I find it unfortunate which you to it not in-little something explain and everything so fast lets go through. There nevertheless nobody comes along correctly. The ball is beautiful, but by the fast operational sequence and usually indistinct pictures of the video the whole is inconspicuous.
Ja hab ich, aber dennoch falls ich mich verfalte stimmt der ganze Ball nicht mehr und außerdem sitzt man da noch ne halbe Stunde später oder länger immer noch dran. :/
That's really nicely done... I'm not a big fan of the colors but still, it came out beautifully. I'm going to try and to this with 2 color schemes, 1 will be red and white, and the other will be red and black. Can you answer me this please: What paper do you use? Regular photocopy paper? Cardstock? Or some other kind of paper? I don't want to use really flimsy paper when I make it so it would really help if you could answer me that.. Thank you! :D
@sinnersgrin WOW, Thank you for being very specific, I really appreciate that. I really needed someones advice on the kind of paper as well, and you already answered that too! Thank you again, you're very helpful. :)
@TheWWEGreat cut smaller squares... you can use scrap paper you find too, just make sure its at least as thick as printer paper otherwise the ball could be too fragile to play with.
well most people are saying this is not origami but from what i can see the little flaps on the side will make it stay together, meaning it is origami. the glue is not to put it together, the glue is to keep it together.
@ourworldloversforev Your doing it correctly! Each of your transformer openings (made w/ blue paper in my tutorial) will be a flat side of a dodecahedron. Google the word dodecahedron to see a pic, it will give you more understanding!
@sinnersgrin yerr i hope so :D its better to wait a week i guess than use PVA glue and have to make all of the pieces again, although it only took 2 nights to make them all (not even that maybe 1 night combining the times lol)
thanks for the advice i think i will try to get glue gun because i agree that making all those pieces for it to be ruined would destroy me lol as it is taking ages just to make the pieces, my mum isnt that sure about me getting a glue gun because i am only 13 but im sure i can change her mind very easily ;)
@origamiqueen19 Glue guns aren’t that dangerous! I hope she says yes! Getting glue on your fingers hurts and may blister, but has never left a scar on my hands- and I burn them with glue a lot, it happens. Just be careful!
@origamiqueen19 PVA glue is like Elmer’s, but claims to work better. I think it would work OK... as long as you use it sparingly and go slow. As you build the model you may have an issue with the finished work wanting to pull away as you add on because the glue has not dried yet. Hate for you to put so much time in folding the pieces in case it turns shit bc of the glue not drying quick enough. Glue guns are like 5$ at Wal-Mart.
just finished making one...note to anyone who makes one for the first time use more than one color.....u will get lost......mine looks horrid but it works
@talkingburrito3 Maybe 30 minutes to glue after all the pieces have been folded. I usually multi task by watching a movie while folding- then take the time to glue. It doesn’t ever feel like it takes so long when you fold by movie light!
@azaptap2561 Cut down your paper to the size you want...(take a square of smaller size paper and divide in half for correct proportions) But if your referring to the number of pieces it takes to make, this ball cannot be made with less than 90pcs and still transform.
@chanceloves I’ve made one using rectangles about that size before and it looks cool, but it doesn’t really collapse the way the bigger ones do. Maybe it would work better with sticky notes because the paper is thinner than the printer kind i used!? I remember the gluing being a little frustrating as well with the smaller pieces and the burns from the hot glue :)
@ajmer809- I use colored printer paper- cut it down with a paper cutter to the size you want. Stapels and other office supplies always have a good selection of colors, cheaper than actual origami paper by far.
@MissCrafty22 no. im sure you can use any glue. Hot glue works well because of its quick drying and heavy hold, keep that in mind when choosing to use another type of glue.
try the stores that sell office supplies- they sell all sorts of colored printer paper. Stapels... Office Depot- whatever store you have in your town! The kind i buy comes in 4 shades of like colors - cost around 10bucks for 1000 sheets.
LOL :) take big paper and cut it down to the size you prefer. You can make any origami as big or as small as you want! Dont waste your time with scissors--- your squares never come out perfect like they do with a paper cutter.
@pokewmonman :) yes yes. I deffinatly agree that this is not 'traditional' origami! This diagram came from a Tanteidan Convention booklet a few years back, im not sure if they have came up with new classifications for origami now or not?!

Make sure you get a high quality black construction paper.(I ALWAYS use the brand "tru-ray" it never fades and is deep black.)

before you cut it down how many pieces of paper do you need??
ajmer809 11 months ago
@ajmer809--
1 sheet (8.5X11) will make 4 big squares at least. This model takes 90 squares. 90 / 4 = 22.5 YOU WILL NEED 23 SHEETS OF PAPER FOR ENTIRE MODEL.
If making it two differnet colors as i did, Blue paper=8pcs White paper= 15pcs
simple math skills.
