The point is the KMT won, no doubt about that. The DPP had so much opportunity to clean up their own mess within 8-years' window and they did not. Obvious this cannot be factual as TIbet never even had a population of 20 million, so if 20 million Tibetans were killed that would be every single Tibetan were killed, and then re-killed several times. Currently there are 5.4 million people in Tibet, the highest population count ever. Five times the population of ethnic Tibetans before the communist took over. Infant mortality in Tibet dropped from 430 to 33 per 1000 (still quite high) and literacy rose to 55% up from the 3 %.

We have freedom of speech and voice over the government. In US, the government works for its people (theoretically), whereas in Taiwan, people work for the government. KMT's flaw it's written in history, let the history do the talking and read it yourself; I don't need to enlighten your mind. I am fully aware of that. But DPP has done more damage to Taiwan in 8 years than did the KMT in the history of Taiwan. Has any KMT leader ever seen his people hating him and wanting to depose him? No! Only A-Bian has experienced that. I trust the people, so when the majority of people have problems, then there's problems with the leader.

The point is the KMT won, no doubt about that. The DPP had so much opportunity to clean up their own mess within 8-years' window and they did not. Instead of cleaning up their own mess, they showed so much aggression towards the partisans. Now with KMT's victory, the DPP will have tough luck recovering.

i agree-the dpp had no experience in governing after being in opposition. kmt had been sourpusses-being obstructionist to everything. prc is the real enemy-the new parliament rules favored kmt in many ways & dpp knew that-but reforming taiwan's political culture & system was more impt. dpp will have a tough time recovering, but it will be introspective & will recover. the kmt need to realize that it needs to reform and be ingrain as a taiwan party & not a china one. good luck

All good points. Turton (View from Taiwan) demonstrated that the DPP show themselves in the foot due to gerrymandering by the KMT and even themselves. By his estimates, they automatically gave up 6 seats! Talk about no experience!

Yes the media puts a gloom & doom pic-those who are affected commit suicide-i dont think the economy is great here in usa-where are all the suicides? The DPP has faults/I have stated Abian's shortcomings, but you cant deny DPP's vision for better/free Taiwan. If you credit kmt for projects, were they started under pres Lee? IF DPP WAS LIKE KMT WHEN IT TOOK POWER IN 2000, IT WOULDVE KILLED/JAILED ALL HOODLUMS LED BY SOONG/LIEN WHO COULD NOT COME TO TERMS C ELECTION LOSS. DPP GOVERNED IN MIDST OF HOSTILE/SORELOSER OPPOSITION WHO WASnT FORMED UNDER DEMOCRATIC BUT LENINIST PRINCIPLES! KMT WAS ABLE TO SUCCEED IN TAIWAN B/C TAIWANESE AS KOREANS WERE ALREADY A DISCIPLINED/EDUCATED PEOPLE. TAIWAN ALREADY HAD AN INFRASTRUCTURE IN PLACE. KMT FAILED CHINA; IF IT HAD RAN TO HAINAN ISLE INSTEAD, IT WOULDNT HAVE SUCCEEDED.

Taiwan needs to have confidence in itself and have hope in its freedom and nationhood even in the face of china's pressure. the kmt wants taiwan to be subservient so the spirit of fear and negativity is so prevalent in the pan blue media. i will list taiwans achievements in the past 8 years soon.

5% growth rate more than any other dvlpd nation in europe/jpn/kor.
taipei 101/bullet train system/subway system/snow mtn tunnel-one of the most impressive engineering feats of the world. letting the world become aware of TAIWAN. i welcome the kmt to bring taiwan to nationhood. not to harp on the past--this is the present. a future to stand up--not kneel!

Perhaps you're just a well-informed DPP, that's another word for well-informed asshole.
Taipei 101, bullet train, and subway system were all KMT's projects, just that Bian stole them. Anyway, why don't you go ask the people, and see the percentage of people who still support Bian? I'll tell you, it's less than 20%, that's also why the KuoMinTang won the recent Parliament in the landslide. That gives you a rough idea of how Bian screwed up Taiwan.
