bad for you. I'm also not just randomly calling you names-I'm saying these things from what I've gathered about you. Constantly repeated things is something an autistic person does.
the part where Candy is sitting in the car in the snow becuase he doesn't have enough money for a room is one of the saddest scenes I have ever seen in a movie. he just sits there talking to himself about how he pushed another person away. I cry every time I see that part

Their will never be another john candy. A great actor, a great man. You never heard any gossip in tabloids about em, cause he was just a regular ol guy. It's a shame their aren't to many reg ol actors left.
I love this movie, this was what true talent was made of. I can't think of single John Candy film that I've seen that I thought was crap to any extent. This movie was one my favourites, masterfully mixing great comedy with great drama. You look at some of these recent comedies and think what happened to hollywood. Oh well, hopefully some this well return to hollywood in time.
I absolutely love this movie, even though it's a comedy it has so much emotion in it. Truly a masterpiece! R.I.P. John, old buddy, you will be remembered forever...
Please check out my Fresh Prince of Bel Air Reenactment, I will be doing some John Candy one's shortly. I'm not acting to act, I'm doing it to make my dream come thank you!

in family guy one they changed wife to friends....cuz peter IS talking to his wife when he says this, lol. although it would have been funny if he said wife lmao.
This movie had me laughing so much I almost fell out of my seat, until this part/music was played -- then you get an idea of what Dale Griffith's life has been like the past year!
Amazing movie, with amazing actors and write/director Hughes.
This film and other 80's comedies are the reason why I can't stand watching comedy films. Films such as this, Breakfast Club, Midnight Run and others were so brilliant that I can't help but cringe at some comedy films these days.
This is back when Comedies had a deeper purpose than to get the cheap laugh or gag in. John Candy's movies in particular go far beyond that and display a narrative that can be enjoyed with a mixture of emotions. It has no genre.
You never see Hollywood actors over 2 stone any more. Very shallow don't you think? That's why new films are CRAP! Film companies only care about image and not the plot or acting abiity. This really annoys me. But people are too easily pleased and gullible enough to believe the hype and part with their hard earned cash to watch this dribble. This is a sad time for genuine movie lovers who appreciate fine cinematography.
I like the part when theyre are on the plane and john candy takes his shoes off and says. "my dogs have been barking all day" Steve martins face makes me laugh.
John Candy is a legend, peroid. Nowadays comedians have to take the piss out of people, John was different-he didnt have to piss take to make you or anyone laugh. Johns acting and comedian skills are UNDERRATED. He will go down as the best.!!
John Candy, in my opinion your death was the biggest loss in Hollywood to comedy ever because you were only 43 years old and had so much more to give us. John Candy I am now 29 years old and I will perform in my first play in twenty years because I'm no longer afraid if they won't like me because of my size. John Candy, from MIKESOWELL thank you.
When news first broke of John Candy's death on March 4, 1994 I was a 13 year old 240 lb black kid who was teased and harassed daily. His death engulfed me in true grief. I could relate to him. Because as I saw in him, as I saw in Gleason's eyes, and Belushi's eyes, and Farley's eyes even while smiling was pain. Pain that comes with not knowing if people are laughing with you, or at you. Pain of trying to conquer your demons, but failing time and again. But, he never gave up and became an Icon.
Really cool comment Mike, you hit the nail on the head. Candy was an incredible talent, as was John Hughes. Truly memorable movie and the was perfect for it...very emotional.
i highly reccomend this movie!

Their will never be another john candy. A great actor, a great man. You never heard any gossip in tabloids about em, cause he was just a regular ol guy. It's a shame their aren't to many reg ol actors left.
RIP candy.

This movie had me laughing so much I almost fell out of my seat, until this part/music was played -- then you get an idea of what Dale Griffith's life has been like the past year!
Amazing movie, with amazing actors and write/director Hughes.
RIP Mr Candy and Mr Hughes

This film and other 80's comedies are the reason why I can't stand watching comedy films. Films such as this, Breakfast Club, Midnight Run and others were so brilliant that I can't help but cringe at some comedy films these days.

This is back when Comedies had a deeper purpose than to get the cheap laugh or gag in. John Candy's movies in particular go far beyond that and display a narrative that can be enjoyed with a mixture of emotions. It has no genre.
eishikibahamut 2 years ago 5
You never see Hollywood actors over 2 stone any more. Very shallow don't you think? That's why new films are CRAP! Film companies only care about image and not the plot or acting abiity. This really annoys me. But people are too easily pleased and gullible enough to believe the hype and part with their hard earned cash to watch this dribble. This is a sad time for genuine movie lovers who appreciate fine cinematography.

Ive never known any other film to successfully arouse so many different emotions. (laughter, sadness, shock) etc.......
This is the greatest road trip movie and buddy film ever to grace the silver screen.
John Candy was a genious.
I also like Uncle Buck, Armed and dangerous with eugene levy. (Also very funny) and Who's Harry Crumb.
Absolutely brilliant and very much missed.
RIP JOHN CANDY

MIKESOWELL 2 years ago 5
Really cool comment Mike, you hit the nail on the head. Candy was an incredible talent, as was John Hughes. Truly memorable movie and the was perfect for it...very emotional.
Good luck with your play!
