im betting the reason ppl are having Trouble is because of the fact there Games are diffrent versions look at the top right of ur Black ops Screen it will say the version if there not the same u need to connect ot xbox live and update... i believe theres a way to send the updates over systems links NOT sure how but you know.... Look for it :D

@lue03 I am not intierly sure but I think the reason it is saying that is because one of you to has a update that the other dosent. Try clearing the HDD cache on both xboxs and then try it again.
