the halloween trains I have been on (3) have been relatively harmless affairs. Mainly people were just shouting station names, drinking, and running between the cars at the station. Never saw any violence or vomit.
What created the recent hoopla was the site Japanprobe posting a notice for the 2007 one which caused some 2chan people to go crazy with faux-rage. This is why the cops were on the 2007 train at Shinjuku because one 2chan-er threaten to go there with a knife and another said he would blow away the trains.
Then those xenophobic nitwits had the gall to call us partiers "terrorists" when it was some of their own members who threatened to do acts of terrorism that were far worse than drinking.
I recall news stories and tv coverage mentioning how revellers were obstructing people getting on and off the trains - maybe I am getting this mixed up with the Osaka thing I know they do down there too. The way it's shown and described here, looks to me like nothing but good harmless fun.

my experience was that we always welcomed people onto our car and many of us shared our drinks and snacks with them. Some people just waited for the next train but some jumped in and joined the party. You can see my interview with a few on 2007 vid.

don't fool yourself i was on that train, it was full of tourists and few japanese people here and there. honestly people were just a drunk-off-their-asses and trashing the train. i even saw a harassed looking girl run off crying because 2 drunk guys were blocking her exit.

I was not aware of how this went on. This party goes on basically at a random time in the average Japanese persons life. Halloween is known there but not exactly celebrated by all. So now I understand what the "fuss" is, I never knew before. I suppose thats like if a person in the states got on a bus to go home and a their were a load of Mexican people screaming and playing Mariachi music haha. If you want to give a Halloween party at public spaces please give a party in Christian countries such as U.S. and Australia. Japan is shinto country. Transport police should arrest them on the spot on suspicion of violation of the nuisance prevention ordinance.

Most of us are getting angry about such a disturbance. In Japan, being silent is usual manners in public trains. So, it is really ridiculous to make such a fuss and to trouble people in a train. The foreigners, especially white guys, must look down on us asians. I know they came to Japan to be looking for attention and to have a sense of their superiority here because most of them are LOSERS who are socially ignored in their countries. Perhaps all the media attention has made it attract more trouble makers in recent years - where people would be blocked from getting on or off trains. That's not cool, but done in the right spirit, I don't see this being any worse than the drunks who ride the yamanote sen everyday (and the hordes that ride them home on Fridays, spewing along the way inside the train), and who buy their alcohol in the kiosks on the platform.
The is not the horror flick some imply it is. Good vid!

the halloween trains I have been on (3) have been relatively harmless affairs. Mainly people were just shouting station names, drinking, and running between the cars at the station. Never saw any violence or vomit.

What created the recent hoopla was the site Japanprobe posting a notice for the 2007 one which caused some 2chan people to go crazy with faux-rage. This is why the cops were on the 2007 train at Shinjuku because one 2chan-er threaten to go there with a knife and another said he would blow away the trains.
Then those xenophobic nitwits had the gall to call us partiers "terrorists" when it was some of their own members who threatened to do acts of terrorism that were far worse than drinking.

I recall news stories and tv coverage mentioning how revellers were obstructing people getting on and off the trains - maybe I am getting this mixed up with the Osaka thing I know they do down there too. The way it's shown and described here, looks to me like nothing but good harmless fun.

I only know of them by reputation and word of mouth by both foriegners and Japanese. Several students have told me that they're crazy and malicious. I think a number of them are Akihabara-slasher types just ready to go off.

my experience was that we always welcomed people onto our car and many of us shared our drinks and snacks with them. Some people just waited for the next train but some jumped in and joined the party. You can see my interview with a few on 2007 vid.
