  • A Yamato class battleship in space...

    MAKE IT HAPPEN NASA!!!

  • @Asiats1 What? This is the original... from 1974... what are you talking about?

Almost every release was a huge success, the 2010 version did better in Japan than harry potter.

  • @Asiats1 bombed as in had no competition at all and even topped the Deathly Hallows II in Japan?

Because The new movie Is awesome!

  • they should remake this... i can't stand the ancient style -_-... it was made 18 years before i was born... actually they just need to make a GOOD modern space anime.

  • @Serevn there are som good ones and also moderns try with Macross Frontier Series

  • @Serevn

there is a remake of this named Space Battleship Yamato 2010. if you haven't seen it, look at my channel.

  • 6:36 and here i was thinking men in black 2 was original

  • 6:45 He went trough?

  • In Starblazer, Wildstar's bro makes a heroic stand so Avatar can escape. In the original, he basically calls Avatar as coward for not fighting. Love it.

  • Classic. I've been meaning to watch this for years. Nice look back into a time where sci-fi was more to the imagination then trying to make it seem realistic

  • Shows how hand drawn talent is better than most stuff nowadays. This is better written than the entire BSG series...

  • 07:15 a dildo D:

  • what language is this in?

  • @nexivdr oh my god i can't believe how illiterate some american people are. you really have no fucking clue of the world outside of the states (or inside as well in this case). it's the ONE AND ONLY country where all this great pieces of art and goods come from. and that distinctive style of art is self-explanatory. it's the language of that same country, you wouldn't even find on the world map. hint: sony is from that country. the 'Dramatic Chipmunk" video as well. even rock-paper-scissors

  • @DarthChrisB are you going to cry? seems you have some serious issues and just begging to start shit with someone. well I believe you picked the wrong person you little prick.

Are you a tough guy ? or just a big fat vagina ? WATCH OUT YOUTUBE. DarthChrisB is on the attack!!

btw nice nickname. How does Lord Vader's cum taste?

  • @nexivdr ridiculous try and fail. come up with something better next time.

  • @DarthChrisB fail? are you 10 ? grow up pal and get a life. internet tough guy

  • @DarthChrisB also dumbass its not "Dramatic Chipmunk" its "Dramatic Prairie Dog" you dumb fuck. next time you try to be a tough guy at least get your facts straight.

  • @nexivdr fucking idiot i know that it's a prairie dog but the video is called "Dramatic Chipmunk" motherfucker. get your facts straight!

  • 5:28 It is like the ejection of the capsule from Hayabusa which was reentering the earth on 13 June 2010.

  • lol wtf... tell them idiots... sir idiots? yes idiots

  • lol its like star trek meets pearl harbor

  • MY NAME IS ISKANDAR! :p

  • 6:46 - Walhack HAAAAX! :D

  • 3:51 haxxxxxxxxxxx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 3:54 "Stupid Hackers."

  • This so Robotech kind of animation.

  • @Battleship009 You mean Macross and SBY started long before that series and had better animation quality.

  • YAMATO !!! man that remind me of 1980s

  • Never watched this before, Thank You!!!!

  • O

    M

    G

I am tearing up in nostalgia right now

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!

  • Much better without Kimura Takuya.

  • My gods... She's a work of art. Simply stunning ^^

  • cant wait to see the movie

  • Yamato is never broadcasted in my country, I know it from Starblazer.

    Thanks for upload.

I think Yamato is more classic than Starblzer.

  • @underdogjo Starblazer! I watched that in 1982!

  • Space battleship Arizona, Space Battleship Bismarck and Space Battleship King George V... That would be pretty cool

  • Cyan gas?? The Hell is cyan gas??

  • @RedDawnJensen its a mix of teal and white gas

  • Pretty good sound effects for 1974.

  • Space battleship Yamato, the West would NEVER bring back an enemy ship of that size they would never allow it it would be for the US to do this it would be the Arizona at pearl harbour that they would bring back I just know it, or have the Montana Class battleship, it was never built but it was big

  • @JBL9996666

Or the poor old Hood, if us brits have our say :(

  • RIP Yoshinobu Nishizaki.

Japan’s Asahi news service has filed a brief report stating that Yoshinobu Nishizaki has passed away after reportedly falling overboard from a ship sailing near the Chichijima islands in Ogasawara, Tokyo around 12:30PM local time. Nishizaki was best known for producing the Space Battleship Yamato series, known in the US as Star Blazers

  • @pinoi78 Ironically the ship he fell off was named Yamato.

  • I loved Star Blazers in the 70"s. I ran home from school to see it, or it came on early morning. I fell in love with Robotech and anime in the 80's because of it. I have wanted to see the original because I enjoy the real anime now not the edited version for western audiences. I am looking forward to this series again in the original (but with subtitles)

  • bakame? excalibur?????soul eater??watashiwa densetsu......

  • What? She's dead? Damn, and she was hot too...

  • 3:00

    Tell them: "Idiots!" EPIC WIN

Of course its hard to translate the exact meanning from Japanese, but... EPIC anyway.

  • Yamato + Enterprises A-E = One Yamato and Free scrap metal.

  • THANK YOU for sharing this!!!!!

  • ★Star Wars made in 1977 copyed the story from The Hidden Fortress made in 1958 Japan.

★And Star Wars copyed scenes from the Star Blazers(=Space Battleship Yamato) made in 1974 Japan.

  • @SamuraiTogo Like what scenes? Im curious to know.

  • @whatewer23

according to Wikipedia, George Lucas acknowledges that the plot and characters in the 1958 Japanese film The Hidden Fortress were a major inspiration. if you have an interest in it, look at my favorites (George Lucas talks about the influence of samurai movies on Star Wars).

  • @SamuraiTogo SW took a lot of things from a lot of sources. Lucas himself admitted that his most important inspiration was, along with Kurosawa´s movie, Flash Gordon serial (just look at the rolling text intro and a lot of the designs!), and the french comic Valerian (Han Solo and the Millenium Falcon are almost exact copies of Valerian and his ship, not to speak about the design of alien species)

  • Anyway, does it go Season 1, Season 2, A New Voyage, Be Forever Yamato, then Final Yamato?

  • @shawdawg28 should go from season 1 to a second movie "Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato".

this movie was the highest box office revenue until brorkn by hayao miyazaki's"Kiki's Delivery Service "in1989. mega hit in japan

  • @ppp1000p I thought a lot of people disliked the second movie, cause of all the death and destruction.

I've seen New Journy, Be Forever, and Final from Netflix, but not any of the seasons fully.

  • @ppp1000p High box office revenue doesn't indicate quality.

While I did enjoy the movie, the third act just felt needlessly brutal and the ending is downright anticlimactic; the TV series version of the story at least brought more satisfying closure to the story.

  • Is it better to watch this, or Space Battleship Yamato, the movie? I know the movie is a compilation of the first season, but was just curious if watching the whole season is better for explaining some things?

  • @shawdawg28 Yes, watch the whole series — the movie is far too condensed.

  • @August138 I watched this whole series already. :) And Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato....very sad, moving movie. And am now watching Season 2.

  • i think they did this for the honor of battleship yamato in 1940's world war 2

  • It's a shame that Cartoon network wont run this....they'll run Speed Racer but not Star Blazers.....

  • I remember how this left an image upon me- I remember how it was about story- in 1978 it was unique. I remember the cape over one shoulder was cool. A group of kids in my group must have seen the same episodes . We would have accepted any hard-core thing you presented.

  • @Arisadesu I found a better version of the video. Check it out!!!

    watch?v=PoHXxWg7pw4

  • I made a video that explains "HAYABUSA" by using "Battleship YAMATO."

    Please check it.

  • uku senkan yamato

  • Oh, my! What happened to Earth?!

  • I love the retro japanese cartoons. Always with that "brave new world" sort of feel about them.

epic, in a way that the japanese have always been...

  • Starblazers

  • It called Star Blazers in Enlish.

  • News... friends...You can see the movie of this anime in dicember 2010...

  • It only came to NZ on VHS in the early 80's, but it was unknown as all anime was at the time. But by chance I came across it while in college, and watched it many times wondering if I would see this and more in the coming months? But it never came out!! But now years later I get the chance to see it again!! Thanks

  • Isn't this 'Starblazers'????????

  • It became Starblazers when it was dubbed in English.

  • amazing cartoon , used to watch it when i was young , wow memories , ahh,,,

  • Four years before GALACTICA, too!

  • before the original series?

  • Original Galactica - 1978

    Star Wars - 1977

    Space Battleship Yamato - 1974

  • Star Trek - 1966

  • @KronnangDunn star trek - 1961

  • @plasticnapoleon22 Star Trek is from 1966...

  • @KronnangDunn Funny story, It's actually thanks to the creator of Yamato that BSG got off the ground after getting sued by Lucas

  • @KashiHyuga Perhaps...

  • @KronnangDunn Star Trek - 1966 :P

  • @greebothecat LOL ;P

  • @greebothecat Uchu Daisenso -1959

  • @CaptainNomura proves the point :)

  • @KronnangDunn

    Star Trek - 1966

  • Takuya Kimura & Erika Sawajiri

  • Erika Sawajiri is out and Meisa Kuroki is in.

  • HAHAHA I love how it explodes out of the earth with no explaination for episode one! I need this guy to sing the ballad of MY life!

  • @revoltingmexican

With all the money you save on Geico Insuarance you can afford to hire him and have him follow you around singing the ballad of your life. ;o)

  • Next month they are going to start filming the live action version.

  • Excelent. I can't wait to see the first trailer!!!

  • The first teaser trailer is out for the live-action movie from Toho Studios ^_^

  • That movie is going to suck, like everything else that's being made into a movie adaption.

  • They started shooting on October 17, 2009.

  • Yeah i know comented this like three montsh ago... hey wait?

  • Those first few scenes really had a cinematic quality to them. A real cut above the anime of the time.

  • "Idiots!" Well done, Captain. Many a hero of ages past would approve of such a response to a surrender summons... >;D

  • LOL SPACE KNOTS!?

  • now as the i guess last fleet battle with earth forces, how com the , i think smaller earth ships which seemed to be a torpedo destroyers didn't all breake and attack? next why didn't the battleship fire all five gun turrets at one gamilan to get through the enemy armour

i wonder if the battleship had fired all five turrets at that one gamilan could they have destroyed it???

  • I think the point was to just show Earth's inferior technology....

  • Did the same person who made this make Gallaxy Express 999?

  • Yep. Leiji Matsumoto also did Captain Harlock.

  • Captain Harlock is actually Mamoru Kodai in his world, I heard.

  • I was 5 years old in 1978 when it began airing in the U.S. I cried when I missed the first episode. Still the best kids cartoon series ever made, I think. I watched them all while getting ready for school. Ahh, fond memories.

  • コピーされてますよ

  • Gotta love the theme song

  • ok then. listen to this ⇒ BS永遠の音楽 ささきいさお 宇宙戦艦ヤマト

  • This is Japanese ORIJINAL Yamato

    It is the best here.

  • Many of ovverseas fans know that Yamato means ancient Japan. Do they know that Kodai means ancient times? Gamilans are modern and efficient. Yamato and its crew are ancient and inefficient.

  • Man I loved this show so much I actually learned the Song in Japanese...

  • ★George Lucus steal several parts from

    Space Battleship Yamato 1974

    in Star Wars 1977.

Especially Hadoho is same idea with

Yamato 1974 which is used in destoying Death Star in Star Wars 1977.

  • Rubbish. Lucas is in fact a huge fan of Akira Kurosawa, and took inspiration from his films, as well as actual human mythologies from more than one culture, as Lucas was also an admirer of the scholar Joseph Campbell.

  • Lucas took his influence from a number of sources... he wasn't aware of Kurosawa until he attended University...

  • Note that this was produced in 1974, and yet Mars is depicted with a reddish sky - two years before Viking 1 sent its first photos back to Earth, when everyone still thought the Martian sky was dark blue!

  • Everyone but the Japanese.

  • Mars is called "Fire Planet" in Asia. Not a difficult imagination.

  • I Love these retro action shows. And Japanese shows always dared to be epic. They don't make them like that in the West. to bad.

  • Yeah, also i love it how gore these japanese violent can sometimes be.

In western cartoons "bad guys" only get knocked down but dont die, while in japan, well first of all its rarely just a "bad guy" the person just has motives to do the opposite the main character has, and also people die in anime.

  • @seriousdudeserious Amen to that dude...

  • Isao Sasaki still sings this theme, and comparing his present singing to the opening of this episode.... he's still got it.

  • The Japanese thought it was better to change the name of the show to Starblazers since there perceived resentment to using the ships original name because WW2. In the US show they called it the Argo

  • uchuu senkan yamato is not starblazers. japanese didnt think this animation export outside japan. you dont need to watch it if u mind

  • "Yamato" is also used in startrek.

    its no probrem

  • The name "Starblazers" is not set by Japanese. The japanese simply called this anime as "Space Battleship Yamato" (Meaning) or "uchuu senkan yamato" (Japanese Pronounciation)

  • When it was dubbed the title was changed to STAR BLAZERS

  • The US producers, Sunbow Productions/Claster Entertainment, changed the title and names--not Academy/Yoshinobu Nishizaki (the Japanese creator/producer).

  • Yamato was one of the first shows that introduced me to Anime in the early 80's.

  • I remember watching this in the 1970's, only it was called "Starblazers." Ah, the days when English dubbing also meant changing the name of the show, the characters, and screwing around with the story-lines and plot. Those were the days...NOT!

  • oh man!!! I really miss this show!!! every time I hear the opening theme it really brings tears in my eyes and I had an urge to salute. Leiji Matsumoto is a legend in his own right.

  • i miss this show....brings back a lot of childhood memories

  • Wow. Controls look so Star Trek-ish.

  • BAKA=stupid

  • arigato for your posting.

    Iam japanese.

I sink BAKAME is farst near meens at・・・

    「fuck you!」

  • oh well that explains.

  • Don't believe him. "Bakame" means "You are as foolish as horses and deers." Japanese don't use such shameful word so commonly.

  • I mean the F-word, not "bakame".

  • does any one know how many episodes/seasons this show had...i wanna try and watch them all from first episode to last

  • There's like 3 seasons. The better ones are the first (plot) and the second (better designs). The third one isn't that popular or good it seems. I believe each season had 26 episodes...

  • BAKAME

  • The opening song has the 2nd verse:

    "Farewell Earth and our beloved,

    from Space Battleship Yamato!

We are the battling men entrusted with a mission of saving the Earth.

    Romance is ablaze.

    This mission must be accomplished;

    they are couting on us.

    Leaving the Milky Way,

we journey all the way to Iscandar -

    Space Battleship Yamato."

  • The 6th line again -

    "they are counting on us."

Good old anime theme songs are a lot like national anthem - the wonderful 2nd - 4th verses almost never get hearing.

Guys, get to know the unsung verses of your national anthem; you'll learn more about your nation and her heritage. (Not applicable to Japanese one as I hear it has only a single verse.)

  • there it is japanse version of star trek ^^ i love this show very much ^^

  • Great! always wondered what this show was like! Like an early Macross with a bit of Herlock as well:) LOVE IT!

  • i dont think id be smart to name your spaceship after a ship that was destroyed in WWII

  • you fuck off

  • space battleship yamato have NO connection with WW2. are you stupid?

  • except for the name and the fact that its a huge batlleship. Why dont you go look it up?

  • if you hate this title of anime. you better only watch "star Blazers " which are really sucks export version.

  • I never said I hated the title of the anime. In fact i love how the named it that cause the battleship in WWII was amazing. Its just probably wouldnt be the best idea to name a space battleship after a real battleship that was also thought to be near invincible, but was destroyed.

  • "Yamato" means "Japan." Hope it solves the mystery.

  • we werent talking about what it means

  • well.i might misunderstood what u mean. sorry.

but space battleship yamato is the spaceship for save the mother earth. 戦艦大和(battleship yamato)is just weapon to kill people.thats all what i mean

  • nah its all good i was just pointing out the name. thats all.

  • There are zillions of things which include the word "Yamato" in Japan, although not as common as finding the word "America" in USA.

  • One word: classic.

  • "This is Earth command ship 225. Idiots. Over.!"

    Hilarious!

  • I heard American really said that to Germans during the WW.

  • Actually they said: "Nuts!"

As in "Nuts to you!" which is an American colloquialism similar to "Get lost" or "Forget you". Essentially announcing that you do not care what they say or do you are going to do things your way.

I suppose "Nuts" might also have meant "You're nuts!" Saying that means you think the other person is insane. So maybe the Americans meant "You're insane to think we'll surrender"

The scene in Space Battleship Yamato was obviously intended to evoke this event.
