  • isnt she the queen in the movie?

  • @rndomprtyr0916 Oh she is, in the 1997 remake. This is the 1972 movie where she plays Winnifred :D

  • @kikyorules10 sweet :D

  • @rndomprtyr0916 yup, in the 2005 version with Tracey Ullman as Fred. I almost like her more...

  • Quite possibly the most hilarious thing ever!!

  • Amazing!!!! :D

  • The Queen disliked this. ^^

  • i was thinking about auditioning for pirates of panzance with this song :P

  • I'm auditioning for this show and I really wanna be this part because Shy has been my song since I started acting in 2nd grade, I used to be a shy little girl and then hit the stage.....this is perfect, anyone have and ideas on how I should prepare for the audition....please give your oppinions, it would be greatly appreciated!

  • @famous4afact honey just sing loud confidant and clear that's how i got my part

  • Carol Burnett and Sarah Jessica Parker are both very funny in this song, but Carol should teach Sarah Jessica Parker some of the stuff she did.

  • i want glee to do that!

  • who disliked this?

  • I have to memorise this freakin song for an audition... :((

  • I can't help but smile. :)

  • Can someone PLEASE tell me what key this is in??????

  • @johnkrisnessy The key signature changes on almost every page of the piano reduction, but the tonal centre shifts around a lot more often than that. In my score it floats around in Eb, C, Bb, and Am, at the least.

  • @johnkrisnessy Its in the key of "D Minor"

  • @johnkrisnessy In the published score, the chorus is in D-flat major, and the verses are in A-flat; at the end it modulates out of D-flat (right around "But I know I'll never live happily ever after till after I'm a bride"), and ends in A-flat. On the Original Broadway Cast recording, Carol Burnett sings it a half-step lower than published (starting in C major); in this video, she's singing it a minor third lower than published (starting out in B-flat major). Hope that helps!

  • "And before long...his head grew back"

  • I wish you had the entire broadcast here!

  • I love how she's winnifred in this, and then in the disney version from the late 2000's she gets to play the queen ^_^

  • I just got cast as fred in my school play!

  • gosh this chick would be perfect for ms. Hannigan in Annie

  • @Sammi32797 She did play Ms. Hannigan!!!

  • @Sammi32797 She is! or were u being sarcastic?

  • Do you have "In a Little While" with Bernadette Peters?

  • Im playing Fred in my school play,im thrilled!!!! Carol is just wonderful, the whole musical is!!!!!

  • my schhol is doing it and i got fred

  • She is PERFECT!

  • it's ridiculous how much better this version is compared to the sarah jessica parker version lol.

  • soooo much better than SJP!!! xD

  • My gosh, that IS Carol Burnett! Yes, she was... 39 when this was made, but she hasn't changed since 1972!

  • It appears this 1972 version was made after Carol signed a new contract with CBS whereby she and then-husband Joe Hamilton gained total control over "The Carol Burnett Show" (the first five seasons thereof were co-owned by the late Bob Banner under the terms of her first 1962-72 CBS contract); I.I.N.M., it was also in this season that she and Alan Alda starred in a TV production of the play "6 Rms Riv Vu."

  • She is a good singer.

  • I wish they would do tv musicals today. I loved the 2005 version of this. Wish they'd do another musical in that way.

  • I wish I could find a good DVD version of this one. I remember them playing this when I was a kid.

  • My school's doing this show in the fall - I can't wait for auditions.

  • She proves here that she really can sing.. great legit broadway belter for sure. Sometimes on her show she did so many littel medleys you didnt get the change to see her cut loose like this. That, plus she shared her show so gracefully with her co-stars.

  • I wonder, is there a CD of this version? I have all of them except this and I like this version the best.

  • there is!! you can get it on itunes:)

  • Her hairstyle and even the costume are so very "1972"!

  • Do you have any clips of Bernadette in this?

  • My school is doing once apon a matress. I got Winifred... so I get to sing this song!!! I'm sooooooooooooooooo excited!

  • @Drama6Queen7 i really want that role!!!!!!!!

  • @alliekat1098 i got it its awsome

  • THIS IS MAGIC!

  • my theatre group is putting on once upon a mattress, and i get to sing this song!!! i love it!

  • I love Carol Burnett as Winnifred! She has an amazing voice!

Just out of curiosity, was that a real audience or a laugh track?

  • i basically ADORE Carol Burnett.

  • 0:19

  • she sang it very dramatically

  • Im only sad they didnt include the Rapunzel verse

  • I also love the Rapunzel verse, but I have never heard the Winnifred verse, and I also like it. :)

  • i think i've watched this everyday for liiiiike....... two weeks. and i'm STILL not sick of it. :D

  • who can get sick of it? 'Specially when she sings it :p

  • <3ILOVEHER!

    She is amazingg :)

  • i was once in this musical... and i don't think anyone could top carol burnett

  • Yeah I was in it too. I totally agree with you.

  • Do you think this could of inspired the sond in Shrek The Musical ?

  • but she's still amazing!!

  • i agree beefnotfish, but we have carly so she's pretty much second

  • wow this is just so....wow. god so good. so perfect i used to love tracy ullman...now i only like her. carol is so brilliant.

  • Carol Burnett is second only to Lucy... Otherwise she's the best!

  • I agree with you.

Carol Burnett is an amazing comedian but Lucille Ball, at least in the mind of my family, will always be the "Queen of Comedy."

  • I like to include outside influences too. For instance, Lucille Ball was apparently very demanding and rather "bitchy" to her cast and crew at times. Carol is well known for her calm and kind countenance.

She has often said how she doesn't have time fo stars who don't care about their fans.

  • Please remember that it WAS Lucy who convinced Vivian Vance (Ethel Mertz) to leave her physically abusive husband. I quote, "Viv, if you don't divorce that man, I will!"

Richard Keith, (Little Ricky) also went on record as saying that Lucy was the only person on set who treated him like a human being.

Does that sound like somebody "bitchy"?

I'm not saying that Carol Burnett isn't a lovely person, only trying to preserve some of Lucy's reputation.

  • Oh, indeed, I do agree! I'm just saying, as far as professional manner, most would say that Carol Burnett was a w...

Oh what am I saying? I don't know either personally and both are HEROINS of the screen and stage!

You're right to try and preserve the memory of Lucy. I was very very obsessed with Carol Burnett at the time I made that statement (always will be, but was militant then).

*toasts* to the many many queens of US (and world) comedy!

  • Hear hear!

  • She was AMAZING as Winifred!! i hope to play this role someday! ^_^

  • love Carol Burnett

  • she is so great!!!!!! love it! (go add this song on your iPod! it's great!!!!!)

oh, and if you haven't seen the 2004 movie version of this, carol plays the queen in it wonderfully! check it out! :)

  • this is 1952

  • No it isn´t it is 1972 they made a television version in 1964 and 1972 with Carol as winifred

  • i love carol burnett this is so amazing.
