@vondeliusc Yes, I definitely had my winter-wear on: 4 layers on top; heated socks, jeans, and motorcycle pants on the bottom. Yeah, there were a lot of "crashing areas" below me; I'm used to it, and on this cross country route that I've flown many times, I always stay aware of where I can go, and when (for an attempted highway landing). Unfortunately there ARE a couple of 10-15 minute stretches here and there with nowhere to go; I fly as high as I can over those areas.
@cnlwoo Did I mention NEW VE owner (since 08 Dec 2011); I made electric boots for the trip: cig lighter>3.3vdc, nice and toasty :-) Highways are our friends, perfect for runways, as long as those pesky drivers keep clear, and you don't meet a semi going the other way on touchdown '-)

Beautiful scenery! Would have liked to have seen a full (horizontal) video of some of those areas...especially over Lake Tahoe coming in to Truckee.
