Ah Ha! Yup, crickets in small containers is take out in my house. These went to feed my tree frogs. I have 3 grey treefrogs, an asian frog, and several snakes.
Cool! What snakes? BTW, the reason I actually found this was because I wanted to know if my crickets would chirp more in response to other crickets chirping... the results were inconclusive LOL
Yeah, something else I've noticed about crickets is that they are aggressive. Most of them were dead after a week or so but they had plenty of food and water. Plus it was the big females that were chewed up, not the males. I think that they must need a lot more space than what these were in.
That was cute! I've noticed the same with the crickets that are sitting here chirping beside me. They're funny in that they'll sit there and it looks like they're reving their engines.
The actual chirping is just by the wings. When they "rub their hindlegs" it doesn't make a sound, I think they are just trying to groom their butt.
I see grasshoppers kick the end of the abdomen when taking a poo, kicking the poo away.

I find their chirping really relaxing for some reason. Always reminds me of holidays. Hot summer nights and not a care in the world.

I do too. My roommate always teases me about my frogs and crickets calling. Says it keeps him up at night, but I love it.

I've noticed that their wings don't grow in large until their last molt. I guess before that their legs can reach to rub on them.
