Does anyone remember a TV show - can only place to the latter half of the 70's - about an inventor of strange gadgets, his side kicks, who went around in a hot air balloon? I can only assume it was a mid season replacement that itself got killed because I only remember a half dozen to ten episodes. More narrowly I'd say circa 1977 to 1979. I remembering loving it as a kid and disappointed when it was suddenly yanked.
Man, I don't remember these shows being this stupid when I was younger....I guess there is something to be said for seeing the world through the eyes of a child. Thanks for posting...lots of nostalgia.
I used to LOVE Salvage One! They went to the moon to get all the junk there because most of the stuff was made of gold.Plus Carter Country "Handle it! Handle it!"
Harris and Co wasn't given a fair shot to gain an audience. I really liked that show. I used to love the white shadow and I never heard of the last program 13 Queens blvd. This is my first time ever seeing it.
Thanks for posting the 13 Queens Blvd opening. This must be the pilot as it includes the long version of the opening theme. I forgot that Louise Williams was in this. She starred in so many sitcoms and pilots that never went anywhere. She was also on Three's Company one time.
This is absolutely incredible that you have every show that aired in 79 some I do recall and a huge bunch I do not....I was only 3 and 4 that yr...turned 4 in October of 79
@clinch44 The Ropers lived next door to Jeffery Tambor and his hot wife and they had a little boy, the kid liked Stanley Roper but Tambor despised them for some reason, hilarity supposedly ensued. The Three's Company cast had token guest spots.
Freaking COOL - I noticed that at around 7:54, ,7:55 during the theme for the Ropers there is a little tiny piece of the tune from the Three's Company Song thrown in; it's the part with the bells that copies when they sing "down on our rendez-vous" - it's the same tune but on bells or chimes. Really weird!
I'm the hugest Three's Company fan ever and while the Roper's wasn't nearly as good, it was still awesome, with greats like Fell and Lindley and Tambor - but I wanted to punch that brat, 2
OK let me get this straight...a garbage man builds a rocket ship, develops a crew, flies to the moon to retrieve the junk on the moon, bring it back to Earth and sell it???......LMAOOO!!! Those creators must've been smoking some serious stuff back then!
@ReeseMac the pilot was actually pretty good, there was a lot of chatter about it the next day at school. the problem was it was only a one shot concept, after that they had no idea what story lines to come up with, it got really bad really quick, i mean how many places can you go with a rocket?
What was funnier was in syndies, it was "Three's Company's Friends The Ropers." I think Three's Company is pretty cool guy, his landlord thinks he's gay and doesn't afraid of anything :-)
I think in 1979 ABC was in last for ratings. I know I was watching mostly NBC shows back then. I also did not know about Salvage 1. I also never heard of 13 Queens Blvd or Harris and Company. I saw the original movie How The West Was One but had no idea they made a series from it. Oh well. Carter Country was one of my favorites though.
ABC was very firmly in first place for most of 1979, only starting to fade late in the year. NBC was in last place and struggling all that year (and the next, and the next...). The Peacock introduced a few successful shows in '79, but a LOT more were bombs.
ABC had the big shows like Happy Days , Laverne & Shirley , and Three's Company back then so , yeah , the end of the 70's was an end of a major era for ABC.

Does anyone have clips from Carter Country of the mayor saying, "Handle it, handle it"?

"The White Shadow" was an awesome show. It was produced by the late Bruce Paltrow, Gwyneth's dad.
"Dukes of Hazzard" had the best country theme song ever!

@ChavoMysterio Yes it is Capt Janeway. It was either before or after she was Mary Ryan on 'Ryan's Hope."

Oh, wow, I remember The White Shadow - I loved that program!
TV isn't what it used to be, no, but they had plenty of turkeys on just the same - Salvage 1 is a perfect example of that, heh.

I had forgotton how awful television was back then because there were also a lot of great shows.
But now I remember why (before we had cable) the television remained off for so many hours.
