'Get Set' is finally getting an official release as it features as an exclusive bonus track on preorders for the iTunes release of 'Reconnected Live'. The previously unreleased and much sought after 'Get Set, was originally recorded in 1983 and used as the theme to the BBC Children's TV show 'Get Set For Summer'.

maybe it wasnt released because the beat is the same as just cant get enough by depeche mode. i've heard thats the reason.. and if you listen for it you can hear the beat im talking about..

There must be something about the word "set" that turns off those at Mute who decide what songs to include in an album or a collection. At the time of Vince's Depeche Mode, the band played a beautiful tune titled "T.V. Set," which was never included in the Speak and Spell album and was practically forgotten by most.

Mute is frustrating me. It seems now they are having trouble with the US Box set release because of Yazoo being on the art work.

Didn't they think about what happened over 25 years ago with Upstairs at Erics.

"Get Set" is a brilliant song and I can't believe they won't release it. Not even on itunes.

I've ot good qualtiy of this (and also the "original" Dont Go which did not have the instrumental bit before "can't stop now" and had a better "phased" sequencer running in the background (a bit like "Supernature by Cerrone). Anyway, have both but they're on betamax vid. If I could only convert...

You can convert via specialist video companies but costs a fortune and being of a similar age group dont think its worth waiting a month for them to stop laughing at the mention of the word betamax ive left loads of early 80s stuff on a few of those tapes easier to see if the much talked about reunion / tour for autumn 08 does happen and buy the dvd.

Yup, it was specially written for Get Set For Summer (a short-lived kids' programme which came between Swap Shop and Saturday Superstore). It was never officially recorded and is still a rarity. Great to hear it in its entirity! Yazoo reunite this June for a short tour. I can't wait!

Yazoo deff performed this song live along with "Only You" on the first Get Set For Summer on the BBC saturday mornings show for us kids / teens. Someone must have the very rare footage of it.

Vince Clarke was the core writer for Depche before leaving. His void was filled by Alan Wilder, who then created most of the sonic textures of Depeche Mode. Martin might have written the songs, but Wilder made them sound good...

It was the theme music for BBC TV show "Get Set For Summer" and (sadly) does not appear on any album. They actually performed it live on the show and I would love to see if anyone actually had a video of it, just to see it again after all these years. Always loved Yazoo!
