i bet half of you saying mma is gay, or boxing is gay, have never trained either. mma fighters are good at mma. its not gay. boxers are good at boxing. its not gay. mma fighters tend to (not always) win, because they have the advantage by taking it to the ground, and being able to use knees, elbows, and shin/feet. if you put the typical mma fighter into a boxing ring, he'd get destroyed. if you put the typical boxer into an mma bout, he'd get destroyed. there are exceptions to both cases.

There have been boxers who have KO'd UFC fighters, Kimbo has just started boxing and once he steps up his competition, he'll lose. Jon Olav Einemo is in UFC & he won the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship in 2003. I think BJ Penn was the last Jiu-Jitsu specialist to hold a UFC title & he just retired after winning only 1 out of his last 5 fights.

i bet half of you saying mma is gay, or boxing is gay, have never trained either. mma fighters are good at mma. its not gay. boxers are good at boxing. its not gay. mma fighters tend to (not always) win, because they have the advantage by taking it to the ground, and being able to use knees, elbows, and shin/feet. if you put the typical mma fighter into a boxing ring, he'd get destroyed. if you put the typical boxer into an mma bout, he'd get destroyed. there are exceptions to both cases.

Jon Olav Einemo is in UFC & he won the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship in 2003. I think BJ Penn was the last Jiu-Jitsu specialist to hold a UFC title & he just retired after winning only 1 out of his last 5 fights.

@baskyn544 they would try to avoid going to the ground but couldnt stop the takedown from people who have been wrestling their whole lives. Watch James Toney vs Randy Couture... or Royce Gracie vs Art Jimmerson. Stopping a takedown is a skill that takes allot of time to learn. And about the standing... absoulutely boxers have WAY better hands than mixed martial artists. However Mixed martial artists have low kicks. Type into youtube Muay Thai vs Boxing and see how those all go...

Sick and tired of boxers running their mouths over how mma is "gay" and I know the boxing crowd is gonna jump all over me now but mma is real fighting because it bring all aspects of fighting into one style, striking, wrestling, then you got your ground game I mean like joey rogan said boxing is only the art of punching nothing more, while mma is a more versityle art because there is so much more ways you can win a fight instead of a knockout punch.

@mcgelz the sport of mma/UFC is not an art. and it's not "real" fighting at all. there are rules to it therefore it is not real fighting. it is a sport. Nothing special about it, I happen to think it's stupid. and don't come saying the mma is a sport. No. MMA means "MIXED MARTIAL ARTS". It is not a martial art itself. I get tired of people saying "mma is the best fighting style evorrrrr!! it's not a fighting style its just crosstraining other martial arts with ones you know.

@baskyn544 The definition of a combative sport is a competitive contact sport where two combatants fight against each other using certain rules of engagement. It may be a contest with rules but they are really fighting, as far as know art in MMA? LOL it is full of art, it says it in the title mixed martial arts. It's a blend of arts, boxers can be masters of their craft but there is know master of fighting. The closest representative to the best overall fighter in combat sports is a MMA fighter.

I like B-Hop. I don't totally agree with his assessment of MMA but the dude is a beast and a legend. I will say this, I think it's easier to make it in the MMA than it is in boxing due to the fact that in the MMA you have a million styles to choose from and a lot more tools at your disposal. But in boxing it's all about two fists and twelve rounds...may the best man win.

Here some facts in November of 09. UFC did a show in Las Vegas. It showed 10,500 tickets. Thats a good number, but they had to give 500 tickets away. Wherelse that same month also in vega,s Pacquioa Vs Cotto sold out 15,000 tickets in a matter of days. On the subject of Pacman. He is the most googled And easily the most reconised pro-athlete in the world. UFC will never have that kind recognition.
