  • Thanks for the tab. Awesome song and awesome teacher!

  • Oh man Reckoner is so awesome

    (You're awesome too, don't worry)

  • Nice

  • Look-up "Reckoner (live for their VH1 special)", and go to the 4:10 spot to see the part that i'm referring to. Happy strumming!

  • Great tutorial on a great song. I was checking out your outro, and though I really like what you're showing, i'm wondering if Thom actually ever sneaks in that Bminor part or not..I was watching a live version of Reckoner, and when you see the shot of him playing the outro, it looks like he's switching only between two chords..check it out, but either way, great tutorial --keep it up!

  • Thank you veyr much. This one is difficult.

  • warren, you are my hero

  • thank youuu!

  • good lesson for people who know how to play well and just want to learn something new without all the bullshit... thanks

  • Thong lamp! Great job :3

  • Some people are just jackasses.... There u are, giving free tutorials on how to play some of our favourite songs, just teaching us how to make it sound like what we like to hear, and some just come over here to give bad comments... Just don't give a shit, dude, that's a great job you're doing, and please just carry on, your work is very much appreciated indeed. Thanks for all this, Warren, sincerely.

  • hey, is there anyway to transcript/show what strumming pattern you are using?

    cool work by the way.

  • @farmerbongi Check the video description

  • 1:18 - He means to say "D is the same shape as C", not E.

  • Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  • dude you are LEGIT!

  • thanks a lot for this lesson!

  • Thank you for all of the Radiohead tutorials. They are always very precise and easy to follow. Unfortunately, I still slaughter most of them in practice, but only in private. You're helping me to evolve though, and I highly appreciate your lessons.

  • This might be how plays it on acoustic but its not how he plays it on electric. He definitely plays it higher up the neck, you can tell just from the tone.

  • cheers man i love your videos, would love to see you do a cover of this as well.

  • I confess that you inhibited me in the beginning (first couple of months since I got this guitar here). But now you're encouraging me :)

There's actually no better source than you and of course we can all always go back and forth until we learn this beautiful language.

  • Excellent mate gonna take me a while to figure out tho a little hard to follow but thanks you nailed it

  • I am impresed, dude. Great f*cking job you did here. So cool you share it with us, thank you!

  • this is an awesome tutorial!!! none of the tabs sounded right....thank you!

  • Your guitar sounds like crispy crystals sparkling in the summer night moonlight.

  • @fortysixyou you sound like a fucking dumbass lawl

  • The half-barre 877700 is soo hard :/

My finger always nicks the 2nd string, i guess it just doesn't curve that way

  • Thank you so much man

  • the chords at the beginning are the same ones used by incubus - drive

  • guys help, when I play eg. fake plastic trees the 1st tab X 0 2 2 2 0 that I understand it tells me to mute the 1sr string leave the 2nd one open then put my finger on the 3rd string 2nd fret on the 4 th string 2nd fret and on the 5th string second fret and leave the last string open and so on .But here I dont get the tabs somehow :(eg the 1st x35050 warren doesnt put any finger on the 3rd fret he bars it and he doesnt put his finger on the 3rd string 5th fret. how do these numbers work please?

  • @1malandrino1 Nobody's barring anything for C, and the ring finger is on the 5th fret of the D string (what you call the 3rd string). You've got it right, except that people generally reverse the string numbers, thickest actually being 6th string and thinnest being the 1st string. Otherwise you have it exactly right. This means the D string is actually called the 4th string, and not the 3rd. The chord tabs I talk about are always from thickest to thinnest, in that order.

  • @warrenmusic oh thank you very much for your response! so if I understand it correctly, the1st tab x35050 means that I dont play the thickest E string than put my finger on the 3rd fret on the A string then another finger on the 5th fret on the D string then I leave the G string open then put my finger on the 5th fret on the b string and leav the last E open?...sorry to bother you with these simple things:( I just really like Radiohead songs and your tutorial is awesome so I wanted to learn:)

  • @1malandrino1 That's exactly right, no need to apologize. To avoid playing the open 6th string E (thickest string), try muting it with the tip of your index finger that is already on the 5th string.

  • @warrenmusic i got the same problem because it seems you are using your median finger so i didn't understand

  • @TheGrimReeferx No need to be rude, man. You're entitled to play your version but understand, mine is based on the acoustic version from the Jonathan Ross show. Thom also plays it similarly in the Age of Stupid performance. Your fingerpicked version is actually more like the album version, although they use the other fingerings on the 6th string. You can see these shapes in the Basement version: C (8 10 x 9 0 x) Em (12 14 x 12 0 x) D (10 12 x 11 0 x).

  • @warrenmusic

    Fuck him you're awesome k?

  • @TheGrimReeferx at least have the timing down before you rip on someone. Any half-wit knows you can take Warren's guide and apply it to finger-picking. Keep smokin' your schwag DB!

  • Amazing!! Could you send me the tab?

  • Learn the songs yourself people! The discovery of songs, specifically Radiohead, on guitar/piano is so much more interesting when you do it by ear.

  • when I understand this chord things x5770 blablabla...ill return..right now my brain capacity has colapsed.

  • @emng09 it's easy, he says what fret your fingers should be on starting with the top string, x means an open string.

  • @JL4NE x means you dont play the string at all

  • @vic80895 x means you mute it, you do strum it just produces a mute sound.

  • @vic80895 same difference

  • Dude you sound good you should sing Reckoner and play it without stopping and post!

  • your the man warren. so glad your enthusiastic about radiohead like myself and many others here. Thank you for posting this wonderful acoustic version of Thom's

  • So helpful dude, thanks. I will probably donate to your cause. Get your guitar yet?

  • by far the best tutorial on youtube for reckoner, and you're right: all the other ones are inaccurate

  • Your like the God of tutorials to me, so Ill ask something

Is there a real difference between playing C, or using two fingers and sliding them around? Hope you get my question.

  • @stinkfists462 Yes there is a real difference. You have to compare the notes in each version of C you're playing to understand the differences... and it helps to have a working knowledge of music theory/chords.

  • thank you man! i ve been singing all day long! hope you get money to buy lots of guitars!

  • thank you man! i ve been singing all day long!

  • Hey thanks so much for the video, totally awesome...I'll definitely donate to your new guitar fund as soon as I figure out a song I want you to cover. quick question as I've only been playing for a couple months and I don't know any theory: My guitar has a bad 11th fret on the low E. Is there a different place I can play that B major over D sharp chord? Or do I just need a new guitar myself?

  • @treysfull There is another place to play it: x6x470 and fret buzz can usually be fixed by someone with experience (take it to your local luthier and have it checked out for an estimate).

The guitar fund is over. I have my new one already, but you are more than welcome to hire me out to do a specific tutorial or acoustic arrangement!

  • @warrenmusic

    Thanks!

  • perfect , very good job , thanx

  • im subscribing to you bro, good lesson!

  • that was awsome, my band and i have been trying to cover this for ages but simply couldnt find the right chords. Just wait until i tell them tomorrow!!

  • Really great and helpful!!! Thanks ;)

  • Respond to this video... good job

  • Just gotta say, bro, you are my hero - This is one of my all-time favorite songs by anyone evar and this acoustic rendition of it is absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing this tutorial! I'll be checking all your others out for sure.

  • Amazing tutorial Warren.. the singing was pretty cool too..

  • Alright Warren,

been watchin the "live in the basement" show over and over because, well, i simply cant help myself. BUT, it has given me the chance to compare how Thom plays to how you and i play. I dunno if the chords he plays are jus funky variants of what you teach but he certainly moves around the fretboard in a different manner. I have almost zero knowlegde of music theory (unlike ur well trained self), so i dunno if we're playin identical chords in different shapes n places. Any help?!

  • @GFibbs25 They are basically the same chords. This tutorial was based off of the live Jonathan Ross version. They are not exactly identical... the voicings are subtly different and a few notes are present in that version that aren't in this version making the Basement version a bit more harmonically complex in the bridge than this one. I've seen Thom play it three or four different ways (Basement, live in San Francisco on screen, Age of Stupid performance, and not "seen" but heard on Jon Ross)

  • thanks. this was extremely helpful.

  • radiohead is my favourite band, and i just learned there there from him, and then i look up reckoner on guitar and i get warren again, completely by surprise, didnt know it was his video until i saw him and i knew itès going to be good

  • @bigwrench01 Hahaha thanks man, you should just subscribe! I have 50 videos!

  • Fantastic tutorial man, really. Guys like you, doing this for nothing but the pleasure of teaching, you're what makes the internet awesome.

  • I'm finding it impossible to mute the 777. Any tips?

  • @drewthegoo Don't arch your middle finger too much, just be lazy with it and the fleshy part of your finger will mute the 5th string naturally.

  • it costs nothing to repare the headstock of a guitar...

  • @YTimshel Check out the pics... it was a short break and most guitar shops either wouldn't guarantee it would hold or would have charged over $500.

  • thanks warren! You helped me out here. gr from holland

  • great voice

  • thank you couldnt think of a better way to spend my first day of holidays. boom boom cheers all the way from australia

  • those weird chord shapes are also used in an old fuel song called shimmer.

  • Similar chord shapes, not exactly. You mute the 4th string in Shimmer.

  • @warrenmusic

oh true. close enough though lol.

been awhile since i played it. soon as i seen this video i was like i've used these before in a different song. almost the same ones, that is.

  • @backman412 Yeah, close enough... Fuel has other songs that use these chords too. Two students of mine like Fuel a lot.

  • wow, love your style and voice. Thanks!

  • Good Man Warren, Played this Version at a gig in Galway

last Friday Night and it went well.

Your Tutorial Has Rippled over to Ireland. Thanks Dude!

  • serious lesson, but your finger looks fcuked up man, just at 5:33. not being a dick, indebted to your great tutorial. love this song and as every1 else has stated: you killed it. thx and please keep posting, you've a great taste in music :P

  • @wakamolazo It's regular tuning

    E

    A

    D

    G

    B

    E

  • this is a hard one to learn!

  • reckoner is one of best songs in 2000s, I love it

  • Man I love these tutorials! Keep up the good work. I found another way to play the middle part, which Thom Yorke also plays! (Check out some of Thom's acoustic version of the song..)

But hey, who am I to correct you!

  • you make me want to learn guitar

  • well if your watching this...and have a guitar..and have any sense of music, your learning :)

  • genious composers radiohead

  • For The Age of Stupid he was picking the A and the B string instead of strumming the chords, had a really simple pretty sound to it, just a thought

  • @jirdimaster Yes sir, quite observant. I found out the acoustic version was from his appearance on the Jonathan Ross show.

  • Tanks a lot!

  • he says "because we separate like ripples on a blank shore"

  • thom yorke is god

  • tus otros temas estan buenos pero este no tiene nada que ver con lo que toca tom york, deberias chequearlo y tocar la version original del from basement

  • Warren, your tutorials are by the best on YouTube man! Thanks alot, you've taught me so much!

  • Fantastic, man.

  • Dude you are awesome! Thx for all your Radiohead videos.

  • Thank you for this video.

  • you r kind of a god or sth?

    thanx mate.

    5/5

  • Brilliant tutorial 5 stars, cheers mate

  • this is a great tutorial, do you think you can do one for the electric and show the way he plays it on the record. There are just some weird nuances and the way he plays it is so hard to figure out...im sure it would be no sweat for you though, especially if you listen to the reckoner guitar stem

  • Are you kidding me?

  • Yes.

  • Haha.... where could I possibly even start with this... the "radioheads"?

  • @qhfgfg665435 Wtf? What are you high on?

Oh, opps, didn't notice you were deaf.

  • Can you do a Pavement tutorial for Transport Is Arranged?

  • I'm preparing a Radiohead tribute concert here in Brazil and your tutorials for the In Rainbows songs are helping me immensely. Thanks a lot.

  • here we go again

    you are making me cry

    oxoxox

    is the best album

    and has not being replaced

  • I could never play this, but that would be no fault of yours! Good lesson. Take care.

  • Comment removed

  • really nice tutorial, thanks!

  • Because we separate it ripples our reflections!

  • "Because we separate like ripples on a blank shore" are the correct lyrics.

  • fail @ me

  • notice i didn't publish my transcription of the lyrics lol

  • Haha, it's okay. Most people have In Rainbows lyrics wrong for some reason. The lyrics are in the official concept art (funnily enough, it says, "you can't take it with yer (sic)", but I bought the album on iTunes after the official download went offline. I dunno if the concept art was available during the original download period. It also says "in rainbows" at the apex of the song right between the repetitions of "because we separate [...] shore," even though he's not saying anything there...

  • omfg, thanx babe. you totes helped out me and my mate. lover u

  • Nice job bro. Thanks for that

  • wish someone would write down the chords in the right order.. its so confusing for us the newbies..
