maybe it wasnt released because the beat is the same as just cant get enough by depeche mode. i've heard thats the reason.. and if you listen for it you can hear the beat im talking about..
My fully restored version of Get Set, now in hi-fi stereo (well, sort of) can now be heard on my channel! Look for Get Set (Matt Pop's Restoration Mix). It is the closest you'll get to hearing the full song, untill Mute wakes up and releases the thing! Matt Pop.
Thanks mate - just found your mix & downloaded it. It's excellent. I do have the original video of it from the 'Get Set For Summer' show summer along with a very early version of Don't Go before they released it on video somwhere. Is there any chance of you creating a link to download as well? Cheers Chris
@whiteherald Sounds great! You can create the link yourself easily by uploading the files to sendspace / rapidshare / yousendit. You may also give me the download links if you want me to put them in the credits for my Restoration Mix.

Hey Matt - I was actually wondering if you could create a link to download your fantastic versions of Softly Over & Winter Kills by Yazoo - the same way as you did with Get Set. Cheers Chris
VINCE CLARKE has arranged and produced the title track for Robert Marlow's forthcoming album 'Inside/Outside' and has also remixed one of the tracks, 'Home'. The album will feature ten tracks and two remixes. MARLOW has also announced a gig at Nottingham's Junktion 7 on November 14th where he will be supported by up and coming synth acts Electraset and One Moment. The show will also be the launch of the much anticipated 'Trans Continental Electronica' compilation of contemporary electro acts
There must be something about the word "set" that turns off those at Mute who decide what songs to include in an album or a collection. At the time of Vince's Depeche Mode, the band played a beautiful tune titled "T.V. Set," which was never included in the Speak and Spell album and was practically forgotten by most.
God this brings memoeys from the tv show in the early 80's was in the audience a few times 1981 thru to 83 presnters were peter powell mark curry & debbie appleby done from BBC Manchester good times thks for the music it's pity poor quality it;s ok through thks again
I've ot good qualtiy of this (and also the "original" Dont Go which did not have the instrumental bit before "can't stop now" and had a better "phased" sequencer running in the background (a bit like "Supernature by Cerrone). Anyway, have both but they're on betamax vid. If I could only convert...
You can convert via specialist video companies but costs a fortune and being of a similar age group dont think its worth waiting a month for them to stop laughing at the mention of the word betamax ive left loads of early 80s stuff on a few of those tapes easier to see if the much talked about reunion / tour for autumn 08 does happen and buy the dvd.
Yup, it was specially written for Get Set For Summer (a short-lived kids' programme which came between Swap Shop and Saturday Superstore). It was never officially recorded and is still a rarity. Great to hear it in its entirity! Yazoo reunite this June for a short tour. I can't wait!
Yazoo deff performed this song live along with "Only You" on the first Get Set For Summer on the BBC saturday mornings show for us kids / teens. Someone must have the very rare footage of it.
Vince Clarke was the core writer for Depche before leaving. His void was filled by Alan Wilder, who then created most of the sonic textures of Depeche Mode. Martin might have written the songs, but Wilder made them sound good...
It may appear on the new Yazoo remasters due for release by Mute in 2008. Should be a fair amount of Yazoo activity (there are even rumours of a short reunion).
First time id ever heard this song was when they palyed it on get set for summer and seeing all the success that followed could never understand why it wasnt a single.
Oh my God - I WANT IT! I thought I had every bloody note they ever recorded on cd, and now I have to see this?? And it is bloody brilliant! What a little rush of energy this track is, such fun, such pure pop magic! Is anyone at Mute listening? EIGHTIES FANS WANT THIS!
One of my all time favorite bands...reminds me of being a teen again whenever I listen to them, and dressing up, dyed hair, and going to the clubs... It's cool to hear something I never heard from them before!
It was the theme music for BBC TV show "Get Set For Summer" and (sadly) does not appear on any album. They actually performed it live on the show and I would love to see if anyone actually had a video of it, just to see it again after all these years. Always loved Yazoo!
I really like Vince Clarke's hairstyle.

Mute is frustrating me. It seems now they are having trouble with the US Box set release because of Yazoo being on the art work.
Didn't they think about what happened over 25 years ago with Upstairs at Erics.
"Get Set" is a brilliant song and I can't believe they won't release it. Not even on itunes.

It actually does sound like early Depeche.
Gore is a fantastic songwriter but Vince put him on the road to stardom.
Anyway it's great to see he two of them appear to be on good terms now
