FOR ALL IDIOTS. Talks between Norton and Marvel broke down, and the role was instead offered to Mark Ruffalo, who accepted. Norton wrote a public response to the decision on his Facebook page, stating that he will not be appearing in The Avengers, but thanked Marvel Studios for considering letting him reprise the role.

Spiderman/Wolverine were licensed to Sony and Fox years ago, and cannot appear in a film made by Marvel/Disney. They werent even 'ORIGINAL" Avengers anyway.

@west93 Marvel/Disney purchased Spideys film rights from Sony last year. They won't be making his movie, but they'll be profiting from it. Sony only profits from ticket-sales now. That means Marvel can include Andrew Garfield/Peter Parker /Spider Man in their future films. They did the same thing with Wolverine, X-men origins Wolverine (Pretty bad for a Wolvie flick). Also, even though they aren't in the original lineup, they have appeared as Avengers, so it could happen in a sequel.
