Great video to re-relive this epic moment in Danish cycling history. Sure, they were all on EPO, but who cares, the drama was there, the epicness, the pain, the suffering and the joy and tears! Proper entertainment and it was a BLAST from another world to sit and see this back in 1996 and also the 1995 tour with Bjarne as nr3 if my remember correctly!

Ignoring any doping considerations, I think the main problem with Riis is simply that he was not particularly popular. You have a similar problem now with Cadel Evans, as people find him to hard to warm to. I remember Indurain dividing opinion similarly. For me the last truly great rider was Hinault, but you have to remember that some of this is because of how old you as a spectator at the time.
