So, almost 50% of that number is partisan inflation on the part of the political left. According to the Business and Media Bureau and various other thinktanks, only about 8.2 million Americans are without health insurance because they are too poor to afford it.

Under the proposed bills it has to negotiate w/ suppliers for prices & must operate entirely on premiums collected - just like the private insur. co.s'. Most people wouldn't even be eligible to enroll, & the CBO est.'s only 3% of the population would be on it. Private hosp's & doctors would still be private & the insur. market would still be dominated by private insur. co.'s. How is that a "gov.t takeover of h.c.?

Medical skill is private property that commands a value on the free market. Health insurance is a product on the free market that is priced accoring to risk tables and profit margins. Once government interferes with this, AS THEY ALREADY HAVE, then this is what drives up costs. I could cover a child for about $7 a month on a major medical plan. Jeanne Shaheen, then the governor, now the Senator, made it illegal to exclude pre-esisting conditions in NH, and 27 of the carriers left the State. Now we have four times as many children without health insurance, and costs have quintupled. Demarxcrats.

Well, there are some people in this world that would rather NOT be insured - it is their right!! I have been without employer provided ins for about 6 months now - every dr I see has been vey fair in their charges and I have paid out of pocket. IMO, the ONLY reason to have med ins is for CATASTROPHIC care, not for the once a year check-ups or the colds, etc. In addition, I recognize that one day I will die no matter my age and am prepared for that too. I do not expect others to pay for me.

@hauskalainen My daughters pediatrician prescribed and MRI to look at her kidneys last year. From the time she called it in to the hospital it took and 3 hours and we had the images. My son broke his are VERY badly 3 months ago. We went to the local hospital and he need to be flown to a specialist for surgery. All in all it took 7 hours on a Sunday. Only public clinics and emergency rooms in America have any line to speak of with a worst case wait time of two or three hours.

(2) Robbing Medicare and SocialSecurity to fund this healthcare bill.
(3) First 10 years adds $500 billion to deficit. Second 10 years adds $1.5 trillion.
You read it right, 2nd 10 years adds $1.5T to the deficit. Obama's team has not yet responded to this criticism by Republican Senators. Majority of Americans do not want this bill passed, but Democrats will try to jam it through using reconcilation tactic.

So, almost 50% of that number is partisan inflation on the part of the political left. According to the Business and Media Bureau and various other thinktanks, only about 8.2 million Americans are without health insurance because they are too poor to afford it.

The GOP decided from day 1 that killing any h.c. reform would be in their political interest.
So they misrepresented & lied about the h.c. bills:
- they talked about "death pannels" but that was discredited.
- they falsely labeled it "socialism" and "socialized medicine", and a "govt takeover of h.c" - and have been hugely successful with that tactic. The truth is, however, that under either bill private doc's & hosps would still be private & private insur. co's would still dominate the market.

The public option would be under the rules as private insur. co.'s. Under the proposed bills it has to negotiate w/ suppliers for prices & must operate entirely on premiums collected - just like the private insur. co.s'. Most people wouldn't even be eligible to enroll, & the CBO est.'s only 3% of the population would be on it. Private hosp's & doctors would still be private & the insur. market would still be dominated by private insur. co.'s. How is that a "gov.t takeover of h.c.?

Medical skill is private property that commands a value on the free market. Health insurance is a product on the free market that is priced accoring to risk tables and profit margins. Once government interferes with this, AS THEY ALREADY HAVE, then this is what drives up costs. Don't force insurance companies to cover people, rather, create incentives within free market principles that will enable coverage to be extended to the needy. Spare me Federal control. What a joke.

IN NH in 1995, I as an insurance salesman had nearly 30 carriers I could choose from, even some that specialized in high risk clients, which of course had higher premiums. I could cover a child for about $7 a month on a major medical plan. Jeanne Shaheen, then the governor, now the Senator, made it illegal to exclude pre-esisting conditions in NH, and 27 of the carriers left the State. Now we have four times as many children without health insurance, and costs have quintupled. Demarxcrats.

Anyone can walk into an ER and get medical care. What happens though is that too many do this and then do NOT pay for it - this is the big problem. Medical care is not free - dr's spend years in training and come out with $100k of debt they need to repay cuz training so expensive. People need to be responsible for their own lives and not expect for free. I have no med ins, can't afford it unemployed. I don't expect others to pay for my med care - I pay!

However, it is not going to be an option to switch to this bill - it is mandated that if you do not have private ins, you MUST have this one. This one forces you to pay for things that you may not want. Plus once a govt bureacracy is established it is impossible to get rid of it. This bill, if passed, will take away personal, individual freedom and give the govt even greater control over the care you rcv than it does now. RATIONED CARE will result, dr shortages will result. Well, there are some people in this world that would rather NOT be insured - it is their right!! I have been without employer provided ins for about 6 months now - every dr I see has been vey fair in their charges and I have paid out of pocket. IMO, the ONLY reason to have med ins is for CATASTROPHIC care, not for the once a year check-ups or the colds, etc. In addition, I recognize that one day I will die no matter my age and am prepared for that too. I do not expect others to pay for me.
