@cjucoder You're very lucky. Most people that cook from frozen are instantly killed when they eat that kind of food. My neighbors family was wiped out in a slow cooking accident a few weeks back.
frozen things take longer to cook in the crock-pot - yes.... but "can promote the growth of harmful bacteria? rubbish!
Everything you put in a crock-pot will COOK... that means a high enough temperature to kill every micro organism... Unless you plan to ad to your stew extremofile bacteria that grow on the bottom of the ocean around those Hydrothermal vents...
Mmmmm...poultry at 140 degrees......shigellosis, e coli, salmonella, hepatitis A, listeria, campylobacter, cryptosporidia....mmmmm.....but the chicken was juicy, no?
@5446augusta I agree this is a horrendous video, but the point she made was just to get it to 140 within for hours (she says at "least" 4 hours, but I think she meant at "most"...then again...) But most recipes call for 8+ hours of cooking, so there's still time to get the chicken up to temp after that.
Thought she was going to cut her hand off! Looked like she must be blindfolded and just feeling her way around as she cut the chicken. Then she takes the lid off to stir it and can't even put the lid back on properly. Cooking for Dummies...or is it..By Dummies!

You can use raw poultry or beef but should cook a minimum of 3 hours on high heat. Combinations of raw meat and fresh vegetables should cook at least 4 hours on high heat.
Safety tip! That crock pot is not on the table/counter properly for most of this video, that is dangerous, someone could be scalded, especially a little person who may run by and catch the electrical cord.
You can use frozen veggies, just thaw them in a sink of cold water first.
@larryv75xxx I can help. Very short prep time. Tender meat and tasty veggies all cooked while you were away doing other things. The smell of the food is also fantastic. Or you can always pop a hot pocket into the microwave and eat some junk food. Or take two pieces of bread and place a slice of deli meat in between, that's pretty quick. It's all about fast! Don't want slow, everything needs to be fast. Boss man needs his riches. Turn off your tv larry. And turn on your brain.

I start from frozen all the time in a slow cooker, both meat and veg. Works fine for me.

"When the container or lid are hot"? Shouldn't it be, "When the container or lid is hot'?
Someone please get back to me on this. Thanks
snowmountain2007 8 months ago
@snowmountain2007 no, because the lid and the container are two different separate things.
