If you think about it having robotic technology in between the hand and the scalpel could be safer. It could be programmed to disregard sudden movement, for example, so a surgeon with shaky hands would seem less shaky-handed.

I'd be OK with the robotics but with telepresence they'd better have a damn good connection. The last thing I'd want is for the internet connection to go down while the scalpel was still inside me!
