I remember there was a pretty sick story about WW2 in the Normandy landings. (Antony Beevor's book)

Allied officer on the beach was shouting orders with his head tilted sideways, mouth wide open.

He got shot sideways through the mouth (between lower and upper teeth, the bullet only hit through the flesh of both the cheeks)

The guy was just shouting and spewing blood out of his mouth, but he eventually had to put some kind of bandaging in his mouth and basically shut up!

what usually happens if a bone is hit dead on?

@steelpanther88 If you get shot in the bone it will come down to if its handgun o rifle shot. A handgun shot wil most likely beak the bone, with some shatter. A rifle shot will not only break the bone, but do with such force that the bone fragments themselves become secondary projectiles, causing even more damage.A .30 rifle shot that impacts a larger bone means that bone is very much ruined and that limb will most likely not for for you, maybe on permanent basis!
