This is the finest performance of this piece I have ever heard--even with the flubs in the first movement. Pure poetry in sound, even with Mengelberg's tempo pulling. Sauer was what? 77 or 78 years old when this was recorded? Most pianists in their prime can't get around on this as well as he does. Thanks for posting
