  • See him smiling at you trough the screen AaAaAh genius :D

  • We will be singing this in choir at some point :) So excited for it!

  • i can play this on flute! one of my fav timeless classic music :))

  • @Overrun9 there are some great books out there, study hard learn your EGBDF and FACE then get an app for the phone to learn piano, sight reading music "Score Master" is good its like a game, the music scrolls along and you have to play the right notes to the music :)

  • @digitalmonkeynuts :) i play piano already :D been playing for about 8 years but i mean to play at that standard is my dream :) luckily im only like 16 so i got a long time to improve :p

  • Sadly the jazz age is over only because we can't autotune tenor saxes.

  • @cherrycoke119 You can autotune anything that plays one pitch at a time. In fact the latest version of melodyne allows you to do polyphonic pitch editing as well!

  • @PQleyR malodyne poliphonic pitch editing. Great. please show me some good work done on a large choir and a string section.

  • ...how in the fuck did we get from this to justin bieber and rebecca black?!?!?!?

  • @fuzzybear718 because youtube is always trying to offer better music/videos when you are watching something.

  • @fuzzybear718 *shrugs* Just because everything has to evolve doesn't mean its always gonna turn out good. Sad to say. But think about it. This is genius at one of its highest potentials. At least it happened instead of not at all.

  • @fuzzybear718 because in those days grown ups are the one who use to be the majority who bought records. Now the music industry caters to teenagers who don't know the first thing about good music.

  • @maxwolfeee hmmm you make a very good point

  • @fuzzybear718 I´m not sure, but I think something went wrong in the 80´s

  • @fuzzybear718 I don't know. but if that history repeating it self thong is write jazz is gona rise again!!

  • should of heard it live ! !

  • a simple but classic jazz chart. love it! i play bari on it and its amazing

  • 47 dislikes??

what in the world is wrong with people

  • @moontheloon1127 The video is incomplete. it stops halfway through. That is what is "Wrong with people"; we want the whole freakin song.

  • @schmeckendeugler boo hoo

  • I love the camera work during Duke's solo. The music was a'ight too.

  • It seems like Bewitched's theme song is kinda of a bastardized version of this song.

  • Duke was one of the best, raychapa01.

  • What a classic, I love it

  • Listen to that trumpet screaming High A! 0:55

  • Wow does this bring back the memories...thank you for posting this gem!

  • So very, very cool indeed. Love it.

  • awesome song. hopefully 20th century can get back up to this kinda music.

  • Im a rock n roll and blues person, i admit it... but this is still great to me and it is the first Jazz song i made into chord melody from the ebook.. i think the person who will casually listen to jazz would appreciate it but i still need to ask one of my Jazz-obsessed friends if they have any problems with it.. i think i have the rhythm off on some parts..

  • cudo....

  • heh...they don't make shit like this anymore...

  • My mom's favorite band.

  • @abu309

lucky.. i wish my mom listened to good music...

  • The Best of the best, Duke Ellington.

  • The Duke! Always majestic!

  • watch?v=pEQzcDzsn3g

    in color and full version

  • oh my goodness this shit is rediculous

  • i'm pretty sure the guy you first see is related to morgan freeman

  • @WhyIAm7 maybe but his surname is Ellington

  • @nocosa haha i know.. i was kind of being sarcastic... he just kind of has the same mannerisms and looks like him.. haha

  • エリントン様、貴方の歴史は、アメリカン・ミュージックの歴史、~私には、ちょっとやそっとじゃ語れない!映像があるだけで十分! #jazzm

  • This is the Duke! In the century since his birth, there has been no greater composer (my opinion) American or otherwise than Edward Kennedy Ellington!

  • that ending sounded like well you neednt

  • 47 people have no souls.

  • I Love Jazz

  • Awesome. TY for posting.

  • CLASSIC!!! Listen to those Trombones man!

  • This is my favorite song by Duke Ellington. It is so cool and classy!

  • This music is not jazz it's SWING !!!

  • @pamelasmith223 Swing is a specific style of Jazz. Like "Bebop","Stride", "Dixieland" "Modern"

"Latin" "Kansas City" etc. All these styles are

very different in terms of sound but all fall under

    the umbrella of Jazz..

  • @blueshell21 I hear what you say but in "my day" back in the 1940's this was known as Big Band sound and therefore referred to as Swing.

  • Can't get this outta my head!

  • @StevenLewis96 you obviously don't appreciate good music

  • @KorotedGurl15 you obviously dont understand his comment !!!!

  • This is jazz? This is jizz.

  • This Is Music. Period

  • @werfanito i truly iz & i 100% agree wit u

  • 47 people are deaf, or should be deaf.

  • when the drummer is playing with his brushes and then like pounds the drum and it sounds like hes using a stick so did he flip them around?

  • @MMTPproductionz At 0:54 you can see him switch from the brushes to regular sticks.

  • @MMTPproductionz Yea he did. There's some brushes that have the tip on the other end.

  • We play this in Band :D

  • This song was playing on New Year's Eve at the Hyatt Regency Hotel of Kansas City when the walkways collapsed and killed 114 people while they were dancing and left more than 200 people injured. Sounds kinda scary.. D:

  • this piece is tough =D so fun to play!

  • The days when music was music.

  • I use to think Duke Elington was Tom&Jerry music. It is so much more. His keys work is so cheeky, and the arrangement is FAT.... but, check out that bass solo!

    s u b l i m e

  • @wynnegum1 There's nothing wrong with Tom and Jerry music.

  • the Duke does it the best! classic! i found a hip jazz band that does this song fused with neil young's cinnamon girl. very cool! ck it out search cinnamon doll jazz

  • Hey, Amarynthine, I definitely agree with what you said 4 months ago, I like all of the Duke's tunes.

  • does anyone know the name of the bass player?

  • @HonkeyTonTon

    His name is Jimmy Blanton

He died july 1942 at age 23

    true geniius!

  • power to inspire

  • well, he's no justin bieber.

  • @donjohn0904 yeah, you're right, he's no justin bieber, that's why it sounds so good :)

  • this beggins as jazz and as the music advance starts to become a little like a big band awesome

  • @americanista008 Big Band is a type of Jazz.

  • @biggestbookworm ammm i know i menat to say that the difference of the music from the beggining to some parts of the song sounds like big band

  • oh the good life!.

  • I love to play C-jam blues and Freddiefreeloader the most. I think Jazz and the blues are the greatest. Trumpet rocks in jazz ;DDD

  • playing the drums with... I don't know what's that, it's the first time I see it, it's strange x) the drums quiet don't sound :T

  • @fireoffenix100 they are called brushes... u never seen them? its actually really fun to play with them

  • @mddbassdude727 nono, I haven't seen them, maybe because I started to listen at this music (jazz and blues) a little time ago, I don't know nearly anything about this kind of music, only a few artists cause of my grandfather (he loves it), altough he has passed me a lot of names, but I'm more interested in heavier music, like rock, funk, punk, metal, etc.

  • actually I like all kinds of music, but I have more fun with the other kinds (classical and pop too xD :P). Oh, my english is horrible! x| nearly, not quiet.

  • @fireoffenix100 Your English is quiet solid, really. At least in my opinion :)

  • @YAS62ftw :D thank u :)

  • What's Duke quoting at 2:24? Sounds familiar, but I can't quite remember what that line's from.

  • @TheCatholicBoat :::::: sounds to me like "Salt Peanuts", but that could be impossible. Duke quoting Bird? I'm not sure of the chronology of this clip, or of the CParker tune (1941?)

  • @saintchill Jazz guys sample each other all the time, but I really don't think what you're saying is possible. The original recording was eons before salt peanuts.

  • @saintchill probably the other way around sonny

  • I'll never understand why some people is talking about justin bieber on this video...

  • Man Mr. Ellington it I purly magical the way you can drop in out of nowhere on the accompanig irchastra withe the grand piano and hit the high leads or the chords timming and rythum master extrodinare. Thank you I loved strumming along.

  • 47 people mistakted the song for "satan doll"

  • @coolrepublicans2032 I think if this were called Satan Doll I'd like it even more :) mmm...

  • @coolrepublicans2032 *mistook*

  • they should put this song in gt6

  • Magnificent

  • Double bass!! lol

  • This is a great video, though I prefer the 9 minute version of "Satin Doll". A great example of big band music that would make excellent music in a club or social gathering place.

  • it is as though i died and went to heaven. beautiful people, great song.

  • @bandana32 u r on crack

  • @bandana32 u r on crack this is greatness

  • @bandana32 You know what you think is crap is what created music today? So without jazz and this kind of music, Justin Beiber would've never have existed. So shut the fuck up.

  • @jlvyn13

He's just trolling to get a negative reaction.

  • Yet another thread in a youtube comment section about how much Justin Bieber sucks. Yes, we all know and agree that his music is vapid, and that he's offensive to your urbane music sensibilities. But if you have to say something, try to say something relatively original; and if you can't do that, can you at least clean up the mess you make after you're finished with your act of ego masturbation?

  • nice to see an awesome bass player not names Jamerson :)

  • WHERE THE HELL IS THE REST OF IT?! Aaaah! I need it!

  • @julianilu Its ok, i love this too, let them think you are weird, its they're problem :)

  • @julianilu let them think you are weird, you are sophisticated and smart. This is great music you might like Fats Waller and Eubie.

  • Thanks so much for this great video!

  • @julianilu Me too bro, me too....

  • @julianilu Don't bother about it, I'm 17 and I play music like this. I also find it hard to find understanding :)

  • @julianilu I know I'm too old for you, but perhaps you might consider becoming my wife somewhere in the future LOL ;) anyway, u have a brilliant taste in music, don't worry what others think.

  • @julianilu youre not special. youre not weird

  • REAL music isnt meant for any certain age.....btw justin bieber aint no musician

  • as us jazz musicians suffer so does the world.

  • @Julianilu, 2 words stupid people. Long live this music, Justun Bieber sucks.

  • Can i have some place where people dont ever mention Bieber?

I am here for some real MUSIC .
