    haha

  • now we just need a lecture with the same visuals in ENGLISH!!!!!!

  • i dont speak... watever ur speaking..

  • Thanks for the tutorial! but I have a question. I kinda did a vibrating sound but it sounds so "throat-y", like it always sounds like I'm about to spit. I think it may be because it's the back half of my tongue vibrating instead of the front part. Is this possible? If so how can I improve it??

  • i learned how to do it 2:24 is the general idea

  • omg 12 parts to doing it and people say its easy

  • @BeastifiedCodfather Actually if you have understood what he said - which I doubt - you have heard that he said we don't have this consonant /r/ in Cantonese and Mandarin, that's why it is often hard to learn this sound for Chinese people.

Omg thank you so much! Your explanation saved me from years of struggling. Can't believe I can pronounce this now by having watched a short video. Xie Xie Ni Ah!

  • Actually, his description helped me roll my r's better than any video!! This guy is epic!!

  • I really did practised but i just cant do it ;(((

  • English subtitles...

    Soon better come sooner

  • You should do this in English, not everyone speaks Cantonese.

  • @Pre114 no everyone speaks english either

  • OMG!!!! I HAVE BEEN FINDING A TUTORIAL FOR SO FUCKING LONG TIME

  • I can't vibrate the tip of my tongue... what the fuck, only the back of my tongue ever vibrates. If I leave the gap where the back of my tongue isnt touching my throat, nothing happens at all just air leaves my mouth. Fuck rolling r's

  • I read your comment and tried repeating 'Fuck rrr-rrrolling r's' several times quietly till I almost got it.

  • THIS VIDEO WAS AWESOME. i learned how to do it just by watching this once, and no other video helped or got close. I dont speak cantonese but the english translation did the job. i thank you for making this video, it made me a happy guy.

  • fuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!i cant do this!!!!!

  • oO

i thought it was english and like after 2 minutes i thought .. 'ey wait... thats NOT english!! aaaah thats why i don't understand anything :D' :D

  • I think you explained very well but I still can't do it! Will you make a new tut in the future? Estoy estudiando Español.

  • To be English subtitled soon.....

    Soon=4 years??

  • This really helps in my learning of spanish . Thanks so much for making tut .

  • This is really good, I never thought of using the sounds you make to snore as part of the trill sound. I started practicing how to do the trill two days ago. I read multiple sources.

I find the wikihow with the multiple techniques really helpful, as it includes methods such as the Butter/Ladder as well as the Tiger Method. You also have the crazy Russian guy at 6:00 in his video Rolling R's Baybee]

My sound isn't smooth but I can vibrate my tongue. Big step.

  • i sooo want to do this !!!!!

  • very nice... I am speech therapist in Greece :)

  • thanks! finally i'm able to do trilling! now i need to practice on putting it in words like pedro. I really liked the fact about snoring. i think that's what helped the most! And consider putting this in english, it's really helpful. again, many thanks

  • thanks finally after im finally getting trying for like 15 years to do that thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooo much

  • no, i cant do it. =.=

    but appreciate.

  • I CAN'T DO IT.

  • I'm a American born Cantonese, and I finally understand why I can't roll my r's, thanks to your video. Is it the same rolled r as in german proununciations?

  • ENGLISH PLEASE

  • I can vibrate the tongue now but i still can't produce the "R" specifically.

  • By the way, do you keep your upper and lower teeth closed? Or keep them spaced from each other??? Didn't mention this in the vid.

  • 3 and a half yrs wheres my subtitles

  • @SouljaboyFan399 you could have been studying Cantonese these past 3.5 years :)

  • @rainbowlyrics12

It's English, you just can't understand it because there's something wrong with you.

  • @flagwatch

we understand what we're suppose to do and there's nothing wrong with english speakers, it's just very difficult to acquire the trill after you pass a certain age

  • @jasmin5592

It was a joke. The speaker seems to be speaking Cantonese.

  • @flagwatch

    not really that funny

  • Comment removed

  • @jasmin5592

It seemed really obvious that it was not English, and I assumed the person I was replying to knew that.

I don't really understand how you misinterpreted a facetious remark about what language the video was in as an attack on native English speakers for having difficulty with a foreign phone, but I am sorry for the confusion. Attempts at humor, no matter how modest, are always less fun when misunderstood.

I will strive harder to create the Ultimate YouTube Comment Joke.

  • Thank you! i have a spanish test tomorrow and you totally save my life

  • i don't really understand how to make the snoring sound..

  • i don't really understand how to make the snoring sound..

  • this is probably the best tutorial i've found so far. Thank you very much ! (it's probably because I'm cantonese as well so the english tutorials i've seen is just not too easy to grasp for me.

I can't roll my Rs yet still but when I do the "coughing up mucus sound" with my tongue up I can feel my tongue going up and down. Need more practice to get the hang of it I guess~

    Thank you!

  • I can do it, but I still sound like a tiger that wants to bite someone's head off.

  • @RFT15ify r u male or female?

  • @MrBlackmamba89 male, why? It has nothing to do with rolling r's does it?

  • @RFT15ify If you were a girl it would have been hot lol

  • @MrBlackmamba89 haha ikr, I will masturbait if a girl rawrs at me like a tiger ;)

  • this is very helpful!! Thanks VERY much for making and posting this!!

  • I have a sore throat from trying to copy too many of these fricking vids

  • First of all, why aren't you speaking English? Secondly, why are you whispering? Great speaking skills dude your reaching a really wide audience *sarcasm*

  • how can i close my throat when i want to roll my r? I always end up rolling from my throat

  • Ummmm I think you are letting the air out too much! im a native spanish speaker and your RR sounds too strong, too forced.Hope it helps

  • stop speaking spanish retard

  • Can someone pleeeeease upload an english voiceover version on this?

  • i did it!!!!!

  • 8 months ago, a guy said he will make an english version...

  • After just a few attempts, I can feel the air coming through with my tongue trilling. Not bluffing, but hey, it 's really helpful. Thank you, iceles409!

I'm going to practice more ;D

  • huh???? lol

how to seal up the month by ur tongue?

  • Comment removed

  • I can successfully vibrate the tongue, but i don't know how to apply the voice to pronouce "erre", only air comes out. how can i pronouce it?

  • I was able to get my tongue to vibrate using the snoring technique combined with the prescribed tongue position. But how do I get rid of the sound from the back of my mouth (the snoring sound)? My "R" doesn't sound clear because of this.

  • I am from hong kong also , well, i spent like 2 weeks to perfect this R coz I need to speak Russian, I can do it perfectly now. I learnt it from this video, but now i think this video go through too difficult. what he said about " RRR" in french like 1:50 which is useless.... but overall it is ok

  • I am from hong kong also , well, i spent like 2 weeks to perfect this R coz I need to speak Russian, I can do it perfectly now. I learnt it from this video, but now i think this video go through too difficult. what he said about " RRR" in french like 1:50 which is useless....

  • @icedgate wow thats cool i wish i can do that too. how did you learn to roll?

  • hey thanks so much! im from hong kong and i have been learning spanish for 7 months now. i had been having trouble doing it until now, i can sort of do it!

but i still can't do it when the rr's are in the middle, any tips? :)

  • anyone success?

  • Am trying to learn this so i can get them Mexican girls

  • like, I can make the sound, but my tongue is not vibrating...

  • I'm from H.K. too, and I only speak English and Chinese, I have to learn how to do this cuz I am in a band singing in Italian. After looking at your video, I can make the sound, but seems like I'm trilling my throat not my tongue... please help, thanks

  • while i roll10 times of the r, there are always 2 or 3 times i will fail to do. would practice make it perfect? btw it's a great tutorial video.

  • i know a little cantonese and im totally lost lol D: cause im from a portugese and cantonese speaking family >.<

  • can you just tell me how to relax my tougue?

  • Thank god i'm dutch.

  • easy to understand , i can do it . thz

  • thank you very much. I can do that now. ^^ THZ

  • awwww... you been here long time!!!! go now.... no more free egg rolls!!!!!

  • This might possibly be the most frustrating moment of my life!

  • i only heard ummmmmmm

  • i`m still not able to roll this r ....(i don`t have spanish lessons but already got a tutor who can roll the r and thinks it is sooooo easy that everbody should be able to roll it after a second :( )

  • i don't understand, you said we would just need to try a few times and it would be easy to pronounce the R sound, and i still can't get the tongue part-o- how to lock the air in? i still get gaps and the air slips through...

  • omg,,,this is so useful.. and now i finally can roll my rrss....thanks soo much!!!!

  • You make your tongue kind of pointy, and BARELY touching the roof of the mouth. I start by opening my mouth like I would normally speak, and start to close it as I start to speak- bringing tongue up at same time. Air goes between tongue and roof of mouth.

  • Thanks so much. You are the first one helping me to have a break-through! Can you also share how to pronounce: the word "reparieren" in German?

    Thanks

  • FUCK MY LIFE! I CAN'T DO THIS!

  • @AuddieDivine I'm kicking myself in the ass because I can't figure this shit out. Everyone says it's so easy, and explain it like it's cake. I've read and listened to every single "Roll your R's" video, and searched google as well. I get what you're supposed to do, but I can't do it. Also, how do you blow the air? Does it go on the sides of your tongue? Or does it just go on top? Is your tongue flat, or is it stressed a little making it more round? They don't explain it well enough.

  • @AuddieDivine me2...fuck my life

  • @AuddieDivine Don't feel bad I can't do it either! DX

  • Thanks for the comments, I'm going to make it subtitled in English soon. Or I would make an English version of the video. Which one would you prefer? Let me know by sending me messages or leaving comments here.

  • i find that lie down is easier to make it!

  • i got it too it's amazing!! but not as beautifully done as you and the spanish natives

  • This helpful but as a female, I feel it's a little harder to apply.

  • Ideqist, what makes it difficult?

  • @Ideqist How would that possibly make any difference at all whatsoever?

  • @Ideqist What does this have ANYTHING to do with gender?!?

  • Thank you so much!! I did it! amazing!

  • mucha gracias

  • Thank you very much Now I can do it!

  • Although I don't really understand Cantonese, but your diagrams are enough to FINALLY taught me how to roll my 'R'. Thank you sooooooooo much!!!

  • I have heard that there exists no R in Asian languages. Is this truth?

  • ImperatorDerGalaxis, well it actually does. You find this sound in Tagalog, some dialects in Indonesia, some varieties of Japanese, and many other languages.

  • Yes I second the suggestion for making an English one. Your explanations look very good and detailed, but I can't understand everything! Please!!!

  • Thanks for the comment! I'm going to make an English version soon ; )

  • please please please...translate this to english or spanishhh...?!?!??!?!

  • I'll make an English version soon, thanks for the comment ; )

  • Thank you so much for your clear explanation! I have finally realised that I can in fact do a very similar sound (I can do the throat sound already), just never knew where and how exactly to position the tongue! I'm thrrrrilled!

  • huh?

  • This is a very thorough explanation! I still can't pronounce the rr sound yet, but this makes most sense out of all other tips I read!

  • I can originally pronounce the french r (uvular trill) but have difficulty pronounce an italian r because when Im trying to make that sound im not sure if its uvular or alveolar. If im making an alveolar its hard not to have a uvular trill as well. How can I avoid this?

  • Maybe you can lower a bit your tongue root? But, good news for you, co-articulation of the uvular and alveolar trills exists in some varieties of German!

  • @iceles409 what do you mean with varieties of german do you mean different parts of germany where they speak strange german or the way how we say something or just diffrent words

  • @Feuerader Same here -_-

  • Could you make this in English please?

  • Thanks for the comment yes I'll make an English version very soon ; )

  • @iceles409 English please!

  • what the.. LOL...yea..its like ur swearing to me

  • i find it very useful!!!!

i can pronounce that RR sound after watching this video!!!

    Thanks a lot!!!!

  • i try this at least 1 year, but i can only speak car, gar, but another word all can't !!

    help me please!!!

  • i tried but failed...i'm learning latin although the teacher said if we couldn't do it it's ok...but i'm still trying...in my native languages cantonese and mandarin as well as english we don't have this sound...

  • Does anyone know how you can produce the snoring sound? I might have gotten it wrong. Cause it's really guttural and my tongue doesn't move.

  • this video is very helpful!!! thank you so much :)

  • love your video! it helps!

  • IS this Korean? or... Vietnamese or... Something, it doesn't sound Chinese or Japanese... I AM MORE INSTERESTED IN THE LANGUAGE HE IS SPEAKING MORE THEN THE ACTUAL ROLLING OF THE RR's XD AHAHAH Shame XD

  • Cantonese. Read the tite.

  • It's Cantonese and is the main dialect in Hong Kong

  • Read the description retard it says cantonese

  • He's speaking cantonese! Lol there are like to languages in china... Mandarin and cantonese! Im cantonese!

  • cantonese

  • cantonese, accent in canton and hong kong

  • It is the best instruction that I have ever heard. I still can't pronounce it yet, but I feel like I am on the right track. Thanks!

  • What?! Practice is needed? You gotta be kidding!

  • @tintin0929

actually it is not so-called "practice"

but we need time to find out the way to pronounce the sound

  • this is awesome.

but seriously...my stupid clumsy tougue cant follow... :(

  • Hope this helps. I am going to try it out now for my Spanish! Cheers!
