Lastly it will much better to see BNSF Coal trains and piggyback trains running day and night over this former Seaboard Air Line line, AC4400's and SD-70MAC's as well as SD-70ACe's will be a most welocme sight, not mention the over 500 jobs this would create.
As for these bikers, go over to the interstate and stay off railroad property, It will happen RH !
Problem is for you bikers, the right of way is STILL in place. Chewing up pavement is nothing for a railroad to do. Homeowners will have to thank their real estate agents for NOT knowing this line was railbanked and could be reopened.
Any structure too close to the right of way would be purchased at market price and torn down and the owners can do nothing about that.
There is no link, this is an internal study, not for the public, I know of it because I am in the industry.
This is to see the cost etc of putting the rails back and running trains. If board approves, which is 100% likely this will be returned to RAIL service in 2013.
This line is railbanked and will be trails to RAILS,will be great to see BNSF AC4400's, SD-40-2's, CW44-9's and SD-70ACe's pulling trains not bikers and families, Enjoy while you can people,
Frankly, most of the Lance-wannabe cyclists that use SCT are complete jerks who don't want to share the path. You'd think they'd be more sensitive since they want cars to share the road...but no. The cyclist culture is generally a negative one.
As a recreational cyclist, I'll miss the SCT, but I won't miss the silly-looking Lance-wannabe cyclists.
Strange comment! BNSF would have to purchase the right of way back from GADOT. Since the right of way has been paved and numerous residential sub divisions have sprung up next to the trail it is unlikely GA EPD or the Federal Dept of Surface Transportation would approve heavy rail back on the old Silver Comet pathway. Can you provide a link to an BNSF authorized study? I don't think so since it does not exist. There will be no rail on the SCT in 2013.
rh30135, You know little or NOTHING about railroading. I know of this upcoming study from friends at HIGH levels at BNSF, this is a private company looking at the REAL possibility of putting the tracks back.
This right of way is RAILBANKED, meaning, that is this land can be put back into rail service, if purchased.
BNSF has the resources to do that, if the study tells them they can make money and it is efficent, they can buy the land,
relay the rail and run trains. See second comment...
Hey, nice "bike cam" efforts. I just tried that myself across France (couple of videos on my account here), but never tried talking to the camera while cycling.
Oh, you've gotta get off this flat stuff, the hills are what it's all about :) P.S. I enjoy your comments on other people's videos, you've given me a good few laughs.
lol, love that music! Love that trail. Been on it many, many times but you showed some footage that I haven't seen. I've been as far as Hiram but no further. Thanks for posting. You need a helmet cam! :) Marty
Tour de France yellow for your helmet... What a great place to ride. I'm goung to make it a goal. I guess I need to buy a bike mount for my car. I am glad you did this. - roc
I love this song. I wanted to do a video to it. How did you hold your camera so steadily whilst riding a bike? Thanks for the great travel log :-) Now I need a bike.

BNSF is conducting a study in 2010.
This is to see the cost etc of putting the rails back and running trains. If board approves, which is 100% likely this will be returned to RAIL service in 2013.

So?
No one owes cyclists a path.

Great video. I live in the Atlanta area but I've never been on the trail. Actually, I had no idea that it went all the way to Anniston. -Jim
