"Disney's A Christmas Carol" Movie Review

Marley's scene was instantly dumbed down when his jaw came loose. I understand they were trying to add a little bit of comedy relief to soften a somewhat jarring scene, but to me it seemed distracting and out of place.

I think this movie would scare the hell out of five year olds! I was watching it the other day with surround sound and some parts were really creepy

I went to watch it, and when the ghost of Christmas yet to come's horse turned toward the screen...I almost peed my pants! haha

@TechnoRaver94 Well, if you mean the "scary" part, The spirit finally reveals to Scrooge two emaciated children, subhuman in appearance and loathsome to behold, clinging to his robes, and names the boy as Ignorance and the girl as Want.

My little brother was scared of the ghost of Christmas future, then again I did jump a bit when the ghost came outta nowhere!!

People who think this movie was creepy need to read the ACTUAL book by Charles Dickens. The story was meant for adults, and it IS a ghost story, and the imagery is quite vivid. So, if you ever expect for a TRUE retelling of A Christmas Carol to be a fully warm and fuzzy classic Christmas story, you will be quite disappointed.

3D is just a fad to sell you another TV and when everyone realizes how average the technology is they will make a small advancement in 3D technology to sell you another tv.

I saw this movie for free with my church group. I thought oh this will be a nice little classic but no. THis movie was really creepy, although glad that they didn't make it babyish. Great review and 5*! ;)

@mdelar Not just the ghost of Christmas present, Jacob Marley! He was thee scariest one, and lets not forget Ignorance and Want! I'm still getting chills, and I haven't seen it in a little less than a year!

The part with Want & Ignorance totally reminded me of Silent Hill, especially when Want turned into a crazy lady and was put in a strait jacket and strapped to a chair and dragged into the shadows.... Silent Hill would totally use that.

to conclude the only problem I have is due to my sad worsening hearing loss I could  not distinguish what exactly was being "said" during the movie but it came. Excited to get it on DVD maybe July of next year watch read and understand. My honey was disapponted to learn the theater did not have it in 3D made no difference to us!!! Uhm Disney is a bit too "wholesome" and family for me but i dont hate Disney.

JUST got back with my honey from seeing the movie. SO good I'm embarased to admit I kept jerking tears!! It has its critics  and I cant understand why, the critics are the scrooges in my opinion. I hope this production becomes as classic as wonderful life, miracle on 34th, and polar (or as i call it bipolar )express.

Good review! We kidded about the Ghost of Christmas Past being the Ghost of Asthma Past. That voice was so irritating! You're right, the movie had some truly terrifying stuff in it. The scene where the Ghost of Christmas Present dies was really creepy. We heard kids crying in the theater last night when we saw it. It was amazing in 3D on an IMAX screen.

The snowflakes were especially interesting. It really felt like you were watching them fall. Overall they made great use of a shallow depth of field in key scenes. I really enjoyed it.
